forevergeek.com — Anybody else out there hate GoDaddy? Tired of being advertised to during the entire process of registering a domain? GoDaddy sucks!

- jeffclark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Preach it, brothah! The calls are the worst. Every month, on the month.
"Yes I would like to buy a domain with a sideorder of incessant nagging!" - cooltom2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1GoDaddy is rubbish! I use them for my web hosting and they are not very good. Cheap, yes but the online help and email is not very simple...
- jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You gets what you pays fer.
- phoenixd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aren't there other domain registrars that are better that are around the same price? It is just Godaddy advertises more.
- imatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They told me 50-85 days to get MY domain back, or pay $80.
- mannyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Because you let it expire, they send 6 notices up the wazoo, then you let it expire for more than 30 days
They told me 50-85 days to get MY domain back, or pay $80. - babulka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The negative posts about Godaddy is totally non sens, at the start of, for example the registration of a domain name there is a makrked field that asks you if you like to get all discount extras, if not, just unmarked the field and you'll t5transferred direct after ordering to the check out.
Further, Godaddy and his resellers are the only one registrars that gives a .com for 1,99 if the customers orders a non domain related product and if you look at all the extras you'll receive if you register a domain name....
Comparing to other registers domain registration and hosting plans are 70% less in price at Godaddy.
Also a fact:Godaddy gives his resellers ( I am one of them ) the possibility to sell the products for a price that can be set at a lower level as at Godaddy.com itself.
Even Godaddy.com and his resellers are the cheapest ones for offering .EU domains, normally 24 USD at our sites 14,75 USD ( that's 11,60 EURO )
And for all the complainers....just visit Verisign or other regristars, there you get the same amount of extra advertising but you pay for a domain registration 20 till 35 USD per year, bot to speak about comparing hosting plans.
I say: Godaddygogogogog and keep the service running;)
. - WebmasterChick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I switched to godaddy many years ago as an alternative to network solutions. However, I tried to have a client register and park a domain via godaddy and they had no luck navigating the endless sales screens. Since I'm too lazy to go through the hassle of having my domains transferred, I still use them. However, they could update their user interface and I think they would actually improve their sales...but then again maybe they would loose out on too many ancillary sales.
- anthonykuhn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Must everything be driven by profit? GoDaddy might decide to change their business profit guidelines if only $6.95 per domain name were enough money to make a business successful. Actually, it is! The unrelenting chase for money when unfettered leads to the consumer losing faith in ability of a registrar to provide basic, simple service ,Being constantly assaulted by a labyrinth of confusing choices and even after saying "NO!" being prompted again to decline add-on service would make anyone crazy. This practice reminds me of the persistent telemarketer who coerces a nice respondent into extra services they did not want or need, but end up agreeing in a misplaced attempt to get rid of the person/registrar on the other end of the transaction.
Bad business is bad business regardless of the pretty wrapper which it hides under and GoDaddy has enough complaints against it to warrant some sort of action. - pcmarketing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used to be a fan, but lately they have turned to crap. I'm having a hard time just transfering domains from 1 GD acct. to another!
"IMPORTANT NOTE: Upon completing this account change, the domain(s) may not be transferred away from GoDaddy.com for a period of 60 days. For full details, please see our Domain Name Change of Registration Agreement. " - Rapieress, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I used to be a fan, and found I could migrate through their site fairly well ... until yesterday. It seems GoDaddy decided to re-design their QickBlog site without notifying their customers. This "redesign" killed many of their best features. It completely removed templates, images and the ability to do many needed customizations. You can't re-size anything on the site itself. This "little" change sent my blog and all it's customizations sideways to which they offer no solutions, just an "I'm sorry." It seems they were suppose to notify their customers before the roll out of the redesign, but OOOOOPPPS they accidentally rolled it out before the notification. I spent 5 hours on the phone with their customer service only to be told that their CEO doesn't read his own mail, the President doesn't respond to emails and they can offer me 6 months more on my domain - a whoppin 3.50 cents for 4 months of work. My ads are messed up, my images are miss-sized, my banner is now a quarter of it's original size. The real kick in the ass is that we cannot fix these problems on their site and my website is a unfixable mess if I stay with them. I am in a state a shock as I am in the Blogging to Fame awards (a finalist) and my website is now a FUBAR thanks to GoDaddy. I am scrambling trying to salvage what I can and see if I can take everything off their service.
What a nightmare. - Jaxbot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dig Dig Diggit!
I have a friend who always uses godaddy. They don't even let you have your own 404 page with ADs on it :O
Aside from that, what's with the teens with HORRIBLE hair on their homepage? - skhisma, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1Yeah godaddy's site is rubbish but this blog isn't much better with all the freaking ads on it. O_o
- Nicholaus, on 12/23/2007, -0/+0GoDaddy is WAY too EXPENSIVE for someone who has at-least moderate domain knowledge. I use Hostica to host my 85 domains. They charge a flat rate of $20/per-month to host an unlimited number of domains. If someone has a cheaper hosting company, please let me know. Thx.
