- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Dude, I just heard about that and signed up...Its perfect for those who want to access their home phone's voicemail from anywhere on earth.
All of this makes home phones soooo 1900s.- Pwelborn1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Our university already has a version by Cisco called Viewmail. It allows your Cisco IP phone system to automatically port voicemail to your e-mail inbox. The cool thing is that until you listen to your e-mail voicemail your phone will continue to display that you have new messages. Your e-mail subject field even includes the caller id tag from the phone system. It's really amazing.

- h0zae, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6or if you are bored install Asterisk @ Home --- with no limitiations -- free http://www.asterisk.org/ or http://www.trixbox.org/
- galacticroot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yep, Comedian Mail can send E-Mail as a built in option.
As for remote voice mail accounts, you could:
-Use a cron job to copy a call file for that VM account into the asterisk/outgoing folder,
-Which subsequently causes asterisk to call the VM account and execute an AGI script,
-Which sends a specified DTMF sequence and instructs Asterisk to record the resulting audio to a file.
That part would be trivial. You would also need to use silence detection to send required DTMF after each message in most cases.

- leetsauce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I use Stanaphone. I have a free New York number (even though I live in California) that people can call in and leave messages. I get the messages in my inbox in the form of .wav.
- brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Um...Vonage does this for me.
- Zolk, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Ditto.
- Fly1m1, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1Ditto as well.
- Oakes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Please RTFA. The writer acknowledges this, but says it's useful for his cellphone.
- bothunter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3True, but this will consolidate all your voicemail boxes, so it will pick up your vonage as well as your cell phone.
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Um, why would you need this for you cell phone? I have my cell phone with me more often than I check my email.
- trylk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Try this http://www.sbcuc.net/dchelp/EN/learnaboutuc.html

- lasvegas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3If I want to read just about every techcrunch post... I will just go to techcrunch... does every single post from them need to make the front page? and why are they all always linked to techcrunch and not the website they blog about???
- redrighthand, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4this seems like digg spam
- kevine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I use PhoneValet from Parliant:
It sends voicemail via email and a whole lot more. No monthly fees, just one purchase. - SwK386, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Asterisk is the way to go... Its Free, Runs on Linux, OSX, BSD, and even windows and offers alot more then just voicemail in your inbox... you can even set it up to play hell with telemarketers and that crazy ex you have.
not to mention it has a power interface called AGI for the crazy scripter in you- bothunter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I agree, but for the common folk, I think this is easier. ;-)

- birkoph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I live in Canada and use Telus. GotVoice doesn't seem to support it.
Oh well... - akatsuki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Why not do some sort of dictation so I can get a rough idea of the message?
- SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ok, I will just give them my wireless number and PASSWORD?
- WalkerBurgin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Works like a charm... not necessarily the best thing out there, but it's easy and it does get the job done.
- chaser7016, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4DIGG SPAM!!!
I bet creators of this software paid Tech Crunch to blog about it and get it on Digg; has Tech Crunch been around awhile? Damn, money is to be made...I need to set up a blog..ASAP!- techcrunch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4why do you assume they paid me to write this article? Also, you may notice that I didn't submit it to digg, someone else did. I assume they submitted it because they thought it would be interesting.
- chaser7016, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hmm...well either you are trying to keep relevant via your denial or ur clueless to the cash that can be made by blogging. Do you profit off your blog and are you or do you know TheAttacks? What's their IP and what is yours?
LoL
- gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh god damn it. I dont know my pin. My cell phone just goes straight to the messages and doesnt ask me for my pin anymore
- afbase, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1this idea reminds me of one particular function in Asterisk.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Onebox.. uCall.. eFax... etc.. lots more. why is this new?
- spaceman_spiff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0seems like advertising to me. I get this with my telecom provider in Australia. Yawn.
- jaxun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Netzero now has www.privatephone.com for free, and sends e-mail to POP account with WAV attachment as well as notification to cell phone. I used GotVoice for awhile, but switched from Nextel to MetroPCS. Better than Gotvoice because it sends the message as soon as it is received, vs. 2 or 3x a day. Very convenient. It also means I don't have to give out my direct cell#.
- JoeDonH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Maybe I'm paranoid and should take my tinfoil hat off, but how secure is this? I just feel a bit funny giving my voicemail info out to a third party provider and having them have access to the data and voicemail recordings on my cellphone. Are my messages stored on their servers after they send the email with the .mp3 in it? I didn't see anyting on the site or in the FAQ regarding this. I think I'm going to keep my tinfoil hat on for the time being...
- calebmts, on 06/10/2008, -0/+0If you want a tollfree voicemail service I recommend 101voicemail. The toll free number sets you apart since it gives your business a more professional image.
