- jbus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19This is public information... It's part of being a "free" country.
- addakorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18How is this invasive?
Public record is generated by the need to keep our politicians in line (ie creating a record of donations above a certian amount). - drizek, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20"please tell me your outside the U.S."
Actually, i think people outside the US are more likely to know about such things. - kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12This is interesting, but not completely correct.
I am in 60645. I found myself. It says I donated a small mount to Howard Dean, however in reality, I donated significantly more than it reports. Hell, the amount it says I donated is actually below the minimum amount required to report.
I suspect that since I made multiple donations, it is either picking just one donation out, or it is not counting my multiple donations as from the same person, thus not totalling them. Or, it could be that the dataset is incomplete or inaccurate.
Whatever the case, it is still very cool. - dpk87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Mr. Eric E Schmidt - CEO - Google, Inc
DNC - $25,000
John Kerry - $2,000
Howard Dean - $2,000 - pilot3033, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Two diffrent ideas you are melding into one. I agree, certain aspects of privacy should never be invaded in the name of 'security'. But certain things need to be public record, such as contributions to the people who lead the country.
This way, we can know who is taking money from who, and decide if a vote should be cast for that person or not. I would love to know if GWB got money from...oh..say...Haliburton. I would know that Haliburton is an energy company, and GWB would be mor in favor of laws that promote gasoline rahter than those that promote possible cleaner, more effeciant, or just diffrent types of energy. I could then decide that GWB is not going to represent me well (as a leader should in a represnative republic) and I should vote for someone else (possible who took money from IPAC, MoveOn, Energy California etc.) - jbus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Now, I know which family members not to send Christmas cards... Thanks!
- kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9You would be in violation of the terms of use, then, as it clearly states that the information provided cannot be used to discriminate against or intimidate any persons.

George W. Bush - $2,000 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+22JimMacFly @ President Bush's IQ, estimated from his SAT scores and military records puts him well above the intelligence of the average adult.
His SAT scores were higher than Bill Bradley's and Paul Wellstone's.
Yet for some reason, the ever so proud of his intellectual achievements Kerry refuses to release his own SAT scores.
The same Kerry who scored no better than average on his Navy tests.... Putting him in a much lower intelligence percentile than President Bush.
So do your homework before you try to slander the President, because right now, you look to be the one with that "intellectual level"...

"Bush 1206 Kerry 1190
:rollin
Here is what we also know from New Yorker Magazine and UPI in articles from January of 2004.
-- Bush's SAT scores are higher than Bill Bradley's, Paul Wellstone's, and John Kerry's.
-- Bush scored a 1206 on his SAT, 566 of 800 on verbal and 640 of 800 on math. [Since the SAT's scale has since been "recentered," Bush's score is more like a 1300 today.]
-- Bush's verbal score would place him between the 84th and 92nd percentile of college-bound students, or the 93rd to 97th percentile of ALL high-school seniors taking the exams, the percentile usually used.
-- His math score would also place him between the 84th and 92nd percentile of college-bound students, or the 94th to 98th percentile of ALL high-school seniors taking the exams, the percentile usually used.
-- Using one method to extract IQ's from these SAT scores, Bush's IQ would be somewhere between 124 and 137. Hardly a dunce, that's at least in the top six percent of Americans.
-- We all hear of Bush's supposed college mediocrity, but in reality his "worst" courses were two C-minus scores. Accounting for grade inflation, Bush's worst grades are around today's B-minuses.
Recentered SAT: 1300 IQ: 124-137 Stupid: Definately not." - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+690210 has some fascinating stats! 70% Democrat, but campaign contributions: $.7m rep, $1m dem. :O
Can anyone find Nader? :D - Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wow, this is insanely cool... No one in my town actually cared to give money while all the surrounding areas gave loads of it.... I'm right dead in the center of the ring of cheapness.
- SouthernDigger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6haha.. my neighbor donated $2000 to GW. didn't see that one coming.
- rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ jesusphreak
People are aware when they donate money to political campaigns that it will be made part of the public record. Last I heard, the NSA wasn't popping into conversations and saying "Hi, this is Bob from the NSA. I'm gonna be illegally tapping this conversation to make sure you're not a big mean ol' terrorist. Please continue on as though we're not listening." - icetigaurus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@otherland
President George W. Bush may be intelligent, but he sure has a funny way of showing it... - RubeusEsclair, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Yeah, thats a good attitude. While your at it, move to Mexico.
- AlfaWolph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Turns out the campaign contributions are public knowledge."
Lol Well yeah. Without transparency you'd NEVER know who was buying off/currying favor with your government. Someone please beam jesusphreak back to the 21st century. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Evil supports evil

Google cache. Not much use...won't be able to process your zip code, digg effect! - benjihad, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Dean was a good candidate. Nader was also a good candidate. I would have liked to have seen John Edwards get the democratic nomination, however.
maybe in 2008. - dtfinch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I chose the most populated zip code in the US, 60623, with around 112k people. It took over two minutes to generate the results. They don't seem right though. 5 democrats and 1 republican. My home town of ~1000 people had more contributors.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Howard Dean was great, he just was too wild for most. That's why we always have douches in office, because people can't take anything out of the ordinary. Hell, one incident in which he got really excited and showed his enthusiasm basically ruined his rep totally.. I would have been damn excited if I were him too.
- jbus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If it's too slow... Go to the site it pulls info from http://www.fundrace.org/
No cool google maps, but you can still look up by name and zip. - kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would like to point out that I was at the post-caucus rally in Des Moines where Dean made his (in)famous "scream" speech. And I will tell you, in that hall, it was so loud that no one in that room could hear Dean's scream. He was just trying to match the level of the crowd.
Sounds a little different on TV when you have a microphone feeding you the audio...
I didn't even understand fully what the big deal was when I got back to Chicago, until I saw the clip on TV a few days later.
But in all fairness, he did have a horribly poor showing in the caucus. But the out of context "scream" coverage just sealed his fate.
It wasn't his time, I guess.
Gore / Clinton, '08! - test5477, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i think the digg efeect is in control. can't get it to work anymore...
- kendawg, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Leviss, please tell me YOU'RE in third grade.
GW = George W. Bush - kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is not (yet) dugg to death. Depending on the number of contributions in the given zip code, it can take quite long to cull the data and generate the report. It even says this on the site.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haha just noticed these guys are from IU, woohoo. I love seeing my school on Digg.
- cbdgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Mr. George HW Bush - Retired
Contribution - George W. Bush $2,000
Honorable John Kerry - Senator - United States Senate
Contribution - DNC $25,000 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He has a good point though. The choices we have are pretty horrible. The "anyone but bush" folks realized this. Kerry might not be any brighter than Bush, but at least he was on top of all of Bush's mistakes.
What bugs me most is the troops in Iraq didn't get a choice. If if you did get ahold of an absentee ballot, it didn't get counted anyways. I know a lot of troops over there who would have voted for Kerry, to include myself. It was even spray painted here and there. The KBR folks generally leaned towards Bush, because who would't when you're making 80k+ to sit on your ass and get free steak n shrimp at the chow hall. - moofdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3dugg to death
- moofdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I was campaign staff for Dean in New Hampshire. He was a great candidate who got unfair treament from the media.
Now Dean as DNC chair...that's a little different... - fronta1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey fronta1, since you clearly like modding down those who disagree with you, here's a tip for submitting stories on digg: If it doesn't fit into one of the following categories

i understand...we all can be a little immature sometimes and forget whats really goin on
thats ok...have a nice day - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This is hilarious. One of the zip codes I looked at, it's unemployed college students in the suburbs giving $2000 each to Howard Dean and $500 at least to the DNC.
Sounds fishy. - bf01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1town != zip code.
Simi Valley is made up of multiple zip codes. - sspooner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nicely apolitical.
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think its been dugged to death....
- Rickler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is no way thats the most populated zipcode, because red neck town simi valley has a population around the low 100K's

ya just don't "missunderestimate" him!!! He's on a "crusade" against the terrorists (mentioning crusades in the context of muslim society is _real_ smooth). Don't forget "It's been a long border, obviously, with Mexico, and a long border with Canada. And the biggest problematic area right now is the border with Mexico, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas." (if its so damn obvious why did you say it?). oh and how bout that meeting in prague, that officials from the CIA denyed shortly after he made the comment. [instert the other 100000000 stupid things he's said here]
Does it really matter how smart he really is...the words and descisions make the man. - moofdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6That's great and all about him being smarter then the average person but he's...you know...the president. One would hope he'd be smarter then the average adult. That's not exactly the scale we want to measure him on. How's he compare to other presidents?
- jaredvolkl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did a little sleuthing on the page. Here's the link the form submits to http://www.cs.indiana.edu/cgi-pub/markane/projectFinal3.cgi
just add ?zipCode=XXXXX where XXXXX is your zip code and you should see it. - tonage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is any of this internet stuff like this ever correct? Anyone who thinks this stuff is correct also clicks on popups that says they have won a million dollars.
All this does is provide yet another opportunity for people to hijack a thread and start spouting off their agenda.
INACCURATE - Juano11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Incomplete, Neither my nor my fiance's donations are listed.
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3sweet! now i can track down everyone who gave anything to bush and personally send them a letter of strong disagreement! lol.. j/k, but it is a bit scary to see your private contribution put on display for all the world to see, with name, address, amount and who it went to included.
watch someone like bill o'rly take all his hate letters and post the name, address and contents of the letter of the person who sent it on google maps and releases it to the public. - jbus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Him and Melinda give to both parties so they can get favors from the government regardless of who is in power.
Although... It's clear the Republicans have been much nicer to Microsoft than the Democrats were. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So people can get ahold of SAT scores without you releasing them? Man... I'm ashamed of mine; I did worse than Bush. I think there is a strong possibility my results are wrong, because the test seemed really easy to me, and i was always the first one done in each part. And I wasn't necessarily rushing. Then again, everyone says that.
Either way, judging someone on a test they took when they were 16 isn't exactly fair, now is it? I've learned a lot since then. I had to take mine at a rival high school, and the lady giving it made it clear she didn't like us outsiders. That alone can affect people. Not that I'm making excuses, but there are always variables. Anything is possible, maybe when the teacher saw me getting done so quick, she got the idea of which test to switch, to benefit one of her students. Never know. - Ryan229, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Badnarik whoops ass.
- FederalSource, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Talk about an unbelievable source for financial planners and marketers. Although some people donate more than you would expect, it takes a certain income level to be willing to donate $2000, $5000, or $10000+.
Also, address, full names, job titles, wow that's scary. Crooks or identity thieves have some good information to start working with. - triad, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Oh wow....thank God everyone around me is a Republican. Glad I am not living around a bunch of losers.
