- airencracken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I hope so, that'd be a great function for Flickr to have.
- BlindIrishman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9It would show a map, and the location of where the picture was taken.
- lancefisher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@tuxuser, You aren't making any sense.
- Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm pretty sure its the ability to look at a map of given area and see if anyone has taken a photo of given area or whatever.
- bluedino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@tuxuser: a lot of people already have all their photos on flickr and have pro accounts. I haven't tried picassa but i personally enjoy flickr and would love added geotagging. Google obviously isn't going to liscense earth to yahoo to intergrate with flickr so whats the harm in yahoo setting up their own service?
- shanedog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's not a google earth clone. If you think it is then you are misunderstanding its purpose.

- n00dles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How long until all the digital cameras out there include a GPS chipset (a low power model like the sirfstar III) and automatically tag your photos with the gps location? Not long I hope, i've been buying stock now for a year in sirf.
- yawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, it's not just the features. If you take a closer look at the interface and the descriptions you will notice that it's pretty much the same.
However I like their current giveaway of free pro accounts to every blogger. - bluedino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2this is rad. i'm pretty ocd about documenting my life via flickr and this will help me to geek out even more. does anyone know of a site to translate a physical address into an aproximate gps coordinate?
- shanedog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's about time. I've been waiting for Flick to have this feature since I started using it. Does anyone know if any of the other photo sites have geotagging?
- borga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the new geotagging functionality between Picasa and Google Earth. It is so beautifully simple. If something like this comes to Flickr then I'm all for it.
- tuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3what is it exactly?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What's to say they aren't going to use Yahoo Maps, which already exists? And what's wrong with a little competition for Google Earth? It's not like GE was the first map service in the world.
- danbartov, on 08/14/2008, -0/+0There are better options today, I use http://www.trekinu.com/ if I want to make a geotagged album to share with friends.
here one of my albums - it has for full screen button use it.. :-)

There was another photo site that had geotagging but i cannot remember the name right now. - dreamsINdigital, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2... and people bashed Zooomr for "copying" Flickr's features. =/ Looks like the tables have turned.
- kordless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://zoto.com/
- RoxStar1968, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it would be great for people searching for photos from specific locations. "Great Barrier Reef", "Grand Canyon","Mount Everest", etc etc.
- Sheaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Smugmug did it a year ago.
http://www.smugmug.com/help/maps - shanedog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Try this site: http://geocoder.us/ Only works for US addresses though.
- ziga, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0TripTracker also provides geotagging. And if you have a GPS track, it will automatically geotag all your photos. Here is an example from a trip to Thailand: http://triptracker.net/trip/263/map/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2So would video. Why does it have "flick" in the name when there's no video?
- tuxuser, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1whats so coola bout just use google earth seems flickr/yahoo wnats to cath up to the king/google lill late huh?
