- smithfly114, on 09/29/2008, -3/+1229. Make a list of eight items that is ALL ON ONE PAGE!
- DeskFlyer, on 09/29/2008, -0/+46I found this one out at work: If you're using multiple monitors and you have Firefox opened on two or more displays, you can drag and drop tabs back and forth between separate windows. Pretty nifty. :)
- ultrafez, on 09/29/2008, -1/+35Nope, hotmail is just lame. They don't allow free POP3 access either...
- skywake, on 09/29/2008, -1/+34I have massive amounts of memory... if a program wants to use it it can go ahead and use it. What difference should it make to me if I have 100MB less memory free?
- ievanssc, on 09/29/2008, -8/+34i think you meant:
9. Download Opera then uninstall Firefox.
might be more difficult the other way. - evilEL, on 09/29/2008, -2/+26That horse has been beaten, buried, eaten by worms, crapped out, used by growing grass and flowers as food, eaten by bugs, eaten by bigger bugs, eaten by birds, crapped out, etc. Can we move on to some other topic please.
- jboswell2000, on 09/29/2008, -1/+23Top ten ways your website can show as many ads as possible!
- djdole, on 09/29/2008, -0/+18#7 + foxmarks = awesome.
- Organize your quick-searches in folders. ("Google" "Entertainment" "Social Networking" etc)
- Go to google maps and search for your home address, then select "Directions from here" and create a new keyword for the search field that appears. name it "HomeTo". (Now you can search for directions like "HomeTo " quickly.)
- Ditto for "WorkTo"
- Ditto for the "Search Nearby" with "NearHome" or "NearWork" (ie query "NearHome pizza")
Other good quick searches to setup:
Digg.com - digg
wikipedia - wp
wikihow - howto
ip lookup - ip
reverse telephone lookup - reverse
usps - usps
Anonymous Surf - annon
^_^ - ravisraval, on 09/29/2008, -12/+28Some are actually innovative
- th2edrrfs, on 09/29/2008, -3/+18Most people know all of those tips
- sphykik, on 09/29/2008, -1/+15You're lame for using hotmail.
- liljay2k, on 09/29/2008, -3/+17javascript:window.navigator.registerProtocolHandler("mailto", "https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s","Gmail")
Can I do this for Hotmail? Or is hotmail just lame? - sirbeta, on 09/29/2008, -0/+13Any particular reason why aside from "LOL IT'S IE"? I found the addon to be quite effective for things like Netflix's Play Instant functionality that can't be run in Firefox.
- tempusrob, on 09/29/2008, -1/+131) It's "sheer."
2) Article is from PCMag. Their target audience is not exactly a high-level one. - thefinger, on 09/29/2008, -0/+9Firefox can also block pcmag images/banners wholesale.
- brstilson, on 09/29/2008, -0/+9memory that isn't being used does you no good.
- pHreaksYcle, on 09/29/2008, -1/+9That horse has been beaten, buried, eaten by worms, crapped out, fertilized the dirt that another horse ate, and then THAT horse was beaten. Twice.
- evilpolitians, on 09/29/2008, -1/+9They ran out of pixels on the first page.
- cwbypete, on 09/29/2008, -4/+12Inaccurate, it's 'Firefox 3: 2 things I didn't care it could do... and friends.'
- captainstumpy, on 09/30/2008, -1/+8You can also do that with multiple windows on one monitor. ;-)
- skinnydipinacid, on 09/29/2008, -0/+7but unfortunately necessary if you want to download movies and songs from many sites.
- 2Deluxe, on 09/30/2008, -0/+6LMAO OK NOW GO BACK TO MYSPACE.
- nerdzero, on 09/29/2008, -1/+6Ah, finally! Dugg for "browser.tabs.closeButtons". My personal preference is a single X to close tabs.
- zenithmbr, on 09/29/2008, -2/+7one of the few complaints i have is how firefox 3 made it harder to open duplicate tabs, you used to be able to just middle click on the 'go' button and it'd pop up, now i have to hold a key and drag.. ok so i guess it's not that bad.
- thefinger, on 09/29/2008, -1/+6How interesting. Actually I did it the other way around. Opera was GREAT for that. They let me get onto the Mozilla site and everything and they let me click a link to download FF. Damn, but that's a good feature!
- angrykeyboarder, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5People still use Hotmail?
- compgeek, on 09/29/2008, -0/+5dugg for being able to use gmail as a default mailto
- TheAngryMob, on 09/29/2008, -5/+9I hate lists that assume I don't know something. Actually, I knew all 8 of these...so there!
- LemonDeception, on 09/29/2008, -1/+5I knew all but two of those. And why would I want to duplicate my tabs anyway?
- evilpolitians, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4Haven't been a lot lately I've seen. But maybe they just get lost in the election coverage.
- hdeck, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4i was able to do #2 in the old firefox as well.
- Fergy, on 09/30/2008, -1/+5You don't even tell which ones you found 'innovative' and you get dugg up. Your comment was worthless.
To the people that dugg this article you should have visited http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+Suppor ... - bahgheera, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Firefox is no place to do #2.
- DeathJux, on 09/29/2008, -2/+6I don't know, why isn't isn't it on the list?
- secretdiffusion, on 09/29/2008, -0/+3Quit whining just because your computer can't even run an internet browser properly.
- Sawta, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3It's not terrible as a junk mail address, if you had one active anyway. Really makes you appreciate gmail.
- qwer777, on 09/29/2008, -0/+3only one I didn't know was ctrl+drag for duplicating tabs. useful!
- drew52686, on 09/29/2008, -2/+5"Sorry Officer, I didn't know I couldn't do that."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv7bb73Dlvg&feature ... - TheGreatBelow, on 09/29/2008, -2/+5FF3 is the most memory efficient browser available right now.
- Shanks08, on 09/29/2008, -0/+3Number 7 is pure genious in my opinion. An amazing feature I am over the moon to learn!
Edit -> That aside, I did know about all but two of these. Good article nether the less. - diemunkiesdie, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3I like having the go button for the same purpose. The solution, an addon that makes a persistent go button!
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/693 ... - BananaGrabber, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2I didn't know about the email thing and the password thing. Uh, I just found out the passwords for several of my friend's emails who logged into my computer.
- init100, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2"Something I never thought to even try until recently is you can middle-click the back and forward buttons to open in a new tab."
You can middle-click almost anything to open it in a new tab, like browser history entries (including the back and forward buttons), bookmarks, links, etc. - werries, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2Thank god, someone that makes sense.
Memory in use as cache is my best friend. - rnelsonee, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2Oh man! I've been using the keyword feature for a long time, and came here to digg this article for #7 as well and never even thought to do it from the "From here" in google maps - great idea (I just have 'map' go to the normal GMaps search).
Don't forget eBay and imdb - Langford, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2One example:
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=firefox+random+% ... - Fergy, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2If every program does that you need 16GB of memory.
- RG13, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2I'm leaving a comment here so I can find this post again easily. Thanks a ton.
Also, instead of having Digg as its own quick search, is there a way to save a search as a standard google search but with site:digg.com added on? (since google is much faster/better than digg's search engine) - elmetald00d, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2see: links
