- moolcool, on 03/21/2009, -30/+350facebook users ALWAYS hate on site changes
- REBECCAFRIEDMAN, on 03/20/2009, -39/+326If I had wanted to see a confusing, chaotic interface with random comments from anyone and everyone, I would have simply opened up my twitter account. RIP Facebook.
- badriram, on 03/21/2009, -16/+234Ill tell you why, people that are fine with the UI are not going to add a new app, give up their personal info and vote yes I like it. App != actual research.
- Cubeforce, on 03/21/2009, -3/+179I don't mind the visual overhauls as much, but this redesign has made the site less usable.
-No longer can you see when friends add other people or join groups.
-Quizzes and other nonsense are taking over the news feed, it's a hassle to hide each one individually.
-Livefeed, gone?
-Too big of a focus on status updates makes pictures / notes less visible between all the "I'm eating an orange" posts. - spepin, on 03/21/2009, -7/+150Myspace is trying to turn into Facebook. Facebook is trying to turn into Twitter. What's Twitter trying to turn into?
- tehsusenoh, on 03/21/2009, -112/+223The layout is fine for me.
- muchachoburacho, on 03/21/2009, -34/+138I'm so tired of this. Everytime facebook releases any type of update everyone flips their ***** *****. Then in three weeks they completely ***** forget about it. Now people want to go back to the old one? You mean the one everyone ***** HATED when it came out? Get over it, cause in three weeks nobody is going to even remember what the old facebook looked like and its not people are pissed off about the layout anyways, just the fact that they completely changed it, causing all the retarded people of the world to not know what the ***** is going on.
- den0, on 03/21/2009, -6/+84I had no problems with the last change, I welcomed it. This, however, is definitely a step in the wrong direction.
- ryanwhitham, on 03/21/2009, -2/+69The reason people HATE redesigns is because they are used to knowing where everything is. Print newspaper readers hate re-designs because they can't find their sudoku. Nokia kept the same user interface and shortcuts for years because millions of users didn't want to relearn a new interface, even why buying a new phone. We are creatures of habit...
- emcee83, on 03/20/2009, -35/+100i hate the new look too.
- scb0825, on 03/21/2009, -27/+84who gives a *****?
- kevlar21, on 03/21/2009, -2/+57response bias
- koolto, on 03/21/2009, -12/+58Nice job Tweetbook, now my feed is full of ***** from spam apps and I can't even see the photo comments.
- MtheoryX, on 03/21/2009, -10/+56This is a little misleading, so I want to clarify it a bit...
94% ... *of the kind of people that will add a stupid app like this to bitch about the new look* ... don't like the new look.
I fail to see how this is shocking or newsworthy. - Snowspot, on 03/21/2009, -2/+41Hopefully something useful?
- roxgod666, on 03/21/2009, -0/+35Except that's not sarcasm. At all.
- coit, on 03/21/2009, -13/+42You only hear from folks who are perpetual whiners.
The rest of us don't really care, and are fine with it. - momzilla54, on 03/21/2009, -30/+58No kidding. I don't think I have been on Facebook more than a few times since they started the new interface.
- doctordbx, on 03/21/2009, -2/+30But it would still be cool.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 03/21/2009, -0/+27I like that the News Feed on my Home page is actually in chronological order. Before it was just a chaotic mess of two-week-old crap popping up to the top and new stuff taking days to appear.
However, the new "What's on your mind?" box is a failure. I've seen an increase in status messages like "Jane Doe I'm going to the movies! Yay!" The new box is confusing people. It's no longer obvious that what you're typing is going to be used as a status message and not just a "mini-note" or something.
Organization of your Wall on your Profile page is actually worse. It used to be sectioned by date, with each item (most items?) including the time they were posted. Now, while still in chronological order, only your own status updates, messages, and comments tell you on which date and what time they occurred. New friends, updates to your information, becoming a fan of someone/something... None of these are dated or timed. They're all grouped under separate and increasingly meaningless sections titled "Recent Activity". When everything you've done all the way back to when you started using Facebook is categorized as "Recent Activity", what's the point?
So, it's not *all* bad. It's just mostly bad. - sorenchr, on 03/21/2009, -5/+30Myspace.
HEAD ASPLODE - no1joel, on 03/21/2009, -1/+26I just take issue with the grammar of these 'sites. They ask you "What's on your mind?" or "what are you doing?"
the natural response is in the form "I think that bread is tasty" or "I am eating a sammich"
Then it outputs it as "Bob Dole I think that bread is tasty", or "Bob Dole I am eatin a sammich"
That is not a correct sentence. It seems like I'm talking to myself.
It really bothers me.
Bob Dole. - dnite, on 03/21/2009, -1/+22It's not about being a time consuming symbol of dedication to a cause, it's about the fact that people who like (or don't care enough about) the new design aren't really going to seek out this application or care to vote. The app is only for those who wish to jump on the bandwagon of hate that forms every time Facebook changes anything at all.
- KyleGoetz, on 03/21/2009, -0/+21Only three things are sure in life: death, taxes, and Facebook users hating UI changes. And I'm not sure about the first two.
--Einstein - doshindude, on 03/21/2009, -9/+29No it isn't, shut up.
- Narrwald, on 03/21/2009, -5/+24This seems a major step backwards in the logical and intuitive interface I used to love Facebook for.
- KraigR, on 03/21/2009, -0/+19I dont have any, yet I still see other people's
Somethings seriously wrong with that. - danielwsmithee, on 03/21/2009, -2/+20I agree, I'm not so upset about the new layout with the "filters." I just need the ability to filter out or block notes and comments from applications that friends have installed. The 1000 quiz posts is what is killing the new facebook layout.
- dizavin, on 03/21/2009, -0/+18something profitable.
- birch25, on 03/21/2009, -3/+20I'm tired of people bitching every time Facebook changes their damn layout. They change their layout, people bitch and moan about how it was perfectly fine before and they'll never use it again, and the process repeats itself every 6 months or so. Be prepared for a ton of people clamoring for this layout in the fall when they mix it up again.
- aserer511, on 03/21/2009, -2/+18if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
or in this case, if it's half way *****, don't ***** it up even more - Hardcore41, on 03/21/2009, -1/+17worst screenshot ever
- Klowner, on 03/21/2009, -14/+30Finally it's possible to follow wall-to-wall discussions and everyone blows a gasket?
- KyleGoetz, on 03/21/2009, -8/+23The layout is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned; it's even less processor intensive than the previous one. In other words:
The sun rises again, Facebook users hate site changes. BIG SURPRISE. It's not like they haven't hated every change since day 1. Sheesh. You're like a bunch of technophobes who can't learn a new UI. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 03/21/2009, -0/+15Bingo.
Also, there's at least 2 different apps for this that I've seen... - reelskamachine, on 03/21/2009, -3/+17be original
- gavintlgold, on 03/21/2009, -2/+16I am interested in your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
- Hignaki, on 03/21/2009, -1/+14I ask the same question to you.
- InorganicMatter, on 03/21/2009, -1/+14I'll tell you why - because the new design was made to maximize ad space. It's here to stay, too.
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -1/+13OK, how about these for numbers?
Facebook has over 150 million registered users, yet just over 1 million have voted that they hate the new layout.
Less that 1% care enough to actually install an app to say they hate it. Over 99% clearly are fine with it.
See how you can manipulate numbers to mean almost anything? - Crimsoneer, on 03/21/2009, -1/+13Give it a month...
- Narrwald, on 03/21/2009, -3/+15Good to know; keep us updated.
- chaosatom, on 03/21/2009, -2/+14We should have the ability to switch between layouts.
I get that twitter is popular and everything, but making this big changes based on twitter is just plain dumb. - Maz96, on 03/21/2009, -1/+12Digg. ;]
- trloatis, on 03/21/2009, -0/+11The problem with this 'redesign' is that a lot of functionality is now gone. With the livefeed page gone, there's no way to see when people add friends among many things.
- Reddog_x2000, on 03/21/2009, -0/+11I'm no technophobe. I'm a tech and I spend a lot of time following the latest developments on the web & in technology in general & I don't care for it.
It's not terrible. I'm not going to leave the site over it. But, I preferred the previous version, which was better organized. If my friend invites 10 people to join his cause, I'd prefer to see 1 line saying just that. Now, I get 10 nearly identical entries that take up most of the page. I'd also prefer to keep my friends separate from the celebrities I follow. Now, they're all mashed in together.
I realize that their not going to go back to the old design. But, I wish they'd better organize this, or at least give us more controls over how we'd like information presented to us. - eadnams, on 03/22/2009, -0/+11its absurdist and non-sequitor, thus funny...
Not rocket science. - xsidekick409, on 03/21/2009, -2/+12Live GPS global tracking via biological implant.
- geesamba, on 03/21/2009, -2/+12Dugg for truthiness.
