- giveer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+55Wow, not only are you judging someone based on the friends they have, you're judging people on the amount of FACEBOOK friends they have. *THAT'S* weak.
- nizam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48facebook + digg = end of my academic career
- giveer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41My high school guidance counselor would tell you that you need a better job....
- wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Or how about securing productivity? He shouldn't even be on Facebook. He's not paid to do that.
And yes, I'm sure the IT department is manually monitoring users all day and don't just quickly glance at logs. - supermajic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Digg can be just as addictive, hell im supposed to be doing an assignment right now, instead im staring at the screen eagerly anticipating the arrival of an article on the front page.. no i dont use upcoming articles.. thats cheating
- Ngai, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25i actually "hang out" with people rather than spend 2-4 hours a day looking at pictures and sending secret messages all day....
- goggleBOX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Privacy? He posted it to a public website in the hopes people would read it? That is like saying it is a breach of privacy for E! channel to do a bit on Tom Cruse and his new film role. Rather stupid thing for him to do as I would say he is about to face the wrath of his evil overlords on this one.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23At least Digg changes. Facebook is the same crap over and over. It's just a collection of pictures of drunk people. It lets even the most technologically incompetent people upload pictures of themselves drunk, and if the person in question is a girl, dressed like a totally slut with her boobs hanging out. Then they can spam everyones walls with, "THAT WAS SO AWESOME", "MY FRIENDS ARE SO GREAT", or "LOL I HAVEN'T TALKED TO YOU IN FOREVER. HOW R U?". (All caps is very important so you stand out against ALL THE OTHER ***** CAPS. or maybe you talk like this in no caps and never use periods or punctuation because thats the new cool thing to do)
Someone needs to create a bot that goes onto Facebook and just rips the pictures and attaches them to names. Then you can just search a giant database of pictures by a person's name, since that's what you are spending all your time "addicted to" anyway. Want to see what that ho-biscuit with the good boobs from high school is up to? Just type in her name and behold hundreds of pictures of her clevage. - championchap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11All caps and 0 punctuation is Language 2.0
Did you not get the pamphlet? - zeblith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Should we all poke him? =P
Also, better pic, general note for facebook, change the pic url's s to an n, get a larger picture. Not that you may actually care, but stalkers may enjoy it, and who doesn't love stalkers?

- Azimuth1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Good to see that his Oxford degree is being put to good use.
- cycledesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@ GawtMilk
What I think magicmarc is trying to say is that, if you simply search facebook for "Charlie" at Oxford university then you can easily spot that picture as I and many others just did. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Virb FTW!
- Harrison88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Status:
4 Updates this week...
Charlie is going to be fired. - eriksanerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Facebook is flawed, in the fact that I'd need friends in order to spend that much time on it. Digg, however, could just as easily make me lose my job WITHOUT any real social interaction.
Advantage to Digg. - battleroyalex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I sign on facebook realize theres nothing to do.. and sign off.
- phiw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I just messaged him giving him a heads-up on his potential internet fame.
I didn't stop to think how weird it would be if he's received hundreds of messages from randomers until after I sent it.
Ah well, at least mine is at the top of the pile! - growlzor, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Facebook was cool when it was only for college students, why facebook why?
- thetanman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Here's the site he linked to on his profile... pretty dark, albeit sometimes funny comics.
http://cant-touch-this.co.uk/morningglory/comics.html - motters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3People like socialising, whether in the conventional spaces of pubs and clubs or in the newer online games and networking services. It's not surpising that this sort of activity can be addictive, because its what humans spend most of their time doing.
If the company objected to him using facebook they could have easily blocked the site. I was once in charge of administering internet usage in a previous job, and this kind of access control is trivially easy to do if you believe someone is abusing the system. From the guys point of view if your job is so tedious that it makes facebook look thrilling, it's probably time to change jobs. - QEDbitches, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7exclusivity is the center of "being cool"... frats, teams, clubs, exclusive parties... why would it be any different online?
- goleopards1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dude, just ask any college student and they'll tell you of the hours spent in the library do no work accept 'stalk' the girl they talked to last night on the FB.
- sirdaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK so he's practically admitting it. But I use the facebook toolbar in firefox that constantly checks for new friends/messages/pokes/etc. I have my browser open without fail, so It would appear that I'm using facebook for roughly 11 hours+ per day.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What an a*hole. I hope he gets laid off - and a HUGE bill for the wasted company time.
- mikeyrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2eminem lyrics are in his favorite quotes...
enough said - Technopotamus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The previous guy was right, all the guys i see on Facebook in the library at school (probably about 60 guys and 90 girls at any given time) are looking at drunk chicks acting slutty. Of all the girls i see using facebook, half of them are hot.
- rocket2dmn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is exactly why I did not register on facebook - I saw how addicted my sister was to it and didn't want to be like that.
Freshman year I made a bet with my roommate that in 4 years I would not join.
In 1 year + a few months he will owe me 100 dollars. - Hoekenheef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have to say, his IT department is pretty cool for not being dicks and notifying his manager right away. But, of course, IT people never get any props. :P
- sol1964, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg is way more addictive than Facebook. There's lots of articles and videos to be seen, plus it's the place to go for the latest news on everything, whereas Facebook is nothing more than a source for drama. Facebook = teh suck.
- valiko75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I guess Charlie is either already fired (but he doesn't know about it yet) or got promoted, for his potential fame on the net.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How do you know he wasn't on lunch when actively browsing, and then minimized the browser most of the rest of the time? The stats are *****.
Now, on to the real point: Anyone obsessed with Facebook is lame as hell. Especially since it's only for people in school, and anyone who doesn't look beyond the end of school is so short-sighted that you probably don't want him working at your company anyway.
It's like 40-year-olds still obsessed with college sports. Get the ***** over it. You're supposed to be living in the real world now. - nbcivic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1500 hours? Maybe it's a really slow connection.
- QEDbitches, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anything can be addicting to the weak willed... especially if they are exclusive, social and/or can assist stalkers in their quest for your personal information.
- Blankford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1College kids especially are so addicted to Facebook it's silly. Their like "Oh my God! That pics sooooo going on Facebook!!! HeHeHeHe"
Makes me wanna punch a baby (DC).
And when I got so fed up and deleted my facebook, nobody even understand what the hell my reasoning was all about.
People judge so critically based on number of friends, what groups your in, number of wall posts, pics.
Facebook is one of many things slowly destroying the social world of actually getting out and meeting people. i ***** hate it - cubedude6491, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1in response to title, no it can't
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe you should get a life?
- bonexaw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And on that note, I shall sign onto my facebook account while here at work.
- michaelb1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Dude, you have a problem. Well...coming up on my fourth hour of surfing digg.

- appleswitch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2[ bands, websites, towns, hobbies, teams, languages ] grow in audiences, It's always popular to selfishly thinks the doors to the world should be closed after you step through. Facebook was cool when It was only for Harvard students, so stfu.
- maddog17, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Charlie is a douche bag. Who in their right mind is on facebook for 4 hours a day anyway...but at work??
- Ramenhood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, I wonder if he just had the site minimized while he was doing his work? Then maybe every 10 minutes, refreshed it, then go back to his work? And he he really cares about money, odds are for alcohol, he'll get off Facebook.
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I think I'm the only one left who doesn't have a myspace/facebook/etc.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1but, really...that is pretty healthy....
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Seriously. coming from someone who is a _web developer_ by trade, this person is a total dork
:P
when i go to facebook, i end up thinking, whats the point? this is seriously too nerdy, and i dont want to drag anyone i know down with me - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The persians rock in that moviie!
