- dillyhoo, on 11/26/2007, -5/+48In other news, Syrian worker production jumps 5000%.
- MikeonTV, on 11/26/2007, -8/+51Israel should send a 'friend request' to Syria.
- vault, on 11/26/2007, -15/+46They just don't want Syrian civilians to realize how bad they have it compared to the rest of the world. Israel always gets blamed for the Arabs' own corruption.
- HeroDreamerCS, on 11/26/2007, -0/+22And yet no one is afraid of New Jersey....
- hassanchop13, on 11/26/2007, -3/+24well, you only need to be the size of a nuclear bomb for everyone to be afraid of you.
tons of americans are afraid of al qaeda, and they dont even have a country.... or a bomb..... - stalefries, on 11/26/2007, -3/+21"Facebook... it's better than MySpace."
- 9a3eedi, on 11/26/2007, -5/+23I'm an Arab, and I hate facebook, but banning facebook because of "Israeli penetration" is seriously sad. Yes, Arab countries don't want anything to do with Israel, but really... banning a social networking site because of the possibility that Israeli propaganda or something will penetrate Syria shows how paranoid and weak they are.
- sinjab, on 11/26/2007, -0/+17I'm Syrian and I confirm. This is what I get when trying to open facebook:

However I can bypass the proxy ;) - popothebright, on 11/26/2007, -2/+19By the way: the above comment is exactly right.
Syria is downright terrified of it's largely unemployed, uneducated and underprivileged teens talking to kids that are doing summer internships, studying at university, playing on sports teams and vacationing in the USA.
Because Syria has an upper class that is rigid and oppressive. And the rest of the country eats their *****. - Mr_Lyle, on 11/26/2007, -1/+17Oh yeah, you wouldn't want Israeli kids and Syrian kids to interact. I mean can you imagine? They might grow up to throw all the old racist, bigoted, war loving politicians out in both counties and actually get along in the future...Can't *****' have that man. Gotta keep teaching them to hate each other otherwise who will they blame for all their left inflicted religious, social and economic problems?
- pintomp3, on 11/26/2007, -1/+15israelly.
- fuzzmeister, on 11/26/2007, -1/+15I found that comment hilarious, until I realized you're probably being serious.
- thebellmaster1x, on 11/26/2007, -0/+13Was.
Applications. - loopyloopy, on 11/26/2007, -0/+11There goes my plans to recruit Syria to my Zombie army
- jkizzle, on 11/26/2007, -0/+9im not afraid of new jersey, im afraid of the smell coming out of it.
- dillyhoo, on 11/26/2007, -0/+9Oddly, the "best source for modular furniture" list is exactly the same.
- objectcode, on 11/26/2007, -5/+14i live in the US and I don't know anyone who is afraid of al qaeda. i do know people who are afraid of our government though
- Shevanel, on 11/26/2007, -0/+7Pokes lead down a bad path...
- ctrlv, on 11/26/2007, -2/+8Yea they might as well cut themselves off from the whole internet to protect themselves from possible american and israeli propaganda lurking in the midst just waiting to penetrate their youth. That or... hmm I don't know... give the benefit of the doubt to their citizens and not treat them like idiots. Let them make their own judgements and rational decisions for themselves? Well, if our government barely does that, I guess it would be hard to expect this from the Syrians.
- loopyloopy, on 11/26/2007, -0/+5thats because they all vote for each other on that list.
its just like Eurovision. - markwilcox, on 11/26/2007, -2/+7mattewood probably uses MySpace.
- solid12345, on 11/26/2007, -0/+5No its a freedom thing, Syria does not want students communicating with each other and planning uprisings or revolts.
- MacParrot, on 11/26/2007, -0/+4I was in both Damascus and Tel Aviv/ Jerusalem some 20+ years ago and the one thing that struck me about the people in the region was that (at least in the major cites) the young people mostly looked and dressed alike. Had a great time in both regions. Tel Aviv has some great beaches and Damascus had really good shopping (especially at the gold souk). Both Damascus and Jerusalem were also fascinating cities to walk around in.
- rajulkabir, on 11/26/2007, -0/+4It's actually pretty decent. I was there last week and was surprised at the speed I got at the net cafes - and even from random open wifi networks around Damascus.
- SaladCactusKing, on 11/26/2007, -3/+7Posting this was probably not a very smart idea
- MacParrot, on 11/26/2007, -0/+4Blue...NO! Green! AAAAAAAHHHHhhhhh...
- PHiZ187, on 11/26/2007, -1/+5Yeah, I think they're thinking of the Catholics, not the jews...
Oh yes, I am going to hell. - loopyloopy, on 11/26/2007, -3/+7people who "hate" facebook dont have any friends
i dunno, just puttin' it out there :) - Nowheredan, on 11/26/2007, -1/+5You're right, that'd never happen. That's why to this day, Native Americans hate all white people and keep trying to kill us.
- loopyloopy, on 11/26/2007, -2/+5... or exist
- popothebright, on 11/26/2007, -3/+6That is, if they had jobs.
- noahtron, on 11/26/2007, -1/+4vault, you ***** NAILED it.
- popothebright, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Well isn't that what dating sites are for?
- Nowheredan, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3"The official statement from officials?" I dunno... this statement sounds a little unofficial to me. To clear up any confusion, they should have called it "The official statement officially from the official officials."
- GuacamoleSan, on 11/26/2007, -11/+14Amazing, Israel is the size of New Jersey and everyone's scared of them.
- bigteebo, on 11/26/2007, -2/+5I'm honestly surprised Syria has Internet access period.
- SaladCactusKing, on 11/26/2007, -3/+6As much as we all hate AT&T they are far less likely to raid your house, destroy your computer, and imprison and lash you. Just sayin'
- NDzImpy, on 11/26/2007, -2/+5'Afraid some people might gets some crazy irrational ideas of freedom'
- upquark, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3I see what you did there.
- lampiaio, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3WHAT... is the capital of Syria?
- overt, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Why stop at Facebook? Block everything every person hates. That'll make the internet awesome.
- Mr_Lyle, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3yeah, the fact that I typed 'left' instead of 'self' just completely negates my entire argument. I'm happy I made you laugh though, nice to see you're so easily amused.
- neko6, on 11/26/2007, -1/+4They're not afraid of Israel's military, they're afraid that the young Syrian start discussing things with young Israelis and Americans and realize that the west isn't evil and that Jews don't really have horns and tails and don't really wanna take over the world... They're also afraid that their dictatorship's corruption and human rights violations are disclosed to the young who might do something about it.
Of all countries, why didn't the US invade Syria? Seems like they need much more saving then Afghanistan or Iraq... Oh wait, no oil. darn. - pintomp3, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3it's ok. it's not like he's talking bad about att or anything.
- stanti, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2"Und Johannis Chimpo is saying 'We must remain true to the Taliban Warlords'"
- shawnanigans, on 11/26/2007, -3/+5I assume the maple leaf means your Canadian and if you are ***** off. I need Facebook to tell me girls are single and if I'm lucky looking for "Random Play."
- DeadtoSin, on 11/26/2007, -6/+8I saw the words "Israeli Penetration" and I just sighed.
