- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+67I'll save my ++digg until there's more of a confirmation than an anonymous "spy" from a website I've never heard of.
- radu79, on 10/12/2007, -3/+62There's always Google Video...
- CheezeMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+51yes, i always get my reliable information from people still using MS Paint.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43Say hello to fair and balanced censorship.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39Not diggworthy until it's proven.
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -13/+43If this rumor is confirmed I suspect its the end of an era in digital media sharing. Fortunately I can still rely on http://www.pornotube.com for uncensored entertainment.
- endtwist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Quit spammi..er.."plugging" your site. Thanks.
- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24This better be innacurate, I don't want to live in world with a Fox controled YouTube.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Oh my God, it's true. I just saw Bill O'Reilly upload a video of himself with a mouthful of mentos and coke. The horror!
- l4wl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11*****, they'll try and merge it with myspace now...
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Buried as inaccurate speculation/rumor.
- aclements, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13"Oh, *****! There goes the planet!"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Again! Begone with!
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9You mean Fox, the company who canceled shows like Family Guy, Futurama, Arrested Development, and Firefly.
- nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I refuse to trust a site who's headline images are edited in MS Paint...
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+6this is up there with the ***** sending snowball messages around myspace claiming ***** are putting HIV infected needles on gas pump handles. it's happening to everyone and their grand pappy sue hammy's brother, but not a single news station or newspaper has covered it.
don't believe everything you read on the internet kids. - Wavey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6That's what I was thinking. If this is true, then Fox will help build Youtube into a money-making entity. And for all of the "*****, there goes the planet" people, Fox does not equal Fox News. You know, home of Family Guy, the Simpsons, etc....some of my favorite stuff originated on Fox.
I don't think they'd get too far with Youtube if they suddenly decided to censor a bunch of stuff on it that they didn't like. I don't think that is very realistic. - peritonlogon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"When will then be now?"
"Soon" - Wavey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No, I mean Fox, the company that *initiated* those shows. You do realize that eventually, shows that you like will get cancelled, don't you?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Marked as innaccurate. Ever since somebody announced how much YouTube was worth, there's been a thousand and one rumors about the next person to buy them out.
Come back when you've got EVIDENCE. - d00fy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You're right. I only trust news sources who pirate Adobe's Photoshop.
*lens flare* - The_Dark_Titan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Hmm... If this is correct, it looks like Kevin Rose was right in calling that Youtube would be bought out in the near future. He must be part of a higher realm...
- everfresh59, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Load of *****!!!
- richmulhern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Did anybody else look at that site before digging this?? It's a site dedicated to celebrity rumors. C'mon now.
- elv1s77, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6if Fox bought YouTube then the terrorists have already won.
- Araxen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Buried...inaccurate and if only I could bury this as spam also!
- Nick22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3doesnt anyone else realize this is obviously a really stupid attempt to get several thousand people reading a blog?
- briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm pretty sure there was an article on digg a little while back where Chad Hurley (CEO of YouTube) stated that they wanted to stay on the path of being independant... Not his exact words though...
They can possibly make it with enough sponsor content to pay the bills, I think... - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6well its going down the ***** now.
- geekdreams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2MySpace already has their own video section. You really think they'll dump that for YouTube?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does this mean free episodes of family guy?!
- tolbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3And finally, a business model for YouTube. Sell, Sell, Sell. Does this really surprise anybody?
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hope this isn't true
- pHr34kY, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2We've already passed 'then'!
- stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes
- vegaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does this mean MySpace will finally be upgraded :)
- wirah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2myspace is web 0.3
- firemillen2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2not digging till confirmed...but gotta comment on that photo....
that chinese dude...is he from the planet of the apes? - Kakaze, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Heh, +rep for you.
- rsd0812, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1myspace is creating their own video playback methods, etc. There's an article on techcrunch. Also, Fox wouldn't buy youtube is its present state because they would be liable for so many copyright infringement suits, it wouldn't be funny (or maby it would).
- mtgvault, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2FOX? Have they canceled it yet? :p
- perfectsquare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll say it again. Some blog with a rumor in 1 or 2 sentences makes it to the front page of Digg. Awesome work. How does this work?
Oh, they have Adsense on their page? That has nothing to do with it.
If I had a blog and posted that Pee Wee Herman will be bombing Belleaire tomorrow, would that take? Because I have as many facts backing up my story as this. - cliktokill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I guess kevins predictions were right
- Tanbo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If it's true, which I doubt, well that's too bad. Would have made a great content play for Apple, which could have offered its videos thru the new iTunes and "iTV".
- l4wl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONGf4oRhr8I
heh. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2A post so nice I friggin posted it twice. Sorry.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Wouldn't it make more sense if NBC bought Youtube?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1if they did then it was probably to stop family guy clips faster.
- Kakaze, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It wouldn't make any sense for ANY media company—FOX, NBC, CBS, etc—to buy YouTube because they will slowly start to censor and pare down any information that, 1 is illegal, and that 2, interferes with their corporate image—which is just about 90 percent of all submitted content.
If any of the media companies were to buy YouTube it would eventually turn into a site offering nothing but corporately sanctioned clips with the majority of the content being pay to play. Media companies don't care about anything but the audience, and right now they've got several million people and they're betting that a fair amount of them will stay and be content with being spoon fed whatever crap the company wants to give them. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4The good stuff is now on Google Video anyway.
TV series (*****, Charlie Rose show), lectures (UCTV, From the Googleplex, TED talks, ...), documentaries:
