- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19The scary part is that FOX Interactive Media is in charge of all this. This would be a terrible thing if it were to happen.
- brianbb98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Anyone else feeling thirsty all of a sudden?
- benhorstmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9maybe they could have the enire screen be the ad, and hide the news withn it :(
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Should be soon now that virb has launched. Or maybe not. One can hope though.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Myspace having a news site is about as smart as a beer company getting into the auto industry
- m0nk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yeah, I can't imagine what sort of "News" is going to end up there....
- DforSpiD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8That is ugly as *****... With a LOVELY evian ad...
and you people are forgetting ONE of MySpace's biggest (and worst) user groups... wannabe gangsters...
Do yourself a favour and do NOT find this out for yourself... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Let the f*** begin! (select your "f" word: fun - ***** - ***** - feast - fraud - feces - foolishness - folly - fledgling - featureless - social )
- deathscytheh64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I'll give it to Myspace that they didn't blatantly rip Digg off like Netscape did (are people still using that?), but I think that both "features" that Myspace and Netscape use to put stories on its front page are magnitudes lamer then Digg's system.
- HeyItsJeremy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The one really ***** up thing I can't stand about myspace is that no other section on the site looks like any other. Every section looks like it was made by a totally different development team. And this "news" section continues to carry that same tradition.
- Condottieri, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It looks nice, but I doubt that the top stories will be about U.S. highways and Windows Vista. They should have replaced those stories with articles about Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and articles from Cosmopolitan.
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm worried that the word "exclusive" followed by a colon is appearing in digg headlines. Join me in burying any and all hollywood/music celebrity-oriented stories, and together we can keep digg a FUD-free, myspace-user-free, intellectual place on them there internets.
- ricepudd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I consider MySpace to be the equivalent of the local takeaway... ok it may smell and be surrounded by litter, but at least the kids congregate there rather than around my doorstep!
- sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Especially since digg is just a site that links to other articles. Its not even possible for digg to have an "exclusive"
- joerod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5connan o'brian had a great joke about this last night... i think this is pretty lame, people don't go on myspace to check the news. now if the news is perezhilton or thesuperfical or page 6 maybe it will work. the last place i want to go for any information is myspace or for that matter new corp.
- liquidizer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Read it while you can. FOX will have that material pulled for copyright infringement as quick as they can. That's why reporters usually report, instead of just publishing leaked documents.
- regindk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The place to find crap news... Myspace news....
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I ran out of edit time, but News is not the way to redeem themselves. As a 16 year old, I look around at some of my peers on myspace and realize what self absorbed unintelligent people they are (thankfully not too many of my friends). They don't care about the news. Myspace is for posting stupid bulletins and cloning themselves by taking unoriginal I-try-to-hard-to-be-trendy pictures. If you were to ask them something as simple as who's running for president in 08 they would have no idea. Myspace is trying desperately to innovate but they're doing the wrong things.
- jcblitz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4virb has to do something about it's spam friend requests. I signed up 3 days ago and have already gotten 10 "friend" requests from totally random people either selling something or pushing something, which is one of my pet peeves about myspace.
- Condottieri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@doctorsax
I was actually comparing it to the rest of myspace.
Comparing it to the rest of the internet, of course, and it sucks ass. - redskyformiles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2to quote Conan O'Brien "the new myspace news page's number 1 article 'Why is Stacy Being Such a Bitch'"
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think we can expect a lot of "Fox exclusive" stories being bumped to the front page of the site.
- Dreamchaser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3WooT!! Beware Diggers :D !
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's obvious they're trying to save a sinking ship. People are tired of Myspace being the same as it was in 2003 and not innovating to keep up with the features of Facebook (which is quite well designed if you haven't tried it out). That's why so many of my friends have given up on it and have been flocking to facebook. It won't be long before Myspace is the next Friendster.
- icall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow, lucky us, now young minds all across the world can be warped by the Fox News misinformation propaganda machine.
- championchap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, it says the news stores wont be user submitted.. instead they will be taken from various other sites.
So im guessing you'll see frontpage news on there with a massive 3 votes!
Seriously.. nobody uses mySpace unless they are looking for sex. - poohat1000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1competition is good, digg will always be where i come for tech news, its community is based in that field and always will be. Mainstream news I still go to bbc.com.
myspace news will be bogus as hell..... its main problem is that its a site thats meant to be controlled by "the people" yet its run by FOX - who have a legitimate reputation for feeding people "their version" of the news. I don't believe they would let this out the gate without SEVERE back door moderation taking place.
it should be tested - when it launches everyone should digg the most anti news-corp anti-murdoch article they can find (on myspace) and see if they let it get to the front page.
I dont think so.
Digg shouldn't be worried about them stealing any of their CURRENT userbase - look at those big ***** off icons they're using - the amount of real estate their giving to the actual content. Not good, digg and reddit have it right with a clean simple text based layout - i can easily scan LOTs of articles and read what i want - why would any digg user move to this instead?
Only thing digg could be worried about is that this site may take some of the market they may want to move into - the myspace kids, because as we all know - theres ***** millions of the suckers. However the fact that this is now going to be more difficult for them means we'll maintain the status quo here a lil bit more and will probably work out better for us (readers)........
good news really. - Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well they don't seem very exclusive now...
- jaredseth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2digg FUD-free and intellectual? Either your tongue is firmly embedded in your cheek or you're new here.
- chr40004, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well, that's the chance to bomb that page with anti-FOX stuff.
- DrScott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Soon people will be scratching their heads trying to figure out how it was possible for such a large series of tubes to asphyxiate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Buried for ***** attempt at viral advertising.
- sp111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why the ***** does Myspace have to make everything so butt ugly. If they make so much money they should have a design team to redesign the .NET application.
- raynevandunem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is it that Myspace always looks like its running on a screen-space deficit?
I mean seriously, the chunks of space taken up by each module on a Myspace page (the front page, the user page, any page) looks the ***exact same way*** on both 1024x768 and 1280x800.
This doesn't look *any* different. - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Myspace + Fox News........the new conservative generation will be born
MWAHAHAHA!!! MWHAAHAHH!!! MWHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
/just in case you didn't catch it....that was sarcasm....and a bit of fear that Murdoch was thinking the same thing - expert01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm already pissed that they blatantly ripped off craigslist. Seriously, they have the same ***** cities and the same ***** categories. It's a ***** clone.
- kevets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully they will include an RSS feed reader for profiles. This would add a great deal of functionality.
- shootdashit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i agree. this is fox's opportunity to distort young people's minds who don't tune into their news channel.
i do think this idea may have more of an impact than people want to think it will. my girlfriend, for instance, won't really turn to digg for news because she doesn't want to get stuck on another site. myspace has a strong base of social gathering already established, with all sorts of ages. having news in the digg format on myspace will be something those on myspace will digg. and it's not that i'm a big myspace fan, but digg users have passed around photos of fat chicks (later determined to have been photoshopped) and just made fun of her. is that any more mature than the average mypsace user you're tring to put down because they are sticking to what's trendy now? - superrcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about you recode the crap ASP, ASPX and Coldfusion pages MySpace already has? It's amazing how many people use MySpace with its clumsy functionality and error handling.
- championchap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2My Spaaaace!
They've taken over Earth.. unfortunatly.. next stop the entire Galaxy! - aldomatic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yea it's evil! it has a master plan to take over the social side of things
- g00dETH3R, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That’s great, I hope all the “MySpace/ Pop Idol / Britney / Foxnews” fanboys/fangirls migrate to that site and stay off Digg forever.
- kevinhartwig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can only imagine the garbage that fox news will put up there. Combine that with random myspace "news" and it will be unreadable.
- reconbot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I started saying it to my friends who got obsessed with myspace. But it stuck and now every single time someone mentions "myspace" I respond.
"Myspace is evil and must be destroyed."
I think I was originally inspired by a reported who looked into it's origins as a pay dating site but Fox News wouldn't let him publish his work. - InstantRamen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I sadly saw this on attack of the show on g4. ( i like to watch the feed segment).

What is Digg?
