- virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Glad it wasn't Gizmodo! :)
- ArchieAndrews, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9But I just read a story on Gizmodo about how they DID win it and it will be announced Monday...
- rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Seeing as digg has 0 original content (other than comments), I doubt it would win the award. I also wouldn't call digg incredibly complex. I would call digg incredibly simple. That's why I use it.

They got 40.09% - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think Ars Technica is a lot better, to be honest. Oh well.
- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What the hell are you talking about? They said an iPhone would be released the following Monday, and low and behold, that's what happened.
- Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yeah I'm not trying to start another flame war about this but...remember the Engadget scandal in March?
http://www.dapreview.net/news.php?extend.3106 - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Exactly. I'm suprised no one noticed that the "iPhone is coming Monday" thing conspicuously omitted the word "Apple" anywhere in it.
Everyone was so busy speculating why Apple hadn't announced a press event, or how maybe "Monday" was weeks away because Gizmodo didn't specify which Monday - but no one noticed that they also never said Apple was the one making the iPhone.
I thought it was pretty funny, especially how bent out of shape so many people got over it. - guard952, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Judges must've been using adblock
- Kevinok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Duh, of course Engadget won, it is the best tech blog hands down.

Wed, Dec20, Gizmodo ran the story "Thank You for Voting: We Didn't Win the Weblog Awards"
It said the following:
"Some of you guys love reading Giz as much as we love writing it. But sometimes, that ain't enough to fight off the haters. After the dust settled on the Internort, we ended up scoring as runner ups for the weblog tech awards. Congratulations to Ryan Block and Engadget, our rivals, who are doing a good job over there." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@armbar
And Slashdot is a lot better than that. I can't believe Slashdot didn't win...
*ducks* - dmron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Jeez, do we really need a story about this on digg? I love engadget and all but who cares about this award, seriously?
- cam18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm...I really like Ars Technica better...but Engadget is good too...
- norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lots of sites make up awards just to promote their lame products. It's been going on for years!
- manova, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How did Gizmodo hurt the user? By giving the ipod fanboys wet dreams? Plagiarism is worse in my opinion.
- fuckingusername, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't believe in web awards to easy to create sister site and give my self an award .
- Aero1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yuck!
gizmodo > engadget - inturnaround, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And yes, I realize it's Lam....now.
- inturnaround, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I believe it had an Apple tag initially.
The story was written to intentionally mislead...which is the last thing you want to do when people trust you to deliver news. Since a news site trades in credibility, their worth as a news site went down after that story. Doubly so since there were apparently no consequences for Mr Lamb. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3It's great to see Peter Rojas and Ryan Block, both AIDS and Anorexia sufferers, defy their diseases and reach such a high level of success!
Keep up the good work guys, you're a role model for people everywhere. - nace33, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I am an advocate of both Engadget and Gizmodo, but when Gizmodo pulled that iphone stunt last week I lost a lost of respect for them. That was very irresponsible. GO ENGADGET!!!
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22006 Weblog Awards?

Engadget gets... 9230.
Congratulations? - groovehouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Didn't Engadget used to have that terrible futuristic font that was virtually illegible? Glad to see they changed it and they won an award. I can guarantee you they wouldn't win an award with the horrific font they used to use.
- Mactard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@Zanky...Digg is a techNews site, lolololololoool,.
lolololololool.
ok I made my point. - borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -9/+7didn't realize it was considered a blog. I always thought of it as a tech news site.
Anyway: well deserved. Engadget is very good. - norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That too is a shameful blogging practice, but it didn't really hurt the user, like Gizmodo did.
- ZaNkY, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Well technically, Digg can almost be viewed as a blog itself, even though it's classified as a tech news site.
Post based content, by multiple users, constantly updating the front page (with archives of older articles/posts). You can almost say that Digg is an incredibly complex CMS.
But yeah, Engadget is a blog. I wonder what would happen if Digg tried to apply for the same award.... would Weblogs be able to fit Digg into a 'blog' category? hmmmz.... (probably not, but just thinking out loud)
