- heyitsme23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3they've been sued over 800m? I think any normal company would have changed their strategy by now if they still exist.
- Acqua206, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Microsoft can't pull out of the EU. If they did, that would be the birth of a massive open source movement, the beginning of the end of Microsoft.
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That makes sense. Instead of a relatively small fine they lose billions.
- coolmos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow, this article must have been posted by a Microsoft shill. Antitrust 'czar'? Come on, what kind of reporting is this?
The basic idea is very simple. For innovation, you need competition. Microsoft is killing the competition in an unfair way. The EU is taking a stand against it.
What is the problem here? Microsoft, not the EU.
This article is inaccurate, and therefore buried as such. - selectodude, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I wish Microsoft would just pull out of the EU completely. This is getting annoying.
- leszek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4me too.
(and i am european) - krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -4/+4wow, this article really makes the EU commissioner sound like a douchebag. "remove security from your software or else!"
and i don't even like microsoft. - washingtonydc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I heart Neelie Kroes
- jgtg32a, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Also Boeing and Airbus
- iNoles, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1MS should pull out of EU so EU can't fine MS anymore?
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4"Far from pursuing a vendetta against Microsoft, the Commission's actions are guided by... competitors like x company not being able to win in y product market on Windows so they sue, etc..."
* Fixed
Replace x with a company (Like, Real) and y with an app (Like, RealPlayer) - bam, there you go. - GrayOne, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4The EU just doesn't like successful American coroprations. They have corporate penis envy if you will.
Like when the F'ed over GE during the GE Honeywell merger, even though the US government was even helping them (GE) out. - IQ70, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1The only open source software that will see a rise in use will be Azureus.
- synportack24, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0This is a first for Microsoft, someone is backing them up from getting their ass sued! They should love it while it last, cause we all know times like this are few and far between.
- sleepyness, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1"European Union officials have warned Microsoft not to shut out rivals in the security software market, as the company plans to launch Vista with built-in protection against hackers and malicious programs."
wtf..............
I hope the Vista computers the EU uses get pwned 3 seconds upon booting. -.- Lame EU, LAME. The EU has some pretty retarded government folk.
