- jakash, on 06/30/2009, -7/+282This is good news for everyone... except MrBabyMan
- SexyPopMachine, on 06/30/2009, -8/+145Proof that the update works well: http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/575/picture1fvj ...
- squareears, on 06/30/2009, -2/+99this story appears twice on the home page... proof that the system works :D
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -20/+115The submission about a dupe checker was a dupe that the new dupe detector failed to detect. LOVE IT
http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Releases_New_Dupe_C ... - flossdaily, on 06/30/2009, -4/+72Dupe detection was already working just fine.
What isn't working is digg's complete unwillingness to police power users. - sfrench, on 06/30/2009, -2/+55Another thing people might be interested in. We turned the viewcounts on the diggbar back on.
- justjeninsf, on 06/30/2009, -1/+34asgardshill - That's in reference to people who choose to submit a duplicate even after we've shown them the original story. If people choose to continue to circumvent the dupe screen, we'll be collecting that information & may or may not take action in those cases.
- Taiyoryu, on 07/01/2009, -0/+26Technically, they're two different sources.
- beatbinky79, on 06/30/2009, -1/+25They both appeared on the home page the same minute. Nice.
- PterionFracture, on 07/01/2009, -0/+24Now all they have to do is get rid of duplicate comments!
- iloveburritos, on 07/01/2009, -1/+24Now all they have to do is get rid of duplicate comments!
- KibblesnBitts, on 06/30/2009, -1/+23....anyone see the article above this one?
- ycohain, on 06/30/2009, -6/+27sorry that i'm skeptical, but i don't see this getting rid of dupe submissions from power users.
- EskNerd, on 06/30/2009, -2/+22Pfft. I posted this like a week ago.
- mmpre, on 07/01/2009, -0/+17Don't know what you mean, he obviously is exempt...
http://digg.com/search?s=adobe+shuts+down&fltd ... - inactive, on 07/01/2009, -0/+16We dont need Dupe Detection.
We need Dupe DELETION - aeck, on 07/01/2009, -0/+15Your comment about the dupe-detection article being duped is a dupe.
- Genecalypse, on 06/30/2009, -1/+16Looks like it working guys
- wentwj, on 06/30/2009, -2/+15A lot of people don't seem to understand what dupe detection means.. It's not going to stop two different stories on the same topic from being submitted.
The fact that there are multiple different stories posted about this is not proof that the dupe detection does or does not work. - rebrad, on 07/01/2009, -0/+12Your first statement is false, but the second statement is right on so I dugg you up.
I think the blog article was nothing more than a poor attempt at job justification. - renanrrinaldi, on 07/01/2009, -2/+14This is good news for everyone... except MrBabyMan
- piieerrrree, on 07/01/2009, -0/+10BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
- davidwasman, on 06/30/2009, -7/+16MakiMaki, msaleem, MrBabyMan, badwithcomputer, etc ... Your days are (hopefully) numbered.
- DaviDTC, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9I don't know all the technical stuff of how the new system works, so perhaps you can tell me how those two were suppose to be matched up in the detection system. Looking at the titles and descriptions, there is nothing the same, different sites and different story.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -4/+13Those aren't kittens, those are gay firemen.
- SirBruce, on 06/30/2009, -2/+10This is beautiful irony.
- bbhill, on 07/01/2009, -0/+8ACT IN THE NEXT TEN MINUTES AND I'LL THROW IN A DUPLICATE COMMENT FOR FREE!!! THATS RIGHT, FREE!! JUST PAY ADDITIONAL S&H!
- TheIndigoSky, on 07/01/2009, -1/+8This one was in before the one you linked to.
- DelMonte, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7From the digg blog: "While we pilot the new dupe detection system, we will continue to only block submissions of the exact same URLs within a 30-day period. "
So, if some jerk was the first to submit this story with the title/description "Kevin Rose Sucks Squirrels", it would be locked for 30-days before someone could re-submit the same URL with a proper description? Nice...
Solution: Merge duplicates and let users vote for the best description/title. - dagamer34, on 06/30/2009, -3/+9I like how this story was duped: http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Goes_to_the_Source_ ...
- crossmr, on 07/01/2009, -4/+10When MrBabyman is banned we'll have proof they've done anything. They already check for duplicates, they already have powerusers clicking "I swear its original" and they do nothing.
- hyderalamgir, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6Now all they have to do is get rid of duplicate comments!
- NiceGuyVan, on 07/01/2009, -0/+5He can hit the emergency bypass button
- getter1, on 06/30/2009, -3/+8http://digg.com/comedy/Diggs_Dupe_Detection_Fail
- lougoose, on 07/01/2009, -1/+6I like how this is a duplicate of the comment right above it.
- bobartig, on 07/01/2009, -0/+5Dupe!
http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Duplicate_stories_direct ... - reuscel, on 07/01/2009, -0/+5Now all they have to do is get rid of duplicate comments!
- kinseyincanada, on 06/30/2009, -4/+8hahahahah theres 2 stories on this on the front page now.
- DiggityDugged, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4Only about 2 years too late. Is it finally time to start submitting to Digg again?
- nshady, on 07/01/2009, -1/+5Now all they have to do is SHUT THE ***** UP.
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4yo dawg...
- iEATcatFOOD, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4someone who duped from me dugg this article.
hypocrisy FTW! - gringer, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3<quote>So, if some jerk was the first to submit this story with the title/description "Kevin Rose Sucks Squirrels", it would be locked for 30-days before someone could re-submit the same URL with a proper description? Nice...</quote>
Or if someone submits an "ubuntu nextversion released" article for ubuntu.com one day before release, it would be locked for 30 days... - townsendmerino, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3am i the only one who hates the fricking digg bar?
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3I know I shouldn't point out power users for finding and submitting great content (not my words) but MrBabyMan is not the only power user.
I'm pretty sure I've seen lists, I had my own a while back before realising it was a losing battle from my end trying to avoid digging their submissions.
These updates won't stop power digging, but I hope that they cut the number of dupes - from the wording of the blog post it seems like they will. - NiceGuyVan, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3The button that lets them submit it anyway defeats the point
- mmpre, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3Man, I HATE the changes that you made to the comments when I'm not logged in. It sucks that they are sorted by most diggs first, and god forbid I try to change it because then I can't see any comments. And the thread/reply under the number of diggs is just too distracting.
- atgmac, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2http://i40.tinypic.com/zk1htc.png
- veins, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2your comment is a dupe. you made the exact same comment on the other article about new dupe detection.
- Baskinghobo, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Pfft.. Diggbar. they should show the viewcount on the digg comment page, not the diggbar.
