- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23How about Digg fixing the goddamn Search function!
Diggs search has always been bad, but since a couple of months it's completely broken - just as an example, searching for "Banana phone", with quotes, will give you more hits than just searching for the word Banana. - Universal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Direct link/mirror: http://www.duggback.com ;-)
- bhavi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13First the firefox extension and now this. The best part is with the API this is just the beginning of brilliant applications/mashups!
- ivc-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Nice to see you like the service! The official launch will be on Monday.
- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I wish this kind of thing was built right into digg **nudge-nudge-wink-wink-to-digg-staff**
Otherwise, this is still a extremely useful service, a very good use of the Digg API. W00T! - KungFuJesus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yeah, the search algorithm is inexcusably bad. It's pretty much useless. I end up doing a google search with site:digg.com
- Lennalf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9WhiteEEnerd:
There are ads on that site?
Adblock Plus FTW! - whiteEEnerd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I think that duggback needs a few more ads.
- rejoined, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Use the *reply* button MrPresident...its there for a purpose.
- iBookG4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6You win the "WTF?!" award of the day. Collect your prize by closing your internet browser and leave your computer.
- ivc-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I still don't understand how DuggMirror and DuggTrends can use Dugg in their domain name. They've used it since Digg got their main Digg trademark, yet they haven't changed it.
- misterhardcore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder if the that could lead to the "digg" effect on duggback.com :)
- TheLD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope you realise that if this does become popular, the bandwidth bills will be quite high
- fkr3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think they better start thinking up a new name, case "dugg" is trademarked.
"DIGG, DIGG IT, DUGG, DIGG THIS, Digg graphics, logos, designs, page headers, button icons, scripts, and other service names are the trademarks of Digg Inc."
I like the idea of having the categories all down the side. Having to click three or four times to get anywhere on this site makes my already strained wrist cry. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1From the "About" page on DuggBack (http://www.duggback.com/about/):
"All of the ideas and coding for the site began late Januaray 2007 and the initial site was launched 30th April 2007 (pre-launch 27th, gigaom)."
That's a pretty forward-looking statement for being in the past tense. :-) - newstart, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3This story is going to rule the top diggs today! its so cool!
- johnshooter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I think this is a total misuse of the API. Yeah, function is there but what the hell is the point in launching another digg using their own data and profiting from the ad revenue? You don't have to do ***** and you make money off it.
This is the reason why companies don't release this type of info and I hope Digg does something to stop the leaches. It's splitting revenue hairs.
If you use Digg's API, drop ALL advertising. - Konstantino, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah, I completely agree. There needs to be some sort of mirror link on digg stories. Nonetheless, the idea behind DuggBack is awesome. What puts it above DuggMirror is the fact that it gives you caches from all sorts of websites, which makes things more likely to be found.
- Bhima, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Finally, a website we can view all the 9/11 spam!
I had no idea this was such a pressing issue. - rejoined, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4I have seen that..every 3 or 4 weeks or so..comes a lull of 2 or 3 days when not a single news on Digg's front page (including the Top 10 of all topics on the right side) are worth reading or interesting enough to click.
The only news which have piqued my interest when I logged in right now at 1.50 pm CST 4/28/07..is the post *Could black holes be portals to other universes?* and the comments to the post http://digg.com/space/Could_black_holes_be_portals_to_other_universes
are just barely ok...because not a whole lot of diggers are hard core astronomers or physicists (including me)...for the comments to be intelligent or perceptive to the subject in hand. But, nonetheless..these kind of news about the universe and stuff, fascinates a lot of Diggers (including me)..and thats all that matters.
Oh, and I know that a rant like this is going to be buried under an avalanche of negative diggs..but I really don't care. You see, Digg doesnt allow its' users a proper forum to channel their raves and rants..and the only place one could do..is here..where comments like these are instantly targeted for virtual demolition, using the negative digg effect.
Ohh, btw..I love MrBabyMan's Digg submissions. Usually most, if not all, his submissions are very well researched..with well-thought, catchy subject lines and descriptions. Evidently he puts a lot of effort in his search for Duggable submissions (via RSS feeds I suppose), and his endeavors in this regard are worth laudable. - MrPresident13, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1dammit i screwed that one up
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Good luck keeping the url once digg's legal department sees dugg in the name
- MrPresident13, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1@Junkyarddawg - Nobody is asking making you visit digg. Get off if you think it sucks.
