- keng, on 10/12/2007, -9/+140Understand this; i love diggnation and get it every week but "Best Tech Podcast"?!
the PCPA should be ashamed of themselves....twit is FAR better as a tech podcast. - Kumaku, on 10/12/2007, -8/+58@tsunamisteve
Have you ever listened to the AUDIO format of TWiT? - tlfillingim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41http://podcastawards.com/index.php?option=rules
"2005 Winner of People's Choice Award. "This Week in Tech" and Best Produced "Daily Source Code" are not eligible to win in any category." - thomasknowland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33As the list grows of "podcasts that should have won" remember this. They're all better than G4...
- whalesalad, on 10/12/2007, -14/+45We're talking podcast here, not vidcast. In terms of podcast's, TWiT is just as keng said, far superior. Diggnation is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. I wear a diggnation tshirt just because the t-shirt gods keep ***** up, thusfar they have released a diggnation and I digg ____ shirt, I JUST WANT A DIGG TSHIRT.
- zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30I love diggnation, but I love my twit just a tiny bit more. It's just more informative and longer with more people in it, although diggnation is funnier, it's usually better to watch than listen to.
- blapierre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30People's Choice Podcast Awards?
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -20/+47TWiT all the way.
Kevin Rose is cool but Alex Albrecht is just plain annoying, a 30-year-old trying to sound like half his age.
So at TWiT I can listen to Kevin (he's a regular there) without having "duuuude" and "aaawwwwesome" in my ears every 40 seconds.
FLOSS Weekly (also produced by Leo Laporte) is also great..in the last 3 weeks they interviewed the creators of Perl, Python and PHP! Quite impressive. - Paladin27, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23I love Diggnation and it is on my top 5 best podcasts that I listen to every week.. but seriously... best TECH podcast? That is really unfair to This Week in Tech, Security Now, This Week in Media, and others. Diggnation is more the VH1 "Best Week Ever" of internet culture.
- J6stik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21At first I thought I would see 100 comments on this saying "OMG DIGGNATION RULZ" but I'm glad to see people realize that Diggnation probably shouldn't have gotten the award. If there was an entertainment/tech award, then I'd put Diggnation up for that.
I love Diggnation; it's funny and entertaining and delivers tech news, but TWiT, while it may not be as colorful, gives way more tech news in each episode and covers way more in-depth stuff. - TheMysteryCow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I'm a really, really big Diggnation fan, but I *detest* the live episodes. For the audio-only folks, listening to the live episodes is like listening to the audio feed from a frat party. Lots of "woooos" and drunk people yelling "DIGGNATION" and calling for shots. It was funny the first time, but eventually it just got really, really old.
If it's a live episode, I skip it.
That being said, I'm still a big fan of the regular "studio" episodes. Congratulations, guys. - lunchbox170, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I like Diggnation too, but I also think that maybe Security Now should have won. That's a really good podcast.
- daurkin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Holy Cow, TWiT is not eligible to win in any category. That's kind of wierd and odd how it's bolded. I wonder if there is some bad blood or conflict of intrest somewhere.
- Warpling, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I like digg, I like the sidetracking, the expressions, the words, the beers, if you want tech news go to the sites that create the podcasts.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Guys, TWiT didn't win because it won in 2005. No podcast is allowed to win consecutively.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Digg is ok, but can be annoying. Especially when I've read the stories about a week before they're on the podcast. TWIT and Security Now is far better, and Digital TV (or whatever Patrick Norton has) is better.
Oh well, no surprise. - skellener, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I have to agree. Diggnation is fun. TWIT is the best podcast though.
- Warpling, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20This comment is so gona be burried when this hits front page
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yea, it is a fun podcast, but its like listening to two frat boys who just discovered alchohol.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Gotta partially agree with you there, while I do love Diggnation, the live shows annoy me a little, I'm sure they're having fun, but it's not as much fun to listen to
I'd have probably voted Diggnation best podcast, and Twit best tech podcast - wbreim, on 10/12/2007, -10/+18I thought podcasts were about what every person wants... awards ony make sense for the b.s. network television as a way to self-promote their mass marketed crap. Podcast awards is b.s.
- lukee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8So here's the deal...
- cmw72, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Diggnation is hilarious, but not exactly tech related. I like my TWiT or DLTV for that kind of stuff.
Diggnation is so enjoyable because of the personalities, not necessarily the subject matter. - Jumangi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7While I love Digg.com I stopped getting the Diggnation podcasts awhile ago. Sometimes they're funny but too often it just got to sounding like 2 guys screwing around and laughing all the time and just get tiring. Its sort of like the difference between being around drunk people when your sloshed too and watching drunk people when your sober. Its not the same.
- samgab, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7No, what he/she said makes sense. He/She doesn't like the cursing, and therefore wants a CENSORED version. He/She bewails the fact that it is UNcensored.
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"Best tech podcast" is a pretty impressive feat. Especially considering one guy kinda knows his tech and the other just pulls information out of his ass.
- soulonice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Best technology/science podcast? They spend the first 15 minutes screwing around, talking about the beer that they admittedly know little about, some of Alex's stupidity, run through the Digg headlines for the week, and then smore more of Alex's stupidity. there's little technology or science discussion, just alex going "Blah blah, blippity bloppity bloo!" it's ridiculous.
- hzrds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Technology should have been a separate category, not mixed in with science. While I listen to Diggnation I don't agree it's the best "Technology" podcast there should have been more technology competition.
- ziggystardust, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Direct link
http://podcastawards.com/ - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -5/+10I'd rather watch a new episode of diggnation than listen to a new episode of twit(which I also love). Best TECH podcast doesn't mean it has to be the most informative podcast, it just means it's the best and in my book that means the most entertaining.
I know some of you don't like Alex because he can be annoying at times, but he's all around pretty damn funny and it's his humor in contrast to Kevin's that makes it funny. Good team. The best parts are when Alex gets Kevin to say stuff he doesn't want to admit or will regret later.
Best Tech podcast? Yeah I think so. Twit is definately #2 in my book tho. - and1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9exactly..
- dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I stopped watching diggnation awhile ago, Alex spends more time flipping his hair around then reading anything informative and passing it along in the podcast. He seems to be stuck in a mid-life crisis, like he's still 21, but he's not, and it shows.
Next week in diggnation, alex will still be saying " LIKE THEY WANNA TALK SHIZZ AHHHHHHHHH OK GIMME BEER I HAVE LOW SELF ESTEEM :( " - davidro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Why? You want to hear them go on about politics? Celebrities? Tech is clearly their thing. Alex is also good with food and has a podcast about that. Why do you want to hear people casually chat about things they probably know about as much as or less than you about?
- samgab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yeah, I really like DLTV. I actually really enjoy the balance Robert Heron adds to the show. But sometimes I find Patrick's "...cool guy stuff..." and "...another fine blended edition..." a little grating. But no big deal.
- sp4rky, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Am i the only one that things its lame that this guy blogged it then digged hsi blog entry. Lame *****...?
- lastthingusee, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9The fact that you made this point to everybody that TWiT can't win still won't stop everybody from complaining, unfortunately
- Crypty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Boooo. DL.tv is a much better tech podcast. So is twit.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Digg.com is great. Diggnation is pretty bad. I mean, c'mon guys. Two guys drinking beer and rehashing Digg content does not an award make. I used to subscribe to the podcast but it just got two hard to listen two (not a typo).
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh man I would NEVER watch Diggnation. Audio-only. That way I can listen while I'm driving, taking a crap or whatever.
Much less chance of completely wasting my time.
And I like Diggnation. - Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'll give you that. MacBreak is well done and the content is excellent, if you are or want to be a Mac user. Since it is for a fairly limited audience it probably would not win best tech award.
- leapingfrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You guys whine too much. Who cares that he linked to his blog, esp. after he said in the blog post he did so because he could not find a submittable URL? He recapped it a lot better than any other site I've seen.
I'm a big diggnation fan, since their Las Vegas episode (Episode 6), but I do agree that Diggnation is not the best "tech" podcast. I watch it for entertainment, not substance, which it lacks, and rightfully so -- it's suppose to be drunk/funny talk, not serious, which is what I like about it. However, I feel the show has been declining since around episode 22. While there have been some good episodes between then and now (some of the live ones have been great), there is still something about those first 20+ episodes that I miss. - samgab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Meh, people do that all the time. He should have posted the direct link to the awards site. But that's how lots of people roll.
- rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Ops sorry, it was not the creator or Perl, but one of the top Perl hackers.
- shosterman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I will re-subscribe to dl.tv when they get rid of the other guy, Robert. I can't stand his voice, his whiny cracked laugh and his absurd comments. On that same note, I tried 3 or 4 episodes of Diggnation no thanks.
- matts0344, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same thing I thought when I saw this headline. I saw the nominations a while ago and was very surprised when I saw that TWIT wasn't even nominated.
Diggnation is fun sometimes but if you are interested in tech news listen to This Week In Tech. And where the hell was Digital Life TV? - vhtrading, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3TWIT is the best tech podcast. Security now is also excellent; Steve Gibson is able to take overly-technical and often boring security concepts and make them understandable and interesting.
Diggnation is ok in small doses (and often funny), but a full 40 minutes Alex week in and week out is enough to make you want to drive a steak knife in your ears. - YoctoYotta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ daurkin
I was surprised too. I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the fact that they would sweep most tech related awares and the awards group wanted to highlight other people out in the podcasting community, but I don't know, on the otherhand, you'd think being very popular would not disqualify you from a popularity contest. Go figure. - bluehouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5To skip the blog spam go to www.podcastawards.com
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It is an EXCELLENT podcast, and I really really enjoy it. I just don't listen to it for any tech related news or insight.
I do happen to like listening to two frat boys who sound like they just discovered alcohol. Brings back the good old days.
For tech content, TWiT and Security Now are definately better. For pure humor, I'm an Infected fan all the way. That is some funny *****. - r00tus3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4yup, diggnation isn't that great. Digg is an AMAZING idea, and probably the best website in the universe, but the podcast is just average. I'd even give it to hak5 before them.
