- ethernet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43Monday can't come soon enough!!
- Carbito, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44I am going to be so glad when the "not tech" crowd is finally silenced. Its going to be great to see Digg expand beyond its original roots.
I also noticed that there is still no Microsoft category on the new version of Digg... - logic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39"If I hear "This isn't Tech News" again I'm going to lose it."
How is you losing it tech related?? This surely does not belong on digg! - D4r7h3v1l, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34broomrape, quick test. Which hurts digg more?
A) interesting, but not strictly tech related stories.
or
B) flamers posting comments about what digg should be and why it sucks.
take your time. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31If I hear "This isn't Tech News" again I'm going to lose it. I hate when people try to say what Digg is. It's whatever the users want it to be.
- burtonbe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20I can't wait for mid-July for Digg-Incoming. Very, very sweet.
- Nodren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13why is there a redirect link?
actual link: http://revision3.com/diggnation/2006-06-22/ - curlyman500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Gonna call into work Monday so i can take my time to check out digg....or because I hate my job...
- RedGiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11How about for the Digg Spy on Crack, to just call it 'Digg Swarm'? I mean, it's a map that shows the Swarm of viewers and their activities around digg. It only make sense.
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yea, all the torrents aren't working. But on the HTTP download of the H264 high quility, I got like 600+ kbps all the way.
- steve693, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Looks amazing, I really like the new features. It seems like they're really focused on getting digg ready for some major expansion. digg incoming looks really trippy. I could watch that thing all day. . .
But I still want to see the "lo-fi" digg that we've been promised since Digg 2.0 came out. =( I guess it's not a priority, but it'd still be cool to see.
Was that Laura Foy from G4tv.com at the end? - JoVoCop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You can't post direct links to Rev3 in the story title. Try it yourself!
- BanditJing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Digg as an online social experiment has failed miserably. It has proved that user moderation does not work."
You got buried. Seems to be working just fine to me. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i would love to see this, but the large theora torrent is 404'd
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8From the way Kevin phrased what he said, I believe that the real time view of the timeline (where the Digg v3 story had tons of diggs - and not the circle one), will be released on Monday, but the "digg spy on crack" (the circle view with the connections), will be released in July.
- JoVoCop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Monday can't come soon enough!!"
Yea, but I have work on Monday! - FetalSage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The API is going to be great, can't wait for that. A few months *snif*
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4nevermind I found this (and was too late to edit) :)
http://digg.com/software/H.264_vs._XViD - ventro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, seems like a really obvious thing to call it. He used the word "Swarm" like a million times talking about it too, lol.
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't know about those data visualization tools..
"Digg Incoming" seems like a live version of Cloud View. If the current Cloud View was able to dynamically update the font size based on the story's relative popularity, you would have the same effect (plus you can see the names of the stories better, AND it would still look neat to see all of the stories "growing"). I dunno... maybe it's for people who like to watch their own submitted stories and now they don't have to obsessively hit the refresh button.
And "Digg Spy on Crack" just looks confusing to me. Would you really watch that for any reason other than to chuckle when you see a "fat digger" scurry around stories like a bumble bee polinating flowers? :)
Can someone tell me how usefull these new visualizations will be? Because I seem to be missing the point.
edit: I just remembered that one of the new data visualizations from a previous movie WAS a bunch of bumble bees polinating flowers :P - jhatcher16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I must say, Digg incoming and DSOC look amazing. Props to Kevin and all the Digg team for this.
- ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, it was the only way to get around it.
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Anyone else see this coming?
- Lorenzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2some digg users are chatting about that in the irc channel : http://digg.com/technology/Unofficial_Revision_3_IRC
- Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2heh, noticed that too..
Another nerdy thing to notice. Tina, from G4TV.com(the canceled show) was in the front filming on a canon prosumer miniDV cam...
Yeah, i know... I'm gonna die alone :p - baddmojoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nerdy thing to notice - Kevin and Alex's names were reversed on the graphic at the beginning of the show. Though I suppose they normally sit with Alex at stage right. Guess the art department took the week off.
(Video version only, heh) - kodek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And at the end, he said that both would be released in July :/
- ekai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Says: I AM NOT A GEEK!
underneath: I'm a level 12 Paladin.
http://www.burningtshirt.com/tshirts/geek/i-am-not-a-geek-im-a-level-12-paladin.php
I'm a dork for even responding to this. - DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the torrent links are not working yet.
Also can someone say which one should have the best quality and work with Mplayer (MPUI)? - interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anybody mind creating a torrent for the largest file?
- BigHungryJoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, you are wrong. Why do you think these new categories are been made? Because people want digg to be more then just a tech site. That's why so many stories pop up that aren't strictly tech related. That's why those stories get dugg and make it to the front page. That's why all your comments are getting buried. The people have spoken, and Kevin and the others at digg have listened.
- fr34k5h0w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The only problem I can see with the new topics is that with digg leaving the "all tech" and moving to other social categories is that our school's web filter might one day decide to block it. Right now they allow digg because it's all tech news all the time (supposedly :-) ). We'll see though...
- michaelschmitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone else been having trouble with incomplete downloads of Diggnation? I've downloaded episode 50 twice via iTunes, and each time it's been missing a huge portion of the show. The show stops on the last frame downloaded. Moving the slider farther along yields a white nothing. Cachefly related?
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Be placating, not playa hating.
- Sergio965, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4You just have to love the name for the new Digg Spy, "Digg Spy On Crack".
Great! - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Heh, I was looking at the url bar in the video, but it looks like they are on some type of VPN since it showed 192.168.244.11 during the demo of the 2 new digg tools. Although I know they are smart enough not to put it on some public place on the site.
- kindrobot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Digg Spy on crack looks kind of like "Digg Invaders".
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh btw it's a jinx ***** http://www.jinx.com/scripts/details.asp?affid=-1&productID=284
not some lamo knock off site......
(Sry too late for edit) - birch25, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3lol, i knew someone would say that!
- richmastaplus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you think about it. You don't have to wait until July to use Digg Spy on Crack. Fire it up!
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Only level 12!?
N00B!!! :7) - ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, link works again.
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fat digger on DSoC
http://www.digg.com/users/TheBenchWarmer
Looks like he was digging all of krose's stuff - FetalSage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe that is probably for on10:
http://www.on10.net/TheShow/ - compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it releasing Monday at 12 Midnight? Becuase it should (I can't wait another night)
- baddmojoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heh, Kevin really likes to say "Drill down"...
v3 looks great, though. Particularly "digg incoming"... let's hope it proves useful. - ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, sorry the url is dead; I'll try to fix that.
- shamanking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Missing torrent files....
- michaelschmitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2When Kevin got up to speak, he said something like: "I can't find a place for my beer."
Jay responded with: "This isn't Diggnation."
I thought that was funny. Then I realized I was watching episode 51 of "Diggnation" downloaded automatically via iTunes.
Jay, it WAS Diggnation. :) - darkestpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, I can't wait. Just got home to watch Diggnation now. :-)
