- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -3/+70no mention of the recent bugs i see...
- Branchex, on 05/13/2008, -8/+49He needs to tweak the color scheme.
- Cam_86, on 05/13/2008, -2/+39Did anyone actually read the time 100 article on him?
http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,2 ...
They corrected the fact that it was Kevin Rose who founded digg, not Adelson... which kinda negates EVERYTHING about him being a visionary... So why again is he on the list, and Kevin Rose is not?
The concept of Digg is amazing(Kevins part) but the handling of it(Adleson) has been pretty god awful ever since it really became popular. Just look how well it was gamed for Ron Paul in late '07/early '08. - XxpokemasterxX, on 05/13/2008, -1/+32yeah thats a sketchy looking blog
- piratearggghhh, on 05/13/2008, -2/+30Enjoy it while it lasts - before the next web trend hits.
- quomen, on 05/13/2008, -2/+29Am I the only one that's tired of the crap that we hear from the Digg crew. We've been teased an improved comment system for OVER a year. Our of Digg's two year lifespan. Someone tell me what tremendous progress Jay is talking about. When the website is fundamentally flawed adding "new features" is pointless. Also, the content has also degenerated into a social/political activist site. Good grief.
- MrTito, on 05/13/2008, -4/+28***** Sarah Lacy
If anyone needs a refresher - http://digg.com/tech_news/When_an_Interview_with_Z ... - Accolade1, on 05/13/2008, -2/+27Bugs. Blasphemy?
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -1/+21bugs? Blasphemy.
- wontstoptalking, on 05/13/2008, -2/+22Blasphemy? Bugs.
- zephyr42, on 05/13/2008, -4/+17^^ Fail.
- Acglaphotis, on 05/13/2008, -4/+19I like it as it is now. On a side note, i don't like Reddit's all white theme.
- derrickgossman, on 05/13/2008, -1/+15Who gives a damn about this turd of a story? I don't come to digg to read about digg.
- Dylson, on 05/13/2008, -6/+18You're a sketchy looking blog.
- Jambi, on 05/13/2008, -1/+13Well, that's debatable. Here's why; while Digg has now turned into a forum for idiots to scream their mind, it's getting a lot more hits than before, and eyeballs on the screen mean that ad revenue goes up.
PS: for good tech discussions, go to the Ars Technica forums - MtheoryX, on 05/13/2008, -0/+8What "theme" are you talking about?
Oh, you mean complete absence of any style at all. Yeah, I hate it too, but they get their news sooner. - VinceNoir, on 05/13/2008, -1/+9Oh no... give me Slashdot any day. Digg is a joke in terms of quality content. Popularity != quality.
- VinceNoir, on 05/13/2008, -1/+8A little more background for those of us who don't give a ***** about web 2.0 dweebs:
Sarah Lacy (I didn't know who the hell she was until I saw Mr Tito's post and took it upon myself to try and figure out who these no-names are) is some stupid chick who styles herself as a Silicon Valley insider/journalist. Most of us with real lives who really are into technology and not the "rock stars of the web" won't know and shouldn't care who she is. She's irrelevant.
Mark Zuckerberg seems to be yet another of the worthless and despicable scum who are really just business people masquerading as technologists. He's responsible for that social pariah: Facebook. There is doubt as to whether or not it was an original idea of his. No surprise since many of these business morons are usually just clever enough to market things but stupid enough to not actually code them. Instead they con their coding buddies into writing stuff for them and then take all the credit. (See Jobs/Wozniak)
This little truth capsule was brought to you by The Destructors of Web 2.0. - sarge96, on 05/13/2008, -5/+12Course not. The man's a salesman. It's all a bunch of BS, feel nice bluster.
- ajb2015, on 05/13/2008, -2/+9Also, no one invented a verb, they just added a "g" to it. The phrase "I dig it" existed long before digg.
- MrNonchalant, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Hate to agree. Watching the Digg Townhall I couldn't help coming away with a "My god that guy is a sniveling little weasel" feeling. Even Kevin seemed put off at times.
- n0odles, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5Kevin Ross, is the man behind the giant machine that Digg is. Sarah is a troll bitch, she shouldn't be allowed to speak without a large black penis in her mouth.
- Appleologist, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Adapt to survive.
- zephyr42, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5Hmmmm, maybe i should cut back on smoking so much... I completely forgot about this.
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7i feel really sorry for anyone who works at digg as a developer. no job security at all, could be sold out at any time. Taking a look at the major lack of a working comment system just wow..
- VinceNoir, on 05/13/2008, -4/+8I knew Digg sucked the minute I looked at it. I was pointed to it by fellow Slashdotters who were sick of the greasepit that it had turned into. I went over here and was amazed at how stupid Diggers were in general. No clue about computers other than spoonfed Windows crap and pre-fab technological solutions instead of home brew. So I went back to Slashdot expecting this tragic mutant zone to die. But... never underestimate the power of the idiot masses.
It grew and grew and grew. Then something interesting happened. All the idiots who were ruining Slashdot seemed to... disappear! Sure the story submissions on Slashdot dropped considerably as did the volume of comments. But... I noticed that the QUALITY increased. Not quite to 1997 standards but better than most of the late 90s and early 2000s. So Digg actually fixed a problem on Slashdot! Thanks! They took the morons away!
So Digg is regular reading for me if only to slap the idiots with a stick for pleasure. Slashdot is still my main source for interesting discussion. - DarkDx, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3But at least it's 10 times faster :)
- wrxpert, on 05/13/2008, -1/+4I am glad that I am not the only one to kinda think that Jay is a douche.
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2He's too busy day dreaming about this future Digg that will be all things to all people.
- mrynit, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I think Branchex was talking about Jay's blog color scheme not Digg's.
- 11oops, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2-4. Go die.
- chris9902, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2You're in the wrong place then. This site has been on the decline for months now.
fun fact: Digg started as a technology news site. - eq2s, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1forgot to copy the 2 I'm sorry.
- eq2s, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3That's a terrible looking blog for someone that is the CEO of a website that gets 6 million unique visitors a month.
- CyberSteve, on 05/13/2008, -0/+226 million
- mehan, on 05/13/2008, -6/+7C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2"With each day, as more features are added, and as more people use Digg, Digg becomes more valuable as a way to discover and share content from anywhere on the Web"
I disagree. - sgtpppr, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2It's called the 'illusion of security'. I don't care where you work, you're never 100% secure in your job.
- MtheoryX, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Can ya' dig it?
- VinceNoir, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Just a question for you... is Ars Technica good for all tech discussions (non-Windows) or is it an MS only zone?
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Digg enabled me to endure the eyestrain induced by that blog's color scheme! Mwhahaha! I am now moderately unstoppable!
- princeofhb, on 05/13/2008, -3/+4You know... what I love most about this web 2.0 world and the entrepreneurial wave driving it is that it's so honest. The people behind the technology and companies really believe in what they do. They put their spirit into it and they don't let success change them.
I think this is one of the reasons their so successful in this community driven world too. I see Kevin and Alex every week on Diggnation. They are always themselves. It's what I appreciate.
Thank you Jay and the Digg team. Thank you Kevin, Alex and the Revision 3 gang. Your community appreciates what you do. - Sambora, on 05/13/2008, -2/+4Job security is a figment of your imagination.
Whatever job you have, let it ride or find something better and ride that wave. - vikki77, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2"Your blog makes my eyes hurt."
Love it! - vodkataime, on 05/13/2008, -4/+4FaceTubeSpacePedia?
- teesix, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2ZOMG! You're not getting your money's worth!! .... Oh wait....
- pheliak, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3You seriously do not know how startups work if you think being "sold out" is a bad thing for developers.
- MtheoryX, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1You couldn't find anything? Nothing at all? Not even an interesting wikipedia link? Worthless digger.
- joel8x, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Jay is speaking? Get out your pillows and blankies for this snooze-fest.
- kristianfreeman, on 05/13/2008, -2/+2To survive adapt.
