Digg buttons added to the BBC website
blogstorm.co.uk — BBC has added the digg buttons to their websites. this means that digg will send more trffic to them now
- 1685 diggs
- digg it
- truck87bp, on 10/10/2007, -66/+5The BBC sucks for viewing video clips supplied buy the BBC. Can't view videos, must use Windoz. It used to be one of my favorite web sites. I think Firefox for Linux should remove "Latest News" from the Tab Bar when Firefox installs. Hell, you can watch video at MSN using Linux and Firefox, why not the BBC. BBC, get your act together. Bloody Sod Pots....
Truck87, USA- Lyanto, on 10/10/2007, -4/+47I'm sorry but I don't understand, why do people feel the need to sign their posts?
- mdhauke, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8or more likely, BBC will send more traffic diggs way.
- honeymustardn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What does that have to do with signing posts?
- potp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2"this means that digg will send more trffic to them now"
- mdhauke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1honeymustardn: "What does that have to do with signing posts?"
Nothing, but it has everything to do with disrespecting digg's ***** comment system. If you got a problem with that, ***** off
- honeymustardn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What does that have to do with signing posts?

- Mejogid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Hey, that's funny, because I have Ubuntu, Gentoo and Fedora installs, all of which play them fine with the right codecs installed. And since you're in the US, it's not as if the BBC's obligated to deliver you ad-free videos and content.
- allywilson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Here, here! The BBC is paid for by the British TV Licenesing public afterall.
- Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16You'd be blocked from using it anyway, because you're not located in Britain. You can't complain about a service that you're not intended to be able to use not being available on your OS. British people pay for that content; this is our business and as the person above me said, the BBC isn't obligated to provide you with anything.
- bieber, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1So, the whole of Britain only uses Windows? I never realized this...
- spoonmaniac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm using slackware and regularly watch the BBC's videos without any problem. Perhaps if you are having trouble getting your video to work in Linux you would benefit more from asking questions on a Linux newbie website instead of bitching that the BBC only supports windows.
Anyway, If you hadn't noticed, the BBC has a few more items on their website besides videos which may interest you. That is assuming you are able to get your browser to function in Linux.

- Nobiting, on 10/10/2007, -42/+6How is this news?
- Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30Am I the only one sick of people constantly repeating this on pretty much every submission?
- rcomegys, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm with you, but you gotta keep in mind that some people are just dense, and they have their ideas on how digg should be administered. Unfortunately for them, they have none of the good sense that makes Kevin Rose a geek superstar.
- GMorgan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3How is that news?
- Ploosheeta, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How is it news that it's not news?...that it's not news?
- rcomegys, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm with you, but you gotta keep in mind that some people are just dense, and they have their ideas on how digg should be administered. Unfortunately for them, they have none of the good sense that makes Kevin Rose a geek superstar.
- Namco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10How is this a comment?
- psilanthropist, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3nobiting's point is even more relevant coz the BBC 606 site has had digg, del.icio.us and a few other buttons for over a year now. all they did was extend it to the rest of the site. this is not news
- Azimuth1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30Am I the only one sick of people constantly repeating this on pretty much every submission?
- Caiman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Does anyone making comments on digg articles actually go and check out what they're commenting on? They added a range of social bookmarking links, why? Who knows or cares, they probably want to spread their content even wider and further and what, we're actually complaining if a site drives trraffic to digg and not vice versa now? Geez
- shreveyboy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Thank god someone said something of reason.
- reggplant, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Exactly! They've been there for over a week and I bookmarked a story with the delicious link, its nothing to really get excited about since these buttons appear on many sites on the internet :/
p.s. Wheres the digg category? :P
- corevette, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7example story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/6974083.stm
- wjackson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Dugg for description.
- balldee93, on 10/10/2007, -10/+5trffic? someone please use the stupid spellcheck.
- lkmbrd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+40That's trffic!
- FDL1, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3Terrific.
- wmarkusen, on 10/10/2007, -13/+6Wow, DIGG is getting really lame.
- robmcm, on 10/10/2007, -31/+2Truck87 The reason is that the BBC gets real player and windows media stuff free because they are a government organization or something. To use Flash they would have to pay, although they have started to experiment. http://www.pixelbox.net/2007/06/08/bbc-trial-flash-for-video-content/
- neiltc13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19I'm not even going to explain how many inaccuracies you spread in that single comment, I'm just going to press the little red button above it.
- gritta, on 10/10/2007, -9/+15This happened about 2 weeks ago idiot.
- solonGFX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+28"Social bookmarking officially went mainstream in the UK yesterday"
It did? Officially? And to think I spent yesterday doing jack all when I could have been watching social bookmarking officially go mainstream. - praetorianpi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43trffic is the web 2.0 name for traffic.
- jubba, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23They did this a couple of weeks ago. Why is it news now?
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Because it was submitted now.
If you knew about it a couple of weeks ago, then you should have submitted it.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Because it was submitted now.
- leckie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8This happened a month to a month and a half agoo, i'm not one for saying this but this is unneeded blog spam.
- Adrianc333, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Old article.
- mhender, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5"BBC has added the digg buttons to their websites. this means that digg will send more trffic to them now"
Pulitzer prize winning journalist uzair21 on the case. - Webjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1Who still uses Windows 98? Seriously? This is pretty lame even for linux fanboys. Hey everyone, more people drive a Prius than a horse! We're winning! :D
- ZigVicious, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11wrong article.
- loratwopointone, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Buried as it's old news. The Digg etc. buttons have been there for a while now
- Hybride, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Considering that they are one of the most popular and most respected websites in the world, I'm sure they didn't add Digg buttons to get "more traffic". Anyway, I've seen these for some time now.
- allenu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4This is trffic! Great job guys.
- The1DB, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2This is just old, they've been there for ages. I can't see it likely that the BBC will get more traffic from this, nor that this'll give more traffic to those sites...
BBC isn't much good at latest news anyway - secretivecoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Buried as blog spam.
- AvengeX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3OOOOOLLLLDDDDD NEEEEWWWWSSS.
- Ploosheeta, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Well that's just "trffic"!
- GruntGrunt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The beeb is epic win.
- MBHoy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1This is damn old news.
- rockmyway, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1this happened around a month back... too late for a digg!
- Rubab, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Interesting to know
- Ploosheeta, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It is?
- dn2004, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1The BBC would drive more traffic to Digg not Digg drive more traffic to BBC... Sheesh, isn't the BBC website one of the most used websites on the planet.
They added these a few weeks ago too, and Sky News website has had the same thing on their site for months. - bobdinkel, on 10/10/2007, -4/+0The BBC certainly isn't the first mainstream news source to do this. The Christian Science Monitor has had Digg links for at least 9 months. Admittedly, the BBC is much more well known than the Christian Science Monitor.
- petepete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The Christian Science Monitor is not a real news source.
- aminom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Seriously, do you know what you are talking about? The SCM is highly respected by many people regardless of political or religious orientation. It is one of the few real news sources out there that have not been corrupted with political and/or corporate bias.
- bobdinkel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I know the name of the publication is off-putting, but it's a pulitzer prize winning publication and its content is widely syndicated. Despite the name, it is a real and well-respected news source. Have you ever even read the Christian Science Monitor?
- petepete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The Christian Science Monitor is not a real news source.
- NoNameNoNumber, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0This has been implemented for over a month now. I'm starting to think that some (heading towards most) digg users are retarded.
- omgsrsly, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0Of course there's digg buttons on the BBC. The only people who comment on Digg are fat ass liberal jackoffs - the same people who create and patronize the BBC.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sorry, but in this country we're Conservatives or Labour.
Jackass.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sorry, but in this country we're Conservatives or Labour.
- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1The BBC was criticised recently for being biased (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/06/17/nbbc217.xml). I'm not surprised. They championed the Live Earth concerts giving 15 hours of coverage to a political message when they should be unbiased. They are politically correct beyond belief. They are like the uncool kid in the class always about 6 months behind the latest memes and fashions - only for the hopeless kid to "get it" when it's all out of fashion. This is the BBC, and because they are like this, Digg thinks the BBC is cool (from an ex-pat Brit).
- nancarrow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is a typical replay from a right wing ignorant fascist ex-pat.
- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I must be a "right wing ignorant fascist ex-pat" to criticise the BBC? OK, so be it in your tiny polarised mind. I'm not though.
- nancarrow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Tiny Polarized Mind - describes you perfectly, being the ring wing ignorant fascist that you are.
- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I must be a "right wing ignorant fascist ex-pat" to criticise the BBC? OK, so be it in your tiny polarised mind. I'm not though.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Not that the British press are ever biased.
I'll take the Beeb over the Telegraph any day of the week.- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The British press have been known to be biased. The BBC have been known to be biased. Your point is?
- gfnw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Whooshing over your head by the looks of it.
- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The British press have been known to be biased. The BBC have been known to be biased. Your point is?
- nancarrow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is a typical replay from a right wing ignorant fascist ex-pat.
- danarama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3i thought it said "Big" buttons added...that would be cool.
- mcsloy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1You trust the BBC , LOL get real will you they are part of the gobal web of lies
- 6oldbug, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1DESCRIPTION - Be Descriptive: You're the story's editor, so explain what it is and why it's cool. BBC-Now gives all of Digg option as a descriptive option that may highlight points that their own editors only have the choice in "one"... and thats just all "one person" can post it...
- samurimaster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The revolution continues
- icewater, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0You mean there are other countries out there other than the US? Can you find the US on a map? Can you find any other stories that don't involve the US? Hmm...do you care?
- svivian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21. Who uses Digg for bookmarking things?
2. Regarding advertising: actually the BBC does show adverts now, to anyone OUTSIDE the UK. So it's probably in their interests to up their global traffic a little. - Ascendancy5, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Big news in the UK: A new technology known as "Web 2.0". Amazing!
- syxle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1***** the BBC.
- richardiscool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/tech_news/BBC_goes_Web_2_0_You_can_now_Digg_a_BBC_News_article_directly - ages ago.
- reed311, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Great it will bring more Brits here who complain about the dominance of American content at Digg. (As if Digg was based in the UK or something)
- GreedKills, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2here comes the spam, they only do this for revenue you konw, they get more ads shown
- pankaj010203, on 10/24/2007, -0/+0This is an old story, what do you all guys think.........
http://www.greymatterindia.com/ - natty023, on 10/24/2007, -0/+0keep on digging bbc.
