First off, some people are douchebags. Any type of response you give would only keep them going. I'm sorry for your loss, Fudged, but I cannot help but be annoyed at where this is going...
Now, a few points from the M724:
1-Everybody finds something offensive online. Sooner or later you'll see a Digg article or a blog post that hits you where it hurts. There are established ways to deal with it, one of which is to ignore it and another is to leave the website you found it in. I'm not saying you should leave Digg, I'm just bringing up a couple of options.
2-If you ignore the post, it might be forgotten eventually. Going this far to fight back will only draw more people in, not all of which agree with you. In the long run things can get too complicated with far too many people with different agendas.
3-This is NOT a war, Fudged. If anything is going to go down, it's probably your reputation. You're not impressing anyone with your current behavior. There is nobody to "defeat," and all this will lead to a very annoying flame war. You're being just as bad as the people you're trying to fight (and a bit emo.)

I lost a lot of friends in Iraq and Afghanistan, that doesn't mean I flame people on Digg because of it... In the U.S. we have something called freedom of speech, and that gives us all the right to be douche nozzles from time to time. Most of the best comedians said things that skirted the border of offensive. Many ran way over that border, if you are offended by something, ignore it, bury it, let that individual know.
