- renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -7/+313for about a year now digg has been set up for lower traffic than it gets, these changes are brilliant. I Love the "Top in 24 hours" because I live in Australia so the "Top Today" always used to reset in the late afternoon. Great new design.
Good stuff guys. - radicaldementia, on 10/12/2007, -6/+201sweet it finally takes up the whole screen. Also I like separating videos from news. Nice job digg team.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -3/+177Still no highlighting of your own comments. :( How hard could it be for them to add that feature in there?!

great new look - sTiVo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+149Holy crap. Where did that come from?
- DharmaTurtle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+81Friggin awesome way to login.
Who else thought they typed in the wrong site? - Wilcox, on 10/12/2007, -8/+79I love the new navigation bar up top! Congrats to Kevin and the digg team!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+73The #1 problem with Digg is the inability to reply-to-a-reply.
A Digg-Up for me is a Digg-Up for a sane, readable forum. - Napalm05, on 10/12/2007, -5/+73Thank you for wide screen monitor support!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+85... and now the comments are too wide on the page to be able to read easily. Thanks, Kevin.
- Laurentvw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+57Neat! I love the video integration and the new Podcast section.
...Eat this Netscape! - lib24, on 10/12/2007, -10/+56ok, I love it... but I can't find the option to go back to the old style, where is it?
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -14/+55Very nice, Mr. Rose!
Load faster too! - IEatHamburgers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41I think it's sweet-looking but the comments are waaaaay too wide for my 1280x800 screen.
- 2L84ME, on 10/12/2007, -8/+48Now all we need is a Greasemonkey script to get rid of the white space on the right.
- dougm68, on 10/12/2007, -7/+43Don't eat my balls netscape please.
You can lickum but eating is definitely out. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34The #1 problem with Digg is the inability to reply-to-a-reply. Infinitley nested comments, see Slashdot.com for an example.
A Digg-Up for me is a Digg-Up for a sane, readable forum. - oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30what does everyone think of the videos being sequestered to their own page?
the only reason i'm iffy about it is now you essentially have 2 front pages. i'm not sure that i care enough to check the "top videos" but if a video was able to jump to the frontpage passing all other topics then i know it's good and almost always check it out. any thoughts?
i do really digg the ability to play the videos within the digg frame. - wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31This isn't wide screen monitor support. In fact, this fluid layout makes me wish I had a small 4:3. Why? Because my eyes have to run all the way down my damn screen just to read something. The optimal line of text is around 10 to 12 words long.
Widescreen support would be something like another column that would appear if one had a wide display. This is counter productive. - NinjaJedi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32Woah! The new look made me jump after I hit F5!! Kinda got lost there for a second!
Loving the new look though. - ZaNkY, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27What happened to the befriended option? Why can't we see who friended us anymore..... I liked that option... it feels like we've gone a step back :(
- bluephoenix, on 10/12/2007, -7/+31still no windows category.....arg
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29I like the new layout a lot. A couple things though:
-You can still "cheat" and digging comments. If you click the green thumb fast enough you'll add 2-3 diggs to it.
-You don't have highlighting of your own comments, which makes it hard to keep track of where you commented in a digg thread
-Comments are only 2 levels deep, I think now that there is so much extra room on the left and right, there really should now be 3 and maybe 4 levels so you can reply to a reply of a reply.
-Personally I'd like to see a separation between thumbs down and a bad/delete-worthy comment. Just so a minority opinion isn't treated the same way as blatant spam. And when something is flagged as spam, it'll get buried out of view, but comments you just don't agree with aren't buried, but instead maybe just list a count of how many people didnt' like it
-No Digg API just yet for us developers =
But great work Digg staff! Much props! - energyblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I really don't like the look.
I think its messy and everything is massive, text, digg logo, etc.
I will get use to it but it puts me off for now. - grafenberg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28I think it's rather a little blah meself. the colors are not very nice (blue and green are difficult to put together anyhow). The old header was much nicer as it was very lightweight, and small. Daringly so, IMO. there are some fundamental problems with digg which need to be addressed like the simple fact that it's impossible to hold a conversation on digg because of a crippled user comment system. fix those things and bring back the daring little header. :-)
- ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Top-side navigation has always been a favorite of mine, and now digg is doing it. Along with the ability to view certain videos and listen to some podcasts within digg, as well as the flexible layout for those of us with high-resolution displays (4:3 or 16:9) are awesome.
Only thing I didn't like was I didn't have anything to do for about the first 1.5 hours of my shift this morning. ^_^ /
Great job guys, and keep up the good work. - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20I gotta be honest when I typed in the URL and hit enter I almost immediately said "ew what happened?"out loud. Some options may be nice and just take getting used to, but that green is just awful and the big text along the top just looks weird..
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21@HaxityHaxHaxed: Videos under separate section = "teh" awesome, because there should be less people like you in the news section.
- emehrkay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21i wonder if they fixed the multiple green thumb bug, where you're allowed to digg a comment multiple times if you click really really fast?

*click* - sunnyboy06, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21I don't like the new design. I'll have to get used to it but if they would consider giving us a choice, I wouldn't say no. New features are nice though.
- t1m1, on 10/12/2007, -11/+28I have to agree partly with you. Placing the navigation bar at the top is a huge step backwards in my opinion...
Plus I don't like the green-blue mixture at all.
But propably it's just me... - laserob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Looks great, but I agree, comment lines too long.
- LoungeActx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19I'm not sure how I like the new design. I feel like it's almost too cluttered. I like the ideas behind the new design, but I'm feeling a little information overload. I liked how the old one kind of steered me in the right direction, and showed me what I needed to know, versus slapping me in the face with all of this information at once.
- Beaver6813, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19@lib24
I was looking for that option earlier as well... i don't want to sound ungrateful but i preferred it as it was before, well it looked good on my monitor :P I don't care about everyone else's ^^ - LabThug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Yeah, but what happened to the "Friends that have befriended me" link?
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I like the switch from the "posted" time to "made popular" on the home page, but could you tone done the color a bit? The bold red text tends to overpower everything else and the information isn't *that* critical.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17This look is wierd at 1280x1024. Too much blank-space in the short comments and the longer comments are longer.
Is there anyway to make it permanently 1024x768 while in comments so these issues arent there? I cant imagine the problems at higher resolutions!
and, editing comments si VERY buggy. Selecting to edit a comment refreshes the page, and clicking Update refreshes again. - Jacob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Yeah I hate the stretching. I have a 1920x1200 screen and it makes it a pain to read stuff now. Plus the navigation on top is annoying, I have plenty of screen real estate unused on the sides whereas on the top It would be more useful to have content.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I know *I* want digg 1.0 back.
Then again, I could just turn off stylesheets... - lane.montgomery, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Just resize your browser window. It is a fluid layout so now you can use that extra monitor space for something like work...never mind.
- LabThug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Yes, "BRING IT BACK" When do we want it "NOW"!!!!
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14@foolfromhell
it appears to have a maximum width of 1200px.. so on my 1600px, i see quite a bit of whitespace. just for kicks, i stretched the browser to its maximum width, across 3 monitors... what, kevin? no love for you 4800px users?? :P
on a more serious note.. i agree that the short comments are little awkward, and the long comments are more difficult to read. - BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12You can't cheat, that's a common misconception. When you reload the thread you will only have had one vote counted. The database isn't fooled, just the java.
- atlacatl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Looks cool, but way too much information.
Did anyone think of this?
If I a navigate to digg/technology, there are 28 options (yes 28 options) I can choose from in the main tool bar alone--the one with the search engine, et al. And I can do 35 different things before actually reading any new submissions. This is clearly as step backwards in usability. If it were up to me (and it is not), I would send this back to the drawing board. Nice try, but whoever designed this should try again. And before digging down, think of usability first--well, digg down if you can find the digg down icon ;)
BTW, there is no hate from my part, I truly think the version before was much better... - burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Exactly. That was the one thing I REALLY hoped they would put in this version, but still no.
Can we at LEAST have 3 levels of depth? - freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Befriended is still there. Just looks like it's not linked yet, for some reason. Try this:
http://digg.com/users/ZaNkY/friends/befriended - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -3/+13i think they filed that under the "old news" category
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'm not really sure I like all of the changes, to be honest.
First off, comments are way too wide, and I don't know how much I like the top navigation bar. I suppose I'll get used to these things, though.
But..........the Video and Podcast sections are simply amazing. Digg is creating a new TechTV, kinda, with the Podcasts section. All our old friends from the network (plus some new ones) are here. And not having to link out to YouTube is going to be great - tuartboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yeah, the column width makes the comments harder to read. Good typography practice says that columns should be around 7 words wide for best readability. Of course that's a bit too narrow for digg, but it's something to keep in mind.
