- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -5/+89You need to unclog the tubes.
- Ottergoose, on 10/12/2007, -5/+79It's not just a truck you can dump something on.
- M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -2/+45GuyHitByTruck: You need to blast lottery balls down the tubes...
- rhfb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+48My poor poor senator should just retire now :( Almost feel bad for him and his pipes
- kacymartin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+43"Here is a picture of a dump-truck. With a few exceptions you cannot masturbate to it. Therefore, it is not the Internet."
-Daily Show - super_spyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40tubes not pipes, dont be stupid. How could anyone expect the internet to run on pipes pffft....
- lordpepito, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32I think we might need to call the internet plumber to unclog the tubes if digg gets too big in the future
- pilot3033, on 10/12/2007, -5/+34I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but it's been ingrained into Internet culture forever. It's the epitome of the last generation having a complete lack of understanding of new technology.
Get used to it :) - raven4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24or liberal amounts of Fiber
- ohnnyj, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26No need, all we need is a lottery ball.
- stephen2417, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24@noeljohnhoward
I got it today.... why?! - defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22People will hate me for breaking the 'inside joke,' if you will, but here is a reference for people like me who don't watch TV much:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhOtlQ8-mcU&mode=related&search=Ted%20Stevens - BooooooooB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I got that error message earlier, made me smile.
i like the little haikus for the help/explanations too. - bullethead, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11His analogy was perfectly fine. In reality this is how a techie may convey the basic workings of a network (Tubes, pipes etc). But it wasn't the analogy that is really being attacked. It’s really his delivery being attacked. Since it is quite clear that he has no real comprehension or understanding of the very basic workings of the internet.
Made especially obvious by his ‘my staff sent me an internet..’ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9you dont have to try so hard to defend blatant stupidity. remember, this came from a guy who supports a bazillion dollar bridge to nowhere and calls himself fiscally conservative.
- phej, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Screenshot of the message in case some of you aren't getting it:
http://flickr.com/photos/phej/198402990/ - G33k0ft3chz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Well thank god for Kevin Roses Dump Truck or our Pipes would be filled to the max!
- JethroSquid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Just after "the tubes" message, there is this line:
this.pauseRate = 5 * 60000;
5 * 60,000 milliseconds?
I assume this means that if you leave 'Stack' or 'Swarm' running for 5 mins, it will stop updating and display the message? - affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7the senator needs to get his tubes tied
- HHP2K, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Oh god this sarcasm cracks me up XD who ever knew that a senator of all people could produce such hilarity.
- taylorhayward, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Thank god the dump truck just arrived with this sweet article. My pipes have been clogged with poker chips for days!
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I swear Digg is like one of the most addictive and important sites on the web these days.
It goes Google, Wikipedia and Digg the trinity of the internet.
Digg has turned citizens into reporters. I wonder if any diggers have received jobs based on their digg credentials. - mopper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7http://www.duggmirror.com/tech_news/Digg_Stack_and_Swarm_Hidden_Message/

- pabster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"Digg has turned citizens into reporters. I wonder if any diggers have received jobs based on their digg credentials."
I sure the ***** hope NOT. The top submitters here would make absolutely ***** horrible "journalists". - skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The message is not very hidden at all, I just got that message after leaving the window in the background for a while.
- gilsmethod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4love it
- poopmpants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3cool, but not a hidden message... inevitable message in my case, damn thing is fun to watch
- xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Woah, that's definitely the best feature!
Don't get me wrong. Digg is amazing, but sometimes people get way too excited over nothing. - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3All Digg needs now is something very similar to Cnet's "The Big Picture" which is heavily needed in today's world.......especially for tech news
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ever hear of Jason Calacanis?
- noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ stephen
cuz its funny as hell
:)
makes me happy you noticed - CannibalTom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does that mean the internet is like yogurt?
- punkrockxtian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wonder where you could buy some internet drano for that.
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -9/+9You can pick up some pipe cleaners at your local crafts store, I'm sure.
- sophiaperennis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The Internet is going down the Tubes!
- TortfeasorG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1you can get a firefox extension (i forget what it's called, but i have it on mine - it might even be an option in the default preferences) that allows you to choose to force pages that open in new windows, to instead open in new tabs. that should help.
- darkseed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2urls called from the flash:
http://services.digg.com/stories/diggs?count=60
http://services.digg.com/stories/482294,486934,486550,483633?sort=submit%5Fdate%2Ddesc - Virak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The "top few Digg posters" aren't real people; they're advanced, experimental AIs. The only reason you haven't seen them in general use so far is that eventually even the biggest fanboys will get tired of nothing but Apple and Google.
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1cute little message, but I dugg this for the mention of the release of digg labs...holy crap this is sweet!
- DJgreenLava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Those little Azureus frogs hop along in those tubes pretty quickly.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I noticed it this afternoon when I was running it, it made me laugh a little, that is all
- seremiahb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1very nice find!
- mrchin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Swarm is quite interesting. Though more concentration required to see stories. It is amazing how you can see when users start "Swarming" towards a story.
My only concern is the linking to the articles. If I select a story to bring it to a larger view with diggs and brief info, I am stuck in my options. Since it is Flash it forces you to only be able to click on the story or comments. This opens a new browser window. Kinda sucks. I want clutter free, and my Safari as well as Firefox don't get their use as I want it with this. I wanna be able to right click to open in a new tab myself.
Hope you guys can change this. Thanks. - alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Darnit! You beat me to it. :(
Well... http://static.flickr.com/76/198447635_2065cdb743_o.png - bahaal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2This is excellent! Digging the Digg :-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8Sometimes I wonder what the hell the top few Digg posters do all day. Who in the world would spend time on this crap and, more importantly, who has the time?
