- verge, on 01/24/2008, -5/+115Thanks for the update, Mr. Rose. You wrote "As always, we welcome your thoughts and feedback." In what way do you suggest digg users may have a dialog with digg staff?
- DigiDave, on 01/24/2008, -14/+92Wouldn't it be funny if this was the first ever post of Kevin's NOT to hit the front page? That would be democracy in action.
- NewsFeed, on 01/24/2008, -32/+97Buried as LAME
- AmazingAndrex, on 01/24/2008, -2/+66This is the first time I've seen one of Kevin's comments dugg down...
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -8/+72Perhaps let us know before you make changes?
Perhaps ask our input?
Perhaps give us a platform to deal with bannings ourself?
Why do you auto bury stories that talk about bannings of users?
Can you discuss that for us so we know what's up?
Why did Polymath22 get banned, or emobrat? They were excellent submitters.
Can you at least address our questions?! - omdseo, on 01/24/2008, -15/+77You dont reply to emails anymore. Support@ used to reply to emails and for atleast a month we get not a word. People are banned, sites are banned, people have bugs. We all email and get nothing in response.
Information is everything and when you keep it all bottled up it will explode on you. Respond to emails and talk to your people damnit. AND NOT WHEN WE HAVE TO FRICKING REVOLT TO GET IT>>>>
Why do we always have to go to extremes to get your attention. - gameforge, on 01/24/2008, -2/+54LOL. Your English is WELL past what's acceptable here.
- gameforge, on 01/24/2008, -3/+53Time for some more bug fixes now? I've had more expired sessions in the last week than ever before - that never used to happen. I don't understand the purpose of expiring a session after an hour or two... isn't it at least a day on most sites?
I tried sending a bug complaint, but haven't gotten a response yet. - kevinrose, on 01/24/2008, -17/+66I got that recently, we'll look into it. Thanks!
- Kronos6948, on 01/24/2008, -5/+50I know I'm gonna get buried for this, but do you realize how much email he'd have to read? Granted, there's things that people aren't happy about with Digg, but reading emails would be a full time job, especially sifting through emails that are just for the lulz.
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -3/+38How many diggs does Kevin need? if it's 200 for us, it should be a thousand for him right?
- Burento, on 01/24/2008, -2/+36Ummm... how do you get 14 buries and 29 diggs and stay in upcoming.. ?
http://www.ajaxonomy.com/buryrecorder/index.php?ad ... - inactive, on 01/24/2008, -15/+44Why is everyone freaking out over this? I have like 50+ blind diggs on pretty much all the stories. I don't think it's fair for newbies to compete with me. The biggest issue here is that top users do provide quality content, we don't spam random crap that doesn't belong on homepage.
- Hixz, on 01/24/2008, -3/+32comments are like the cesspool of digg. if you want suggestions and input read our emails :)
- SilentJay74, on 01/24/2008, -9/+35Hey he has to polish his $300 million website guys. Can't let potential buyers see what Digg is really like! Advertisers might pull out!
- cafefort, on 01/24/2008, -12/+36Listen dear Kevin: You WON'T BE ABLE using an algorithm -as smart it could be- to decide of the content's quality. You can NOT do that. Period. What you're claiming is that diversifying things make content more "accurate"? This is Lame!
P.S. Dear readers, English is my 4th language, so sorry if I made mistakes, I promise I'm learning :) - MavRevMatt, on 01/24/2008, -2/+25Woah, the bury blocker on kevins' posts seems to be gone. FTW.
Really though, reading comments isn't all we want, if we email about something we _want_ a reply, generally speaking. Not saying anything just makes you look like a corporate bastard. - Burento, on 01/24/2008, -6/+29Bah.. Just like Kevin's 101% success rate.. it is rigged so he cannot be buried..
- 89vision, on 01/24/2008, -0/+22You should be thanking Kevin for all the free entertainment you get.
- photopreneur, on 01/24/2008, -3/+25@kevinrose you also have secretly banned urls doing what WE call auto-bury. Either BLOCK the url or let it fly.
- allaboutdatiki, on 01/24/2008, -6/+28Lets throw a whole lot of poop at the side of the barn and see what sticks ... now *that's* a random algorithm.
- canewediggit, on 01/24/2008, -1/+21don't really care, the front page is not the best of digg. but good on you guys.
personally- i'd like to see the speed picked back up to where it was and me not having an empty page whenever i check my profile, history, friend's activity (especially dugg in upcoming, that has not worked once for me since you switched profile looks), etc. just make it run fast and smooth and correct. - notque, on 01/24/2008, -3/+23Wouldn't it be great if we could participate in bannings? Look at the evidence, and vote ourselves and have an impact on the process?
- fkr3, on 01/24/2008, -2/+21I can see it now.... 6000 variations a day of
Dear kevin....
I watched you again last night. You were wearing that shirt I like. Did you think of me?
<3 [one of the ***** weirdos on this site] - MavRevMatt, on 01/24/2008, -1/+20Because kevinrose submitted it.
- MavRevMatt, on 01/24/2008, -2/+20You sure beat most the people commenting...
- photopreneur, on 01/24/2008, -4/+21is it possible that this NOT make the fp?
- cafefort, on 01/24/2008, -3/+18Hey! Thank you guys! :) It's really moving to hear such kind words! :)
- HolyCrapYo, on 01/24/2008, -3/+17Is this why nothing Ron Paul will even make the top in Upcoming? Not diverse enough?
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -3/+17Thanks for the blog post, next time perhaps indicate the changes before you do them so we are aware of what's coming?
- sfrench, on 01/24/2008, -4/+17"random algorithm" is a oxymoron. Plus poop on a barn would be affected by altitude, wind speed, surface tension, meal contents... so there are a lot of variables there.
- spin-docta, on 01/24/2008, -1/+14Maybe the algorithm changes make it impossible for him not to make the frontpage?
- DigiDave, on 01/24/2008, -4/+17Correction. I see he has had three stories not go the front page. I think the point still stands - He can pwn the front page anytime.
- bxblox, on 01/24/2008, -3/+16Kevin, your enthusiasm gives me the impression you are a robot.
- Awspire, on 01/24/2008, -0/+12As of late, I've been seeing a lot of submissions about virgins and guys who cant get laid on the front. Makes me wonder about the diversity of Digg users...
- joestump, on 01/24/2008, -3/+15I think your English is perfectly fine. I'm learning Spanish as my second language right now so I feel your pain.
- 97thfloor, on 01/24/2008, -4/+16I thought Digg was a democratic News Source designed to promote quality content, not a site designed to promote every user.
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -1/+12It's been building, it isn't the one issue. I get to the front page enough, but the content I submit doesn't. I would much rather others get to the front page more, and I'll do a better job shouting them up instead of submitting myself, but I'm very concerned that the style of content won't make it.
Digg is awesome because it isn't just the mainstream media. First day of the algorithm, it looked a whole lot more like mainstream media than it does usually. - SilentJay74, on 01/24/2008, -5/+15Yeah it is possible BURY THIS SUBMISSION!!!
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -5/+15Is there anyway you could change the algorithm to get more Scientology threads up to the front page? I don't think there have been enough lately. Thanks!
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+10How about putting a system in place so that we don't see dulicates like (fictional URL): digg.com/tech_news/Digg_New_Algorithm_Changes_5 get to the front while the original story stays unheard of?
- mrASSMAN, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9The reason doesn't really matter, it's just another bug that should be fixed. I had none of these problems with the old-school system.. maybe some of their new employees are slacking.
- mrASSMAN, on 01/24/2008, -2/+11Oh man, I've been having so many errors dealing with the comment system the past month or two. Expired sessions, comments becoming magically double-spaced (requires edit to fix), URLs getting cut off due to editing (ex:"http://digg.com/tech_news/Dig ..."), browser freezing when attempting to digg a comment, comments disappearing altogether, infamous "oh nos i broked ur commentz", and endless others.
How about this weird-as-hell error I received recently? (screenshot)
http://upload69.net/uploaded/images/2008/01/08/Upl ... - galleryfront, on 01/24/2008, -3/+12Does this mean that Ron Paul, AAPL, (etc., etc.) dugg by the same groups of people will begin to not hit the front pages? Or is this all just a cover-up story and true algorithm is simply a censorship tool, making sure certain TYPES of stories don't hit the front page.
I.E.: http://i32.tinypic.com/6xzsjt.jpg - gameforge, on 01/24/2008, -4/+13Thank you. :)
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -2/+11So quality content from particular users is punished?
- notque, on 01/24/2008, -1/+9I'd think that should be the highest priority. Pages rarely load. It's not, this page fails occasionally. It's, this page loads occasionally.
- jakv5, on 01/24/2008, -5/+13"gets the *diversity* it needs" SWEET!!!
Sorry but I'm all for this one guys. - GregZor, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7Two words to fix this entire problem: Forced anonymous.
- Devotia, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7What'd be really interesting (and rather pipe-dreamish) would be to have two "diggs" temporarily. Same users and stories and such, but with one page processing the stories through the original algorithm and one processing through the new. Let it run for a bit, watching the usage statistics, and let the users decide which is more popular.

What is Digg?
