- drewhenson, on 10/12/2007, -7/+118BigSpy just isn't as good as Stack or Swarm, its just a little too rapid, and the stories are too large. I like the concept though.
- halbe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+74Looks like big spy would be perfect for a big ass plasma or LCD.
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55Make sure to try out the new 'Stack'. Hover over the story titles to pause the flow and queue up stories. It's a pretty cool effect when you have 50 or so queued up that drop at once.

Try this view out:
http://labs.digg.com/bigspy/?upcoming - kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44Yea, this isn't meant as a replacement for Spy -- just something fun to play around with.
- nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28Would it be possible to enable user to:
1. Change the scale
2. Have two columns and stories scroll side by side.
3. Have a way to scroll down and see a story that scrolled by
Other than that this is really cool!!!! - UglieJosh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28Too fast! My eyes melted.........
Awesome idea, terrible execution..
But what does any of this have to do with Hayes' dad? - danakin, on 10/12/2007, -13/+38Crap, one more thing to get addicted to.
Big Spy is seriously sweet. - thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27Big spy is just freaking ANNOYING
- seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Stack is a lot better now. Its a big improvement. Before I found it a real pain in the butt to use, but now it shows who dugg the story, and its all much more smooth.
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -7/+23Also, check out just the upcoming stories in BigSpy:
http://labs.digg.com/bigspy/?upcoming - jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14A screensaver mode would be sweet.
Someone write a screensaver of this. Mac and PC please. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14@drewhenson
I agree. It's nice in theory but it seriously lacks visual organization. It's much easier to understand how stories are dugg (and which live ones get dugg) through the older chart/graphical systems. I hope they make it more flexible/scalable and customizable. - admirabumblebee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's very choppy here, yet very fast, making it impossible to read. On a brand new macbook pro 17" and it acts the same in opera and safari.
Pretty useless overall.. mostly due to the execution, not the concept. - AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@kevinrose
When are you guys going to bring back the "search your own diggs" feature? I seriously used that all the time, and ever since Digg 3.0 launched, it is gone. Please bring it back! Thanks. - coolian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I take my initial comment back. It's way too fast.
Can we have a speed setting that will determine how fast the stories go down? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9ITS JUST WAYYY TO FAST
- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Also, check out the upcoming stories in BigSpy:
http://labs.digg.com/bigspy/?upcoming
Speed wise it's a little slower than view-all. - kenstone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ya the upcoming view is way better than the view of ones on the front page. Very useful.
- daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6How about a diggspy update that lets you rewind in case you want to go back to something that just went off the screen.
- appletalk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6By the way, stop with this flash toys and fix the search
- kwalker411, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Kevin, these new features are great! Are there any plans to let us filter by category? I would really love to just see World & Business and Technology in a Swarm or Stack view, rather than have it cluttered with Videos and Offbeat News. I work in Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery, so it would be great to see the "important" news without all the clutter. Thanks!
- canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7as a digg spy addict (i keep it open in one window while at the office w/ my work in another window) my first impression of big spy is- neat, but i like the original more. the varied text size and no clear delineation between stories looks more like a jumble than an effective way to watch activity and find interesting stories. fun to watch, but i'm keeping it old school.
great to see continued innovation though, keep up the good work - masgrada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Woah big fonts! I think some smaller font would slow it down
- isuisorisuaint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4there is a big ass pause button on the right hand side...
- norcim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@JamesWilson
Doesn't reducing the speed defeat the purpose? - sovereign3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I actually never used Stack before. It was too unwieldy and I didn't think it had much use. But now it's quite improved. I'll be using it a lot more :)
- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yeah, I'd rather not have to pause it to be able to see everything before it disappears. maybe have a scalable speed option or something.
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I personally don't have too much against signatures. But you do know you're gonna get dugg down into who-knows-where, right?
- appletalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3See:
http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/2055/digglr3.gif - Desolite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3can you make a delete comment button to avoid having atleast 2-3 "bury" comments per article?
just have it work on the same timer as the edit button... and only if its a reply to avoid screwing up thread reply order. - Whoblah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4heh, 'Series of tubes' jokes never get old :P
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/2549/blah4tm0.png - canewediggit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5and who doesn't love new toys?
by the by, i like the deletion of the top user list as well. stated this in the actual story but i think it bares repeating- this is a community, not a competition. still hoping for the day when the submitter's name is not even included.... - ivebeenhigh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I cant see how this is that useful.
The scale needs to be altered. Even better, let users decide on the scale. - daRoach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2After playing around with BigSpy, I'm wondering if it is just some bug I'm encountering using my browser, but I can't click through any of the links. Is that how it is supposed to be or is my computer retarded?
Edit: Never mind, I just tried it in an IE tab and the links work. - profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I honestly hated stack before. Thanks for the update - it's much more useful now.
- nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2THanks. I mean a scrolling list of user names which shows what they are digging., or a way of visualizing where they are clicking, as they click. Yes swarm does that but I was wondering if it could be showed in a different way, similar to bigspy (but users and their diggs scrolling by instead of stories)
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg Swarm does that.
- kufflink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bigspy on a laptop monitor is way too fast and way too BIG. Strike one and two. Good idea, I like the idea of a moving tag cloud.
- nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just imagine.. this tool would show all digg users and their activity, and you can zoom in on a single user and follow their clicks and surf with them!! finally a vouyeristic way to spy on a digg user and watch/read what they are reading :)
- nsharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Re bigspy how about this - when you move your mouse pointer to the left edge of screen the scrolling could pause automatically. This way you could easily pause everything when you see something interesting?
Thing is.. cool stories zoom past so fast that by the time I'm ready to click it has scrolled by and I can't get that story back :( - goodoldharris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2BigSpy very cool but too fast. Still I'd like to use it as a screensaver.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6To be able to change the speed!
- flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.edot-studios.com/webgroups2/index.php?menu_item=39
try it with idelweb on OSX, trippy. - dosle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2plugged BigSpy into DiggSaver. Sweet.
- jcs_goog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love BigSpy! Best for use in Upcoming Stories.
- tablatronix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Too big too fast
Makes my head hurt and it totally unusable.
and whats with the negative space on the bottom, waste - geezusfreeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is alright, but I want to be able to limit the visualization tools to certain categories!
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its the bomb!
- hmemcpy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now a "Microsoft" or "Windows" category, and digg would be truly perfect.
