- jayadelson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+63What some users of digg are not getting, and it's our mistake for not making it clearer, is that we did NOT intend to associate our algorithm change with the top submitters! These guys are hard working, honest, amazing contributors to digg, and frankly are being unfairly treated by a few bad apples.
Please, for goodness sake, stop with the targeted burying. Digg stories you like. Bury stories you don't. Don't make this personal. If there is abuse, trust us to deal with it, that is all I can ask. - 3monkeys, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Thank you for finally saying that Jay. Well you know, not to be pointing fingers and such. You may have said it in some other thread, but this is the first time I've seen it. Though it seems as though a lot of damage as been done. Guess we'll see where this all falls out.

Thanks for weathering the storm. I haven't had a chance to do much research on this topic, but a lot of what I've been reading sounds like sour grapes. I'll simply say this: everything I know indicates that you're promoting the site, not yourself.
The fact that a bunch of people digg a lot of stuff means they will digg many things in common. No surprise there. All we need to do is read a person's comments to get a feel for who they are and how they think. Stacy, you're all right and you deserve a truckload of credit for all the work that you've done. I assume the same is true for the other guys on the list.
Thanks for sticking with it rather than jumping ship. - BullyJack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I don't like the 'bury' button. Certain members attempt to censor stories that don't promote their political agendas. In addition, if members bury a story they shouldn't comment on it as well. That doesn't make sense.
- BlueNine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Given that who submits a story should have 0.0 affect on how popular it is, might it be a good idea to simply obscure the nick of the submitter?
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@tonicboy - Alright, I'll take back what I said and apologize to Jay. Sorry!
- 3monkeys, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Thanks for the support. I'm still with digg now, until the effects of the new algo can be determined. I always try to submit mainly quality articles, I do submit a few off-beat articles from time to time, which I never expect to go front page and I could care less. But, if the new algo punishes me for having friends that are interested in programming, open source, xml technologies, linux, and stupid videos ... well then it will be time for me to leave.
I'm already participating in a few other ventures. Let's just keep the faith for a bit longer. - tonicboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@headzoo
"Way to defend the top diggers, while tossing aside everyone else by calling us bad apples."
I don't think you get it at all. There really are a FEW bad apples. A group of users who have made a personal vendetta against the top users and are burying all their stories, resulting in a reverse gaming situation. Their behavior is not contributing anything positive at all to Digg, so please don't defend them. Jay's comment was not in reference to "everyone else", so don't take it so personally. - pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I also think this is the key. Digg can know, but we cant.
- kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Fights to maintain relevancy? *****. Nice sensationalist headline there...
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"and frankly are being unfairly treated by a few bad apples"
Way to defend the top diggers, while tossing aside everyone else by calling us bad apples. You should be happy that those "bad apples" care enough about Digg to make such a ruckus. If no one really gave a damn, no one would have said anything. They would have gone on about their day, or found a different site to visit. - b7illsmith, on 10/12/2007, -28/+1"Don't make this personal."
Kind of ironic isn't it? Digg uses words like "friends", "social", and "community" :)
Isn't there an algoirthm to handle targeted burying?
