- PatrickFisher, on 10/12/2007, -6/+51In related news: Digg continues to battle stupid comments with excessive profanity.
- Aloyarc, on 10/12/2007, -10/+30Diggah please!
Who really ***** cares? - tomboy501, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17It was all because of a girl? awww...supernova, that's almost romantic...almost :)
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I'd read this but I have a cyberdate with lonelygirl15. She finally broke up with that loser "friend" of hers and I really think we've got chemistry. I'm not quite sure why she keeps asking me for my credit card number though.
- dan0111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10The truth is, people should view the stories and see where they came from before digging them. There are too many users here who just click digg before looking at the site, and then click on the link, never look at the comments and that's it - not very good for the digg community.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Wow.. JetNumbers is getting amazing publicity over this. I should start a company, and then get caught trying to bribe a top user! Becoming part of a scandal is more beneficial than a measly front page Digg submission.
- nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What if this was a fake story? Ever think of that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"After booting the reinstating one of their Top Users"
Huh? Can someone explain what this is trying to say? How do you boot a reinstating?
I'm tired of the extremely poor writing skills often on display at Digg. It makes the site look like amateur hour, as though the average age of the readership is 14 years old. For all its flaws, you don't get this kind of piss-poor writing style at Slashdot. - tomboy501, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4...there are a few of us around.
Perhaps intelligence isn't measured by a girl's resilience to stick around despite the extremely "intelligent" level of digg's comment section lately. I question my sanity sometimes. - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5We could use more girls around here in general. This just proves that women are less intelligent than men.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I'm pretty sure this story is a fake...
- Bansuri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Blastradius, it's funny to see someone botch a headline because they are in such a hurry to post the story about a "top user" who abused his position and in posting the story hope that they become a "top user" also.
It's a Digg eat Digg world in here. - vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Only if 90% of the people complaining about the Mac shills uncheck Apple as a topic.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7In my opinion Digg should have a public mod team killing of spam kinda like how Netscape has. Yes I know I will get Dugg down but hey it's just a suggestion, you can only rely on coding and algorithms for so long.
- jeffhurlow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As a big fan of the company Blast Radius and it's design work, your comment reflects poorly on them. You should consider either not using their name as your username or refraining from being a total dick.
- dakari, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6"Digg continues to battle fake stories" ...and an ugly re-design.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thats what email a link is for but maybe you should submit the idea of bookmarking to the staff, however I can't say that it will actually be accepted by the masses.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3To all those marketers and people artificially getting diggs, ***** YOU!
- markperia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I do that a lot only cause sometimes work gets in the way. So I have to use digg as sort of a "bookmark" so i can read it later at home and decide if i want to keep it digged or undigg it.
- Araxen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2should have kept that person booted. they'll do it again but they'll be more sneaky about.
- dan0111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's actually a great idea...bookmarking a link...but it may make things too complex.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All this clandestine intrigue is so exciting.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1By that logic, Sony, which has been garnering nothing but bad publicity regarding their PS3 launch, is doing a wonderful job of pushing their new console ahead of the competition.
I won't digg you down because we're just tossing around opinions and observations here, but I'm pretty sure that there is such a thing as bad publicity that will hurt your business. There's plenty of other legitimate ways for this company to get themselves out there, bribing a top Digg submitter with money and/or services was most definitely not a good move, and talking about it is hurting the company's reputation and not helping them. There's something seriously flawed with the idea that in order to do justice to a company that tried to bend the rules, we have to maintain an aura of secrecy and absence of relevant discussion. - MaddDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they have a private spam-killing mod team
- gypsyjoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nerd gets girlfriend? FAKE!
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1desperate for attention? or knowing where to go to get the word out from WITHIN their target audience?
let's go over some marketing fundamentals:
- with a few extreme exceptions, no publicity is bad publicity
- getting your name out is much more important in this day and age than having a sparkling reputation
- if you get your name to thousands of people who have never heard of you, a fraction (possibly quite small) will still likely end up participating
- most viral marketing campaigns begin with giving a message to a well-connected individual or group of people
and regarding digg conspiracy theorists... who listens to douchebags that constantly try to come up with drama involving companies/products/services they are too inept to create on their own? who cares what they think about JetNumbers? if anything they'll try to spread more crap about them, and only help get their name out. - mickaloha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is this news? I don't see a question mark after the headline. How can I believe this? This sounds like opinion. If the title was "Digg Continues to Battle Fake Stories?", then it would be true. "Digg Continues to Battle Fake Stories?" is a headline that that has cojones. "Digg Continues to Battle Fake Stories?" is a headline that says "elect me for president".
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Uhh, yeah but none of the publicity is positive really. I'm pretty sure that a company that desperate for attention is probably still working the kinks out of their service.
So, you want to tell me that Digg's conspiracy theorists are going to read that and be like, "Oh, JetNumbers, that's one fantastic company. They definitely know how to do it right." - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Marked as inaccurate--this is a fake story.
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1With money invested and Ad revenue streaming in, I can only surmise that the Top diggers/stories are influenced.
- cheesehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Love Digg!!.Especially the aspect of the healthy debate. Despite opinions, less thought out.
Glad to hear that there is an awareness developing towards the planting and cultivating self serving stories.
I hope that the awareness extends to the political topics.
If the spinning of political topics can be engineered by a well organized group on Digg, like the gov't, what would be the difference between Digg and Fox TV? - thecheatah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea yea, its not perfect, just leave it alone.
(its the imperfections that make it perfect)
If digg was a girl it would get all gidddy - invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1you may have won this battle..
- pbaylis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1There's irony here, I'm sure of it...
- elipabst, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0In other news, Godzilla seen battling Mothra of the coast of Hoboken NJ. John Gotti found. Bush aces IQ test.
- goatswii, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Then is it safe to expect that 90% of the Mac shills on this board will get booted also?
- blastradius, on 10/12/2007, -66/+14"After booting the reinstating one of their Top Users ..."
Try to ***** proofread before submitting, asshat.
