;-) - D-Man, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Knowing the way that digg is setup (i.e.: 75 servers before the Digg 3.0 launch... likely more at this point), separate servers perform separate tasks. The server(s) that check(s) for duplicate stories upon submission (and the search servers, for that matter) is(are) probably a few minutes (if not an hour or so) behind the server(s) that store the stories themselves... It could also be an indexing server that runs a periodic index (probably somewhere between every 5-30 minutes).
This is all speculation... but it's worth thinking about before crying 'dupe'.
