- sniper6121, on 10/12/2007, -7/+56They are adding tons of new topics looks sweet! I like how you will be able to choose what topics to watch aswell.
- brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -8/+51Sure. Because all the Digg stories are original where as the New York Times just collects stories from other sources.
Oh...wait. - stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+42Damn, it also looks likes there will be a lot more friend integration...

12000 diggs for the macbook? - reldren, on 10/12/2007, -15/+45You're all complete morons. You idiots post the articles, post the 'insightful' comments, and basically do all the work, and who gets the advertising money? Not you boneheads. Nice going retards.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -8/+37I agree, sniper6121. And by the looks of it, I'll have some cool new way to let you know I agree on Monday. Very exciting stuff.
- p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -6/+34"Digg is looking more and more like the newspaper of the web, and is challenging even the New York Times on page views (Digg surpassed rival Slashdot long ago)."
Assuming the mantle of the New York Times: Digg will soon become "the news-source of record." - RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -27/+54Long live Digg! I hope 3.0 wipes Netscape, Slashdot, Fark and BoingBoing off the map.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24We need screenshots of what a post and thread looks like!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+33I love Digg. It's the best.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25What do we get?
-A good site to enjoy.
-New features on a regular basis.
-Weekly podcast
-Good community /w friends system, watch lists, etc.
-Fast servers, minimal ads.
-RSS feeds of stories I dug so I can send them to other people who don't browse digg everyday - Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23stlcadet11 - I'll be your friend....
I'm lonely too :(
God digg is starting to be High School all over again :p - dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21well, then where exactly is the website that we can post comments on and get paid for it?!
- strangeguitar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22I liked how, on the last episode of Diggnation, Kevin pretended to be put off by the screenshot leak. As if he didn't put it forward as a promotion. Clever boy.
- brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20They way you worded that makes you a dick.
None-the-less, that *is* an interesting point. - datter, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28"You're all complete morons. You idiots post the articles, post the 'insightful' comments, and basically do all the work, and who gets the advertising money? Not you boneheads. Nice going retards."
Best. Comment. Ever. - RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18We get literally the best and fastest newsfeed on the planet, plus lively discussion and the power to put stories we care about in front of millions of eyeballs. Fair trade.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20http://flickr.com/photos/ricmac/ Full resolution screenshots.
- djdole, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Have you never seen Digg Spy?
- evilpettingzoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Got to hand it to the digg team it looks top notch. Now, I can not only be a "know it all" in tech, but in general topics as well. Can't wait till Monday. God my friends are going to hate me ... all two of them.
- djdole, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Ehh, I can do without the sports section.
Who wants to put up with the flame-wars when "ribbon dancing" and "synchronized swimming" articles get submitted to the "sports" section? :-p - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14The screenshots don't show all of digg .. like the area within submitted articles.
I think there are tons of features we won't see until it is released. - RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17I hope they implement keyword blocking next. I want to filter out crap like Moore, Coulter, Democrat, Republican, Global Warming, Kyoto, Gore, Loose Change, DRM, RIAA, MPAA, etc.
- nugge7, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19No sports? :-(
- datter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13oh and just for the record, I think this transition to a "full news" site is a great thing for digg *IF* there is a setting in your profile section that will allow you to choose what your default category is when you visit the site.
That way you could go into your profile and select "Just show tech content" or something and the site wouldn't be any different for you than it is now. Others might have their default view of digg set to show only entertainment, or world news etc.
I think that would be damned fine. - middleman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Its funny I look at my local newspaper and even CNN and I see the things that have mad eit to the front page here on there front pages or as there top headlines.
- GWoods, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13bigger pics at http://www.betanews.com/article/Digg_From_Cult_Favorite_to_Mainstream/1151013551
- DrummerGirl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13"I'll be your friend"
Awwwwww! I'll be both of y'alls friend :P - thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I'm expecting to see some "your dog wants" ***** fark headlines.
Users beware, if you post in the wrong section you will be flamed. - AKBryant54, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14ur right middleman, in fact i saw a front page article on my local newspaper 2 days after i saw it on digg lol
- valour, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Finally, I can block all of the Apple stories. Of course that means I'll see about 5 fewer stories per day in my RSS reader...
- Rojahon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9*crosses fingers* I'm hoping for true threaded comments
- GWoods, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12thanks!
- Masterp9896, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Digg 3.0 will be sweet, but i think ill still miss the goodness that is digg now...
- Bogtha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9> oh and just for the record, I think this transition to a "full news" site is a great thing for digg *IF* there is a setting in your profile section that will allow you to choose what your default category is when you visit the site.
Look at the screenshots - the feature is there, it's pretty much a direct analogue of Slashdot's prefs in this respect.
This is good. Now the people who want Digg to be a tech news site can set things up to ignore the non-tech stuff instead of marking all the non-tech stuff as lame, and the people who want Digg to be a general news site with politics, stupid viral links etc don't have to read all the complaints, won't get their stories reported as lame, and won't be referred to the FAQ any more. - datter, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12I was just coming here to post this. Welcome to what will no doubt be an enormous thread.
- cerisaac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Digg needs to improve the means in which to "make friends" big time. I love Digg and all it's friends features, but while the one way friend thing is nice, it would be even better if they created a way to meet and make friends. The comments sections aside, I suggest message boxes and/or an instant messenger system. Hell, even an old fashioned forum might work.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The other day I was caught using DIGG while at work. One of the supervisors came up to me later and asked me, "what is digg"? So I showed him. Then I did a digg search regarding the software that we work with (will not mention what software) and he was impressed with the articles that he saw. As a matter of fact, I am supposed to send those type of new link up for further research from now on...
- sharedferret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8They're probably being realistic... with the new categories there'll probably be enough users that stories WILL get 12,000+ diggs.
- RonAcierno, on 02/07/2008, -2/+8I think Digg 3.0 looks amazing ... WHY NO SPORTS SECTION THOUGH!!!! You know how many more people and hits this site would get if they had sports ... it would open it up to a whole new range of market IMO
- twiztedambience, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6haha suckered into more work for the 'man'...
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The problem with that is idiots can't comprehend how to choose the correct catagories.
- MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14why isn't there a microsoft category...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I think I can easily reach 500 front page count by the fall season with all those sweet categories. =)
- BBX25, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Here's good luck to Digg 3.0! :D
- Macintosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5No feature to be notified on when someone replies to one of your comments?
- Pogue_Mahone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6OR, you could just de-select the categories that are beneath your intellectual level and have digg remain the same as it always has been for you.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Whats worng with apple?
But I think I'll block too. I don't use any apple products and I have no reason to read them on digg. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I don't want to say it but.. Newsvine pays its users 90% revenue for submitted and written articles. the chances of digg doing that also is Zilch.
But Newsvine and Digg are both great websites and I don't think they should be considered as competitors. - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Note the video section. Now, we can have comedy too.
