- dep01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I should add, this is a standard feature in a @#(*ing webmail interface. It shouldn't be touted as some "long awaited new feature" that they've slaved away on to bring you...
- 1337geek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1about time, ya im sure a ton of use use the extension, its always the first thing i install with a new run of firefox.
- dep01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Geez. This is news? they should've added this 2 lines of code several months ago.

Google in Delete Button shocker
/the sun/
Google reinvent email with one click delete
/the mirror/
Google is evil you must fear everything
/the daily mail/
Google deleted my hamster
/the star/ - davidkain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I absolutely agree with the author on the topic of forwarded e-mails. I HATE having the reply-to automatically pop up as the address the e-mail was forwarded from, rather than the person who sent me the e-mail in the first place.
Nice to see Google is actively supporting and improving gmail. - diggdawg723, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For someone who doesn't have a lot of time throughout the day - one extra click adds up - especially with all the spam that seems to be getting through Google's 'filter'.
- volatileacid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd rather the b'stards at google! implement an EMPTY SPAM FOLDER button, to clear out all the spam in one go. (This is not currently possible, and for all the newbies out there, don't try and tell me it is!)
I've emailed google to no avail (wasn't expecting much)
I really think that the problem with not being able to clear out the spam folder, is that when you want to check it regularly to see if googles spam algorithms have accidentally canned legitimate emails, it becomes very difficult because of all the other messages in there. - SpectreBlofeld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is by far the most pointless and stupid front page Digg I've ever seen.
- shawgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they finaly realized how much space peoples emails would eventually take.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I already have one.
There's a firefox extension
http://www.arantius.com/article/arantius/gmail+delete+button/ - bluntman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it also looks like the captcha system was implemented by one of the aforementioned nerds
- bluntman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0MrPhelps asks: How can lame stories as this one end up on the front page?rnrnWelcome to Digg, you must be new here.rnMajority rules here, and the majority is comprised of 14 year old pimply faced nerds.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2More like when I press 'delete' my message will be sent straight to the NSA for processing.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Delete button isn't showing up on my gmail as of 10:41am CST
- chrisbudden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't seem to be on my gmail yet, but I have the FF ext installed so im not worried.
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THANK YOU GOOGLE...
Finally. - jakebechtold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gmail is down right now (10:24 pm Eastern). Could they be updating now? Anyway, + Digg!
- amitpagarwal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, they have it now
http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/01/google-adds-gmail-delete-button.html - FZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The absence of this feature was so ridiculous that this story deserves a digg.
- Braulio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I posted this A LONG time ago.
- TheCheeta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0punk... it is called "usability"
If I can design something that is highly usable that uses less clicks, the better. Common web designer sense. - brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does this mean google is running low on space?
- stardog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's about time...
- 06metzp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh wow! one click instead of two! a-freakin-mazing...

- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool. That will make it better :) rnrnNot like Gmail could get any better *shrugs*
- gamabunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0call me crazy but didn't this used to be in gmail and was somehow phased out?
- noahbradley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...Who actually wants to delete their email? I mean, c'mon, it's gmail.
- krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Didn't Eudora have a delete function? I think mutt does too. Good thing Google decided to join the 90's! *whew*
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GO GOOGLE!
- jmacdonagh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dear God. Where do they come up with their ideas?
- steelsun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I asked for one over a year ago when they wanted and replied to comments.
For some reason though, I am still not seeing it on my accounts. - MrPhelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How can lame stories as this one end up on the front page ?
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never understood why this was left out from the beginning. "Never have to delete your email" is stupid as hell. Not every email is worth saving. I would go so far as to say the vast majority of them are not worth saving, even after you exclude the spam. 99.99% of my emails, after I reply to them, will never be referenced again. Storing them on the off chance I will need them again is simply not particularly useful.
Now, I admit that GMail has made it a lot more convienent in some, rare, circumstances. Like when I needed an address for somebody while I was at work, I could pop over to GMail and search for an email from a year ago where she sent it to me, but if I lacked that, I could have simply emailed her or called her for the information. Important stuff we tend to remember, and unimportant ***** isn't really worth building a massive email archive for, even if it doesn't take a lot of space. - medieval, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have no "delete" button. woe is me...
- Heilemann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0THIS STOYR SI AMAZYING121!
Seriously, how the hell did this get almost 700 diggs?! - blijack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0finally. digg!
- watuzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About ***** time Goggle added the goddamn delete button in gmail. I hate installing the gmail delete extension every time I install firefox.
- buddapalm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, our bar is so low for google. The next article like this will be something like: "New Gmail feature: organize e-mail folders hierarchically". No digg.
- flashmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, I wish there was a delete button on this digg!
- Yodacola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0/cheer
- glucoseboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally. despite all the statements about never having to delete your email, there are things that I simply do not want to keep.
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope it has a keyboard shortcut too.
P.S. I hate these verification codes DIGG added. - MLBudToo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://digg.com/technology/Finally...a_Gmail_delete_button_
Put this on Digg yesterday, when it was only showing up on a few gmail accounts. Guess it's more widespread now. - roadrunner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0More keyboard short cuts....
