- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's pretty clear where all this was headed when equal access got thrown out by the supreme court under BushCo. supervision (yet another Powell assisted coupe).
What municipalities and utility boards and consumers ought to realize is that net neutrality is in their best interest... and if they can't have "net neutrality" over a particular carrier's brought and paid for infrastructure (that was the heart of the supreme court appeal), they they damned will better off up right of way to anything and anyone willing to wire up the last mile themselves. In fact, if I had been writing the right of way access contracts during the late 1970's and 1980's I would have *REQUIRED* cable phone and telecommunications companies to engineer the right of way so that it could easily accomidate additional contracts.
...but hey, we are talking about government here and we all know, first hand, the quality of leadership, vision and foresight that people running the government have.
