[runs and hides] - Universal, on 10/11/2007, -7/+259Kevin duped my title, too :p
- Tracon, on 10/11/2007, -7/+134Duped by a minute i love it.
- le0pard, on 10/11/2007, -1/+107so, about those "new features"....
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -2/+79"PS: Kevin why dont I see any changes anymore? Please reply!"
ahh, you've just got to love when people comment on a story without reading it, demanding answers that the very story was designed to answer in the first place. - guywhodoesstuff, on 10/11/2007, -6/+80You just got served, Rose.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -2/+60That comment is a dupe.
- wounded625, on 10/11/2007, -2/+59Digg on?
That hilarious!
I'm now ending every post with that!
DIGG ON! - chaosmachine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+55the comment system was updated, check out the screenshots: http://blamcast.net/articles/new-digg-comment-system
but then they reverted back to the old system again.. it seemed to be overloading digg, everything was realllly slow. - nreynolds, on 10/11/2007, -13/+65"digg on" is a really stupid way to end posts, kevin(as if you'd ever see this comment)
- revmitcz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+45@ TheRealDeal101 :
I think he summed it up in the post :
"In the meantime, we don’t want to interrupt your Digging any longer so we’re reverting to the current version of the site until we get the kinks worked out." - fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -4/+45,----[ Quote ]
| I want a quote system that
| automatically schestowitzises
| everything.
|
| I heard a rumour that this
| format of quoting makes
| chicks wet.
`---- - Protoss, on 10/11/2007, -4/+36Uh....You know the point of the site is SOCIAL NEWS right? So Kevin really is only in charge of getting new features out. Occasionally he'll submit a story, it'll of course hit frontpage, but he isn't in charge of getting interesting stories.
- Juntistik, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32Is it going to be possible to have a classic view of the comments? The brief moment I saw the new comment system I just didn't really like it too much. Too many links to click I just like having it all laid out in one page besides the buried comments. Just a matter of preference really.
- dagobah77, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31Why the hell would I care about what kind of ice cream you like?
- DapperScoo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30Welcome to Digg.
Lesson #1: Diggers hate spam. Your story will be buried to hell. - Universal, on 10/11/2007, -5/+33"..We’ve been working for several months on a full Disaster Recover site for Digg. Once operational, our DR site will let us make site updates without interruptions.."
Finally!
Now we will be able to digg without being interrupted by "We'll be back shortly."
Can't wait! - EbowUK, on 10/11/2007, -3/+30@ birkoph
"How about you focus on less lame ass features and focus more on getting interesting stories. All these fun facts, funny pics, and top 10 lists are really starting to get old."
You do understand how Digg works, right? Kevin Rose had the idea, made the site happen, blogs every once in a while and sits on a couch with another guy getting drunk for a podcast once a week.
He is not responsible for what people add to the site.
Maybe instead of bleating you could either modify your preferences so you only see stories you want to see, or add some interesting stories of your own?
:: shrug :: - TheFBI, on 10/11/2007, -13/+36I'm burying this *****. Dupe. And I don't care if Kevin Rose posted it!
/internet tough guy - parkermauney, on 10/11/2007, -4/+25Well, thanks to the downtime, my new 2nd favorite site is suicedgirls.com.
- NeoKamek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19"In the meantime, we don’t want to interrupt your Digging any longer so we’re reverting to the current version of the site until we get the kinks worked out."
In other words there's nothing different because it's not live yet. - Gman1223, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18I hate spam flavored ice cream :(
- protogenxl, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18In Soviet Russia Down Time Is Feature
- masterc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14@mysmartmouth- Sorry, no one cares.
- Rodman930, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Maybe now people will stop replying to threads just to get their comment shown near the top.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Kevin, regarding future downtime, two suggestions/thoughts:
1. Announce your planned downtime/outages. Instead of just rolling out features, display something to the effect of "we have scheduled downtime between 7pm and 10pm Eastern on June 18" on the front page so that your users know to expect it.
2. Roll out these kinds of features when Digg usage/traffic is at its minimum -- I wouldn't recommend early/late evening. Perhaps the middle of the night (12AM Pacific) would be better for your users.
I understand if you don't want to make that sacrifice, but these are the little things that contribute to high customer satisfaction. - HMTKSteve, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12I thought diggers did not like it when you submit your own blog to digg?
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -2/+13Yeah....as if we're actually contributing to anything.
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11The new comment system frightens and confuses me.
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10my only thought is: if the new comment system i saw earlier is really the way they are going - they better come up with some way for you to find your comments, because having half of them buried in a closed tree isn't going to help you follow up on a discussion
- JohnKappa, on 10/25/2008, -1/+9Why are the digg up and digg down icons over there on the right adjusted dimensions ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ^ ^
They look crusty - poedguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Yeah, it was enabled for a short while but didn't work well. You can reply to comments and reply to replies, then reply to those replies and so on.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Diggers generally dislike it when you post your own Diggs in the comment section. :)
Let it move up naturally. - thailand1972, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7good point dn11. I always go Ctrl + F and type in my username to find my comment. How can I do that with the new system if it requires an extra click to see my comment? It'd be next to impossible, that's what. If this is what it will be like, then this is a fairly awkward usability issue for your average digger following up on comments.
- akira117, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I don't think digg would even catch a dupe that is so close to each other.
- EbowUK, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Happens to me all the time too. I think it's the 400GB of javascript every page uses for the cool web 2.0 stuff.
;) - plokij909, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I'm in Australia and the site was down for most of the day.. I had to 'work' at work!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10Damnit, they changed it back to the old way. They had it so you could comment like this:
Comment
--comment B
-----comment C
etc. At least now the site doesn't look messed up on pda phones. - omarciddo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Digg also doesn't allow stories to link to digg itself. If you have the "digg this" extension you'll see what I mean.
- XStatic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Will I be able to subscribe and be notified when someone replies to my post?
I feel like I use digg as a dumping ground, I post never to find my messages again and see what others said!
I guess it is kinda pointless to ask this question here :) Perhaps I'll find my way back somehow... - dn11, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7it is slow and requires lots of clicking in order to see 80% of the comments
- phezz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6What ever happened to searching through your own diggs?
I am sure this feature was removed a while back, or am I just missing something? - kcpwnsgman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I noticed a lot of other stories with reply trees more than one node deep
- cubedude6491, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Finally its back
- renegadeafk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"The digg up/digg down of comments is stupid" This is like the whole point of digg...
- xSEED, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5already sucks
- Sc0rian, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5top work digg..
the comments do need sorting out.
loading a story up with loads of comments really maxes out poor firefox.. - twister17e, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"We’re deep into the fixes and should have them done soon. In the meantime, we don’t want to interrupt your Digging any longer so we’re reverting to the current version of the site until we get the kinks worked out...Apologies for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused any of you - we should have the new features up soon."
EDIT: oops you beat me :(. Next feature: delete button :P. - mattmcm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You can check the status of your comments at http://garycarstensen.googlepages.com/comments7.html
- mattmcm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@thomasprebble
This is the story you're looking for.
