(now we just need the owners of every Digg clone to digg and submit to eachother's articles thereby creating a continuous flow of money and traffic) - cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -3/+15This reminds me of the "Flaming Homer" episode of The Simpson's. Once the recipe leaked, everyone decided to have a go at it.. and well.. you know the rest.
No? Ok :) - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I just love what the other sites have used to replace "digg". Like "buzz it", "props", "bump", "hugg it"..
- b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I love the name Hugg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+22While most people on Digg might bury comments with links in them, yours do seem to be usefull and show the strengths of the CMS mentioned. DIGG
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Pligg branched off from Meneame many months ago. One of the major differences is that Pligg uses a template engine called Templite Lite allowing the Pligg community to make their own templates.
Meneame is a Spanish website where as Pligg is in English (can easily be changed to anything). Pligg also allows site admins the ability to control their site from an admin panel where they can manage users, change any text in the template, backup their sites (files and database) and configure all of the site's options. Creating categories is also done from the admin panel. - JeremyCouch, on 12/22/2008, -2/+10marahmarie: you are badmouthing Pligg b/c it's copying Digg? So I guess you must hate open source software like Open Office "that copies" Microsoft Office or GIMP "that copies" Photoshop. Of course that would be ridiculous just like your comments about Pligg.
- JeremyCouch, on 12/22/2008, -1/+7Pligg takes about 2 minutes to install and anyone who can read will be able to easily do it 99.9% of the time. Remember though it is still beta and windows servers and very few other hosts may take an extra couple of minutes to install.
- Yankidank, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8We're actually considering adding features like Swarm ad Stack (as usless as they are). I wanted to add it just as a joke, but I think we have some better ideas for such applications. Graphing is the one thing that I really want to start developing so that we can display graphs for each story displaying the comment and voting rates over a small period of time on a line graph. These sorts of features probably won't be available at least until a 1.0 release.

Glad to see you can make a negative comment without even looking at the software. It does have mod_rewrite and its an optional. Next time learn about the software you want to bash before bashing it blindly you cocksmoker! - tideturner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7pligg is VERY easy to install.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7techtag is meneame and not pligg, although pligg was originaly based on meneame
- dansus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5well anythings got to be better than joomla. looks good.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3wtf are you talking about? 7 was released 6 months ago and was called beta 7. beta 8 was released 2 days ago. Everything in between are "nightlys" versions that are only there for testing.
- Olney, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Congrats Pligg
It has picked up speed considerably over the last 2 months.
Digged... - ifmanis5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow...this turned out to be quite a controversial post.
Digg-purists...simmer down. Digg doesn't quie suck but it is gettnig damn close. It is a bloated news site that is HEAVILY still geared towards techie news. This is painfully obious when looking a the top Digged stories. Not a dounbt in my mind that there are large clusters of Digg-mobs working in collusion to get stories to the top.
Pligg is a great system, the beauty of which is that it is open source, continuously being improved, and open to anyone.
Just my 2 cents. :)

www.ordinarii.com - championchap, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5my favourite one is this digg like porn site that was on the front page a while back.
there was a comment in there somewhere about another similar site.. whose replacment for "Digg it" was "Wank it" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6You have to remember, there hasn't been a new version in 4 or 5 months. It's A LOT easier now than it was before. Maybe you should try it yourself before bashing the software. Or do you not like competition?
- JeremyCouch, on 12/22/2008, -1/+3Fix is on the pligg forum. Will make this an option in the admin panel in future versions.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Pligg beta 8.1.0 has been released with many bug fixes
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pligg/ - ycc2106, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks!
Are you sure they are all pliggs?
It's not mentionned for some. - JimInNY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have used the SVN version of the latest pligg offering and it is fantastic. The only features lacking at the moment are the way categories are structured and the function of the remove voting button.
Once subcategories can be collapsed and vote totals can be made to show on remote voting buttons, it will be near perfect.
I'm trying to make a "9/11 truth" friendly version, since digg seems to be trying to keep breaking 9/11 truth news hidden on this site, as exampled by the recently very popular but unsearchable BBC video reporting building 7 coming down 1/2 before the actual event. If anyone is interested it is at http://www.zlonk.com/
It used to be my poker forum, but after US players were prohibited from playing online it kinda died. I thought it a fairly good domain for a digg clone, so now you can zlonk it. hehehe - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2RC1 and RC2 were considered nightlies.. they were even in the nightly thread in the forum. I don't see how you're getting those confused with the final releases. that only leaves beta 7, beta 8, and 8.1.0. The reason we released 8.1.0 is because there were so many people testing 8 the day it came out we found a lot of serious bugs and security holes. Why would we want our users to still install 8 after that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6@ patience
You obviously missed the (cc) 2006 Fabricio Zuardi some rights reserved. at the bottom.. Go back to myspace and stop spamming on Digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@bassist
You have no clue as to what your talking about.
The last stable release was over 6 months ago..
Put down the guitar, the weed, cut your hair, buy a clue, and then get back to us/// - humaneasy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ AustinGoodchild
Didn't you read above or even seek the code?
http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Create_your_own_Digg_like_site_with_Pligg_beta_8#c3355625
It now uses Template Lite and not Smarty.
http://templatelite.sourceforge.net/
Have a nice day. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@AustinGoodchild
Pligg 8 doesn't use smarty anymore, it uses templatelite. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's an option when you create your site to use either versions.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2if youre going to be a ***** douche and plug your own site, at least link properly. thumbs down, broseph.
- JeremyCouch, on 12/22/2008, -1/+2I think we have got it right this time. It's still not a 1.0 release, but beta 8 compared to beta 7 is like night and day.
- urNetwork, on 05/09/2009, -0/+0There are some good pligg site and some bad ones, most of the problem is SEO issues, you really have to know what your doing in order to make all the pages indexed. Here is an example of a good pligg site SEO:
http://www.urselections.com/
I wonder if anyone have any comments about pligg site response time. form my experience its not relatively fast... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5This guy patience is an obvious troll. I reported him too...
STOP SPAMMING DIGG YOU IDOT - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+9jriley101 stop spamming your site dude.
- jainmanoj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Another good pligg site http://www.jigg.in
- alexhdezp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I will add another pligg powered site http://www.justclap.com, it´s a site focused on intresting positive news about art, culture, science, philantropy, society, etc.
- JeremyCouch, on 12/22/2008, -1/+1That's a little harsh. I'll just say yes it is a feature that's pretty easy to implement.
- logic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, that is a pretty cool twist on a good idea.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@marahmarie
I guess you missed the part in which that same ass clown posted several links in multiple replies that had nothing to do with the story topic.. Where I come from, thats spam..
Then trolls like you come in and agree with that *****...
You are exactly what is making Digg a bad place.. - minagarnetr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0New digg like social service http://socialogs.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5@marahmarie
Its because of morons like you that copyright laws are so ***** up in this country. I know its only your opinion but i hope you and everyone that thinks like you dies a slow and painful death for being so stupid. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+10@patience
I think EVERYONE has lost their patience with you.
I dont give a flying ***** about Ning. This story has nothing to do with it. You are spamming. Simple fact.
You may as well cancel your digg account and start a new one because you've just been reported as a spammer. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Even tough I think you were just spamming I have to say that site is pretty nice ( not the content but the way they did it )
- AustinGoodchild, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1is it still very slow due to smarty?
- drewolanoff, on 06/10/2008, -3/+2Can't turn off image verification :( our server doesn't have GD installed. anyone know a workaround?
- rmccue93, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Now I want to see Pligg Swarm and Stack :D
- InfamousX241, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1They should at least take the time to use mod_rewrite so the links are /title_of_story and not /story.php?title=title_of_story :P
- AustinGoodchild, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5There is also another one (not pligg) named 'supergu' which can be found here: http://www.supergu.com/forum/
and a demo here: http://www.getgui.com/
ps. it's not my site. - Olney, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Super Gu just started but a few of us are waiting for it to be released.
The starter of the program is doing a pretty good & fast job so far. -
