- YancyFryJr, on 07/13/2008, -0/+19Kinda dumb. If you receive a summons, it's in your best interest to appear, if for no other reason than to call ***** of Davenport Lyons.
The worst way to deal with the issue is to not deal with it.
Keep seeding. - inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+16Well, you know what they say...
If you can't beat 'em, wait till they don't show up and claim victory - reyoo30309, on 07/02/2008, -3/+14Torrentfreak never seems to feel threatened. First they said there would be little or no chance of them finding us given the volume of downloaders.. they sent us letters. Then TF said there is little or no chance of us actually being sent to court... our court dates arrived. Then they said don't bother showing up to court cause there will be too many people for them to go after anyway. Now that they have actually won cases... they tell use the victories mean nothing cause we fallowed their advice?

"First they said there would be little or no chance of them finding us given the volume of downloaders.. they sent us letters"
We never said any such thing. Show everyone here the link that supports that.
"Then TF said there is little or no chance of us actually being sent to court... our court dates arrived"
You say 'our court dates'' as if you're involved. Are you one of these 4 people who actually admitted liability before reaching court? Why did you admit liability? Why didn't you turn up to defend yourself?
"Then they said don't bother showing up to court cause there will be too many people for them to go after anyway"
That is just an outright lie. We have always advised people to respond to court documents. Read this detailed article we published on this matter from a lawyer

"Now that they have actually won cases... they tell use the victories mean nothing cause we fallowed their advice?"
They 'won' because people (including yourself?) admitted liability then didn't turn up to court to actually defend themselves. These 'wins' do mean little as no-one has defended any of these cases yet.
I could care less if you take a shot at myself or TorrentFreak, but to try to trash our efforts in supporting those people accused in these cases (we're in personal touch with around 40 people) is simply destructive.
If you have better advice, then let's hear it. Your unsubstantiated 'facts' about what we are supposed to have said mean nothing without the sources. - Skooma714, on 07/03/2008, -1/+9TF is bunch of guys trying to romanticize bittorrent and acting like they are crusading for free speech.
- slyzxx, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7May be torrent freak is the goverment OMG
- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4When in fact the only thing they are interested in is getting something for free.
- duckyinc, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3If you don't show up you gave up...
- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2I guess you better think twice next time you decide to illegally download a copy of Dream Pinball 3D...
- diggmegood, on 07/03/2008, -1/+3@reyoo: TorrentFreak hasn't said any of those things, anyone can post a load of random 'facts' as you have done. If you want credibility, post links to prove your case. Take up that simple challenge.......
- CCUboogernjit, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2But comon man its DREAM PINBALL 3D!!!!!
- SIRBERUS, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2My question is, though, how do they determine what people are most likely to not show up in court?
Any ideas, diggers? - Bananas21ca, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1Where are all the comments?
Only 6 ?!? - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -4/+4***** THE RIAA
- joearchy, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Ever notice no matter what it is saying, any article involving piracy has somebody (maybe two) sayin "***** the RIAA/MPAA"? I'm all for this I just think its cliche ^^ and @Bananas21ca: wow i know right, I get these stories from the feed, i'm usually the last one to get a comment in.
- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -1/+0So the makers of Dream Pinball 3D are getting money by default. Great! Now there is a respectable business model. No one turns up and you get paid, all you have to do is peek into peoples homes (through a window) and see if they are using bit torrent. Send them a summons, if they resist then its too hard. If they ignore you then they may not turn up at all.
Its kind of like bashing grandma for the $5 she has in her purse...
So to the makers of 3D pinball. FU You have no morality. - duckyinc, on 07/03/2008, -3/+1Much like how courts hit anybody who fails to appear, I wonder why torrent users always want to play the victims
