- peterjmag, on 09/26/2008, -0/+68Won't catch on. Requires too much physical activity.
- Hobbes24, on 09/26/2008, -0/+46can already do it simply by moving my fingers.
god people are stupid - przemeklach, on 09/26/2008, -0/+36Pushing buttons is too much work already, this is not helping.
- aserer511, on 09/26/2008, -4/+37quickest way to channel surf?

- sbcea, on 09/26/2008, -0/+11We fight too much over the remote as it is. Imagine fighting over limbs ... could get ugly ... slasher film ugly!
- CamEdwardo, on 09/26/2008, -0/+10This+Wii = Deadly combination
- Wuss, on 09/26/2008, -0/+9or wave your thumb down on the button on the remote.
I'd much prefer a TV that requires the visual detection of 20 jumping jacks to go up one channel. - EtherGnat, on 09/26/2008, -0/+9Yeah, I'm not sold either. But if anybody ever makes a TV where you can mute political ads by giving the set the middle finger I'm in.
- panic, on 09/26/2008, -0/+9I will and I'll control it using an IR remote from the comfort of my couch.
- mywhitenoise, on 09/26/2008, -0/+8Playboy? Are you 12?
- leerayIG88, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7What if you dont have any arms? What then?
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+7I don't think TV retailers are going to enjoy this feature on the show room floor.
- mnortei, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5We're gonna be so fat soon you guys
- zadadka, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5Too small to be tracked ...even by a Wii ;)
- GoKings, on 09/26/2008, -0/+5For the love of christ can't they just make a tv with a "Find the remote" button on it? It's not very complicated technology, and I'd be much more satisfied with it.
- salter84, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4once I can change a channel using just my brian waves I'll be impressed.
- jordan314, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4Just because a researcher comes up with an idea doesn't mean we'll all have this in our TVs "soon".
- roijen, on 09/26/2008, -1/+5I am picturing the hilarity that could insue during a video conference with this tech.
In a more related note I am a big fan of removing peripherals from and having all your electronics understand you just as if they were another person. Vision technology like this is really exciting, especially if it could be used as another level of security where your house just recognizes you by your looks and movement. - riptor666, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4This won't work well when your watching porn.
- Nouman6, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4ya, I want to think the channel and have it change.
- Br3ach, on 09/26/2008, -0/+4I got that already, I just wave to my fiance when she walks by to change it for me (and that is no *****, she broke the freaking remote to our unknown brand POS tv)
- algaeturd, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4Yay! We can get eve more lazy than we already are!
- oblique63, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Im totally gonna patent a remote controlled robotic tv-waving arm...
- SIRBERUS, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3Seriously... this seems like it would have come before remotes, and then when remotes came out it would be like "Simply using your fingers!".
This is stupid, but interesting. - ALink2ThePast, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3I think anyone who has read Hitchiker's Guide knows how annoying this would be in practice . . .
And yes, it also requires too much physical activity. - odnaryperson, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3baahh, to much work...
id rather slightly depress my finger - mogdor, on 09/26/2008, -1/+4Hmm.....this is going to make watching porn difficult.........
- Fleagleman, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Guys will be returning these TV's to the store, complaining that the channel changes on them at the best part of what they were watching.
- londubh, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3You could control it by waving your dick.
- Lorddias, on 09/26/2008, -0/+3Yeah but you can't lose the remote anymore.. Unless your hand gets blown off or something.
- datagod, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Elvis used to do this...buy at the end of his arm he had a .45
Oh well... - AndrewDB, on 09/26/2008, -1/+3Duplicate story .. was already up here once.
- homercles337, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Im sorry, but there is just way too much ambiguity with gesture based interfaces. Never going to happen. Not to mention, imagine anyone in your area controlling the damn device.
- inactive, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Now that would catch on big time. It's gotta be easier than twitching your finger or it simply has no chance of getting traction.
- zadadka, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2W-a-y cooler : http://www.wristdreams.com/archives/2005/06/midas_ ...
- THETEH, on 09/26/2008, -1/+3What? Waving my arms around takes ENERGY!! I want a TV I can control just by blinking!
Cynicism aside, this IS pretty cool. - ChayD, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Sixty inches - that's not a TV, that's a wall!
- rsc0, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2They should give Douglas Adams credit for the concept, which appeared in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (book) in the form of a stereo that dispensed with the old-fashioned 'remote' and used gestures to control.
- Chimone, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2Im Lazy, I would rather push a button with my thumb on the remote, than move my whole arm.
- Katana314, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Blinking? Look, maybe you love your morning eye-exercise shows, but what about the rest of us who want something where we can continue staring?
- str3ama, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2lol at all the disgruntled people watching porn on tv, the channel changes away everytime their hand goes below the equator lol
- Katana314, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Unless they start using brainwaves, torso boy will continue to receive discrimination.
- Memnochxx, on 09/26/2008, -0/+2What's more lazy than pressing 1 to 3 buttons a remote? I'll tell you what isn't, waving your arm.
- Blandyman, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Just make the remote that comes with the set have a receiver on in (instead of only a transmitter) so that you can do a "Page", like you do with a house phone, and the remote beeps and lights go off until you find it and shut that ***** up.
- Meocross, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1*Swish Swish, Spin Spin... Television explodes.. makes a run for it*
You waved it. you buy it. - Philbert, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Left foot?
- zdiggler, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1That's way too much to change the channel. i got a new one,
Next generation user walk up and press the button the front of the TV to control.
Buttons are way to go. UHF remotes are way to go. - s4g4n, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1I can see this situation where people are watching the superbowl and when the team scores they wave their arms around and the tv switches off or something more awkward like tuning to HBO porn on demand.
- Memnochxx, on 09/26/2008, -0/+1Thanks for explaining. Nobody would have gotten it without you.
