- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -5/+129youtube's community is composed of mostly retards, anyway
- ReeseSV, on 01/09/2009, -15/+91This is really important, digg and share guys! If we just stand on the sidelines and do nothing, YouTube won't be in the hands of its community anymore in a year or so from now...
- asgardshill, on 01/11/2009, -3/+70I don't give a rat's ass if Youtube makes a few shekels here and there, but I do hate being LIED TO by them when somebody catches them manipulating and gaming their system. Don't insult my intelligence by offering up some lame excuse about a glitch; just put up a category called "Most Viewed SPONSORED Links" and call it a day. There's no need to lie when you don't have to.
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -3/+41looking for a NEW youtube !
- Fraeger, on 01/09/2009, -4/+38Whats stopping from youtube from keep on doing this, there are no rules against them for doing this, so they can keep on manipulating most viewed for... well forever
- DuxDucis, on 01/11/2009, -0/+27If you are looking for quality, then check out Vimeo.
They had 720p vids before anyone else that I know of. Very forward-looking and creative community, unlike the cesspool that is YouTube today. - azureskies88, on 01/11/2009, -1/+23Considering YouTube's community, maybe that wouldn't be so bad...
- adkenc, on 01/11/2009, -3/+22why do people take websites so seriously?
- ReeseSV, on 01/09/2009, -1/+20Guess it's up to us to expose them whenever it happens then :) .
- Jeffler, on 01/11/2009, -3/+20Though nowhere near as bad, I did point out that youtube definitely has a partner slant the other day:

This one is just ridiculous though, and makes mine look like nothing in comparison. - sabster, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15god forbid
- WhiteHatTrick, on 01/11/2009, -1/+13We're not mad they "used one of their assets to make money". We're mad that they're being dishonest.
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -5/+17***** YOUTUBE!
- NoDisk, on 01/11/2009, -3/+14@mooseontheloose
You can't put an introductory clause at the end. Hence the word "Introductory."
If you read the link that you yourself posted, you will see (at the very beginning, no less) that commas are only used to separate structural elements of a sentence. The only exception is when the comma is necessary for clarity. In your sentence, the "introductory clause ... at the end" does not represent another structural element, nor does it clarify the sentence.
At the very best, your use of a comma before the word "anyway" might be a comma splice (i.e. "Youtube's community is composed of mostly retards. Anyway."), but it is likely just a mistake. And, for the record, it's "...composed mostly of retards."
I really don't mind grammatical errors in comments, and in forum posts/replies. But when you defend the mistake, *and are supported by Diggs*, you're just polluting the universe.
Another link to examine:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fail - sleeknerve, on 01/11/2009, -0/+11I dont know if this is true or not, but aren't those views the total amount of views the video has received, and not in the allotted amount of time that he specified in the options. For instance, The miley Cyrus video might have been on youtube for more than a week, garnering many more views than the others have received, but the other videos might have received more views in the past 7 days, but not total.
Im not saying that youtube is right here, im just saying i would want to know the full context of whats going on. - ansatsu29, on 01/11/2009, -2/+13YouTube is becoming more like a censorship board. They suck right now. And they are start banning some of the user videos that "have copyrights issues per se".
My dedication video that used Michael Buble's song, "Home" got banned because of the same reason. I credited the song at the end of my dedication video but a ***** copyright owner raised issues about it (and I dont ***** know who he is). However, Youtube blocked the video, which freaking sucks, after the video garnered 6,000 views (which is pretty good for a first video). - WhiteHatTrick, on 01/11/2009, -3/+14They made plenty of profit before lying and cheating. Don't minimize this. Being a business does not give them a free pass to lie and cheat.
- SmellyGeekBoy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+11Yep, YouTube's "HD" videos still make me laugh... Vimeo's quality is always top-notch, even at full screen. Highly recommended.
- nomadxx7, on 01/11/2009, -0/+10I use porntube or youjizz. Just like YouTube but better
- and303, on 01/11/2009, -7/+16Wow. I'm beginning to wonder if Youtube is owned by some sort've entity that is trying to make a profit.
- Leezus, on 01/11/2009, -0/+8oh god, oh god, oh god.
What if Youtube actually finds a not only viable, but lucrative business model at the cost of a popularity contest among morons!?
WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING! - dawnraid101, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Zomg! He is missing a full stop as well.
- solid12345, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8Honestly who cares, I have never once bothered to look at the top videos anyway as they are usually some stupid teenagers dancing on a webcam or a cat doing tricks. I'd rather just use the search feature and find what I want, thank you.
- cloviejr, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7I'm outraged that Guy Lighting His Farts and Camcorder'd Movie Trailer were unfairly ousted from their rightful place.
- IamNomad, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7I know ill get dugg down for this but... youtube is business like any other. if they want to advertise on their website and sell webspace.. they can. If you dont like it, there are other free video services. (myspace video, google vid, etc)
- DarkProd, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7Vimeo > YouTube
- deweyhewson, on 01/11/2009, -1/+7And one company manipulating its product as being something it's not is better than another company doing the same thing, so long as the first is Google, and the second Microsoft?
If they want to put commercials in the video listings then that is up to them, but lying to their users is wrong. - PolicePeople, on 01/11/2009, -3/+9no, one, cares.
- harris2004, on 01/11/2009, -2/+7Good thing someone caught this...I was wondering when they will be forcing these things on YouTube users. STAND and FIGHT against this.
- spriggig, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Since the stats only show "total views" and not "views for today" or "views in last 24 hours", it's possible that the commercials legitimately ended up on top of the most views today list in the early morning in spite of having far fewer total views than the next closest video. Perhaps Google, a for profit company, is playing around with the algorithm to get paid videos more attention, but on their search engine they clearly mark paid results as such. It doesn't seem like they'd try to hide their favoritism on YouTube, but who the hell knows? They gotta make money at this thing or shut it down, simple as that.
- BeBigs, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6Let's all try to out-smart each other and make ourselves feel better!
- ihaveasecret, on 01/11/2009, -1/+6I work for a company that did some advertising with YouTube recently and you'd be extremely surprised at how non-random that site is. We were able to remove comments, videos, place our videos at any position we wanted...they will do anything if you pay them enough.
- petjuli, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Youtube is owned by a company that is trying to make money ... so they cheat their own system every now and then ... not surprised.
- xmykro, on 01/10/2009, -2/+7Reese, if there was a internet rules committee, I would vote for you as chairman. You have been great at putting the word out to keep things equal and fair.
- FTWmovin2canada, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5I'd like to think that your story made more people pay attention to this system which resulted in the author writing this article. Is it coincidence that the article came out the day after your submission?
- Meocross, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4I have gotten more Entertainment from Veoh than this piece of crap boombox that they call Youtube.
- ansatsu29, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4@ WhiteHatTrick,
Are you referring to the Zeitgeist stuff?
Just asking. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+4WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!1 !11
- agbullet, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4It's sad knowing that some of the "omg censorship! omg conspiracy! ***** the corporations for lying to us" people actually mean it.
- VyRuZ, on 01/11/2009, -3/+7So it's really important for them to not be paid?
- WhiteHatTrick, on 01/11/2009, -2/+5Couldn't this possibly fall under some type of false advertising or something similar? I know it's a little different because they aren't selling it to us, but that doesn't just give them a free pass to lie all they want for profit does it? Wheres a nerdy lawyer when you need one.
- lukedamonkey, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3You guys know what's going to solve this problem?
Making angry comments on digg, without contacting google/youtube.
We should make a petition, send it over various boards, post it.
Protest! Stop using youtube if you really think you are offended as you say.
You can't buy from a bakery and bitch at it too. - uberduger, on 01/12/2009, -0/+3You see, the problem is that you used Michael Bublé. You shoulda gone with some good music, like Nickelback.
- nash88, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3@namtlade : It's stage6 brah!
Stage6 came way before Vimeo caught on. They offered DV quality streaming which YouTube and other could've dreamt of. They had like full length holllywood movies in there which made them rock! - DulcetTone, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4Who goes you youtube.com and does not immediately type in a search string? Is the mentality, "I want to watch SOMETHING... let's see what some corporate policy for promotion will offer!"
- KingGorilla, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3well Football in the groin had football in the groin
- namtlade, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4There was stage7 by divx, pretty sure that was before vimeo and it was HD too. Unfortunately that closed due to it being completely unprofitable for them. Not sure how vimeo is managing then.
- pHr34kY, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2redtube > pornotube
- omjeremy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2It's too bad Stage6 is gone... :(
- phatfiend, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2who gives a crap. everything on youtube is ***** anyway..
