- wonderboy, on 10/12/2007, -12/+323CONFIRMED! None of us have a chance to get it now.
- cbasst, on 10/12/2007, -20/+215Buried as inaccurate, because I really really do not want this to hit the front page...
- dan2, on 10/12/2007, -10/+122Dugg, If I'm not getting one no one here is.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+57Digg will see to it that those things sell out faster than the Britney Spears Fed-ex sex tape.
- GuyHersh, on 10/12/2007, -14/+59Damn... I knew all about this, and I was hoping it wouldn't get dugg, but nooooo, I did to have a slight chance to get one, and now I have little to no chance.
Well, I might as well make some money out of this deal. Who wants to bet amazon.com is gonna go down at about 1:55 EST next Thursday? - battlefield1985, on 10/12/2007, -11/+45Get this off the front page you crackhead!
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38i can't believe the 360 is beating barbie...
- xxrazor, on 10/12/2007, -11/+40i can see those people that got the PS3 for $2000+ weeping now
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33ENGAGE MACROS.
- impulsiveboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29You are all going to rue the day I didn't get my $30 bike.
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -14/+39By posting this on Digg, you've pretty much guaranteed that Amazon.com will sell out of these in about 90 seconds. Smooth move, Ex Lax.
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23I'll buy one just to play the $3.99 Burger King games.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -12/+32Stop bitching guys... this story was on the front page last week
- leontes, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23Seriously? Ninety seconds? More like 5 seconds. With a deal like this: during a time when people are off of work, out of school.. They'll be gone for all intents and purposes, immediately.
@frenchkick
Less then a second doesn't take into account the click delay factor to see, confirm and purchase. 5 seconds is far more likely. - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26No need to remind everyone though. Seriously, this will prob crash Amazon servers during Thanksgiving.
- Dugg2Death, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18It was meant as a joke (those of you digging me down) but even though amazon is a huge company I'll bet even they aren't prepared for the 2-3 million people hitting F5 every half second then having 4-5 million SMASH the add to cart button in .5 sec
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24Imagine when one of them goes over to their friends house who bought one of these for a hundred bucks, and actually sees that the picture and gameplay is miles ahead. Not saying they wont bash the 360 for some stupid reason, prob because it is white and the PS3 is awesome black or something inane like that, but they will weep inside, oh yes they will.
- shawnanigans, on 10/12/2007, -21/+31I bet K-Fed doesn't even need lube because he's so ***** greasy.
- GuyHersh, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Lmao.. $100 is for a 360 is waay more worth the money than a $250.
Don't get me wrong, Wii is good, but this deal outweighs it quite a bit.. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11You won't be getting the hard drive, component cables, ethernet cable, headset, or wireless controller since it's the core (read: crap) version... but even if you bought all of that it would still be about $100 less than the premium package... and you'd have two controllers (one wired, one wireless).
Of course... if you're only going to need one controller, don't care if it's wired, and won't be playing on Live... you could get by with just the hard drive (or even a memory card) and component cables... which means you're at or below the Wii price range. - mv10, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19No one will get one.. Amazon will crash because at least 20,000 people will be refreshing their page every second for 20 minutes.
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Your request will probably still go through 30,000 miles of intarweb tubeness.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+20YOU ***** IDIOT why would you post about that, there's only going to be 1,000 consoles available at that price and you decide to tell the world? SON OF A BITCH. how the hell are you benefitting form spreading this anyway?
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Only if you're a quick clicker.
(Fair warning: I'm a click quicker.) - stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -16/+23CONFIRMED!!
or
IT'S OFFICIAL!!
Ex:
http://digg.com/linux_unix/It_s_Official_Microsoft_to_Sue_Linux_Users
I don't know which digg headline text I'm more annoyed by. Kevin: How about making a filter to disallow "CONFIRMED" or "IT'S OFFICIAL" for headline submissions? And while you're at it, make a filter to only allow 1 exclamation mark per title. It this possible? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14LOL
- insomniac8400, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Checked with http://www.amazon.com/gp/holiday/cv/homepage/002-2034501-8102410 and found that this story is true guys.
- jperdomo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5***** AMAZON! Whats the point of offering a promotion that you are completely unable to handle demand for. If the whole point was to get consumers in the mindset of doing their Black Friday shopping a day early from home then you've failed. It's not the limited quantities, that's expected. Its that the fact that your whole damn site crashed. If get up early tomorrow and wait in line at 4am. The store is not going to disappear right when I try to go inside.
- Disparity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5IT'S CONFIRMED: AMAZON IS DEAD!
- originalG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That was a frickin joke! 5 minutes before the deal opened their site died. I couldn't even get to the site until 1:02, after which they were all sold out. Very bad job Amazon.
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7
CONFIRMED: Digg requires moderators/editors like in Slashdot. - foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -10/+14@ Xyleene,
you do know about the internet's 10% rule don't you?
basically, it's a theory (or law) that states that, out of all the people viewing content on the internet, only 10% interact with it (e.g., replies about it) . so, for every 1 person who interacts with something on the internet (in this case, "diggs" it), there are 10 other people who don't. i hope you can see where i'm going with this... ? hmmm... probably not. anyway, i'm willing to bet that, by the end of this topic's front page life, there will be AT LEAST 1500 people who dugg this. not to mention, i'm willing to bet everything i own--my house, my car, my dog, and even the hobo who lives in my basement--that digg.com isn't the ONLY site reporting this story. i have a feeling that there are at least a dozen other HIGHLY POPULAR websites, and hundreds of other much, much smaller sites who bring in at least 1000 viewers (dvorak.org/blog (just kidding), reporting this story.
... or is it the 1% rule, because that would be even worse!
please forgive me if i'm a bit inaccurate here, but you get the gist of it.
so, to sum it all up, you--and everybody else here on digg--definitely shouldn't even THINK about even TRYING to get one of these grossly OVERPRICED idiot boxes on november 25th at 12:01 p.m. on amazon.com. ;) - Kizzle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Amazon has bandwidth provided directly from God himself. The site won't even have a hiccup.
- hypoh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It was guaranteed to sell out within seconds even before it was posted up on Digg...
- LeFrenzy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I can already picture the Amazon IT guys crying.
- manatee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Give the XBox a 1 star rating and tell them your thoughts...
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Tell_Amazon_Your_Thoughts_About_Their_100_XBox_Promotion - Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9There is no doubt it will crash. Everything will seem perfect at around 11:00:01 am when everyone tries for it, then at 11:00:03, when everyone gets to the sign in page, EVERYTHING will stall and be worthless.
- hungryhermit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You aren't allowed to talk about God being real on digg.
- betona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, that experience sucked. They didn't have anywhere near the capacity to handle the load. I was figuring on all the rest of you guys not remembering it.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4CONFIRMED: This thread made me laugh.
- l337fanboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3so tell us why you posted again?
- duntuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2amazon servers suck ass... probably majority of the west coast where their servers are located got one... what a bunch of *****...
- MrDarkSim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3How can I slip ex-lax through the amazon interweb tubes?
- brianbennett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2...bummer, I had the atomic clock up thinking that would help me out but no such luck.
- badtz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm sure it wasn't digg.com who killed amazon.com, lol
- test5477, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2im buying mine from someone else. will not buy from amazon for awhile, this was a horrible experience
- jdubyah, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9They use a different system for these deals.
- kungPow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't see how this benefits Amazon or Microsoft. It costs $200,000 for the Xbox sale (1000 units, $200 off normal sale price). Plus the cost of the employees preparing for this (at least 10s of thousands). Then you have at least tens of thousands of pissed off people who don't get the xbox. You have the whole Amazon site down for almost a half hour. Which means they may have lost 100s of thousands more in sales, since no one could access or buy anything from them during that period.
Bad idea. Everyone loses. - jeremychoi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Refreshed 1 minute before 11am PST, and then loaded 3 minutes later with amazon saying "SOLD OUT AT THIS PRICE."
Damn. - photomikey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Eight minutes? Hell, it's 11:11 here, I can get the main amazon page to load, but the vote page still hasn't refreshed. Damn you all!
