- Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+99Does it preload the 15 youtube videos, 4 embedded mp3s, and all the glitter font too?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+65Yay! Now I can see more greasy-haired emo kids and attention whores than ever before!
- bunni, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43They're called guilds now.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38I can remember when social networking meant joining a gang. Ahhhh the good old days.
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+38Calling MySpace layouts "gay" doesn't insult MySpace nearly as much as it insults gay people.
- Cbeck527, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Downloaded, Installed, Uninstalled.
- Patented, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21The only way to improve Myspace with a firefox plugin, is via ADBLOCK!
Hooray Adblock! - WorldGroove, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19If someone wrote a plugin to hide all that.... all you'd see is a blank page. ;-)
- FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Browster, easily the most annoying plug-in ever, especially on MySpace, because everything is a link. It's impossible to do anything without a damn bolt appearing and something coming up.
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Am I the only one who thinks the Earth is round? That cheese is made from milk? That the sun is a mass of incandescent gas?
- randomgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Am I the only one that thinks that MySpace is the ugliest website ever? Between all the ads, blinking gif/flash garbage, music and huge pictures that break the formatting I find looking at any page on their entire "network" to be utterly painful.
That's not even taking into account the (lack of) content on most of the pages. I really cannot understand to popularity of something so terrible. I know that the whole Web 2.0 social thing is all the rage these days, but all the other sites that are doing that, like Digg for example, use Ajax and generally have clean easy to use interfaces. Hell even Slashdot updated their format so that it is nicer to look at. - WorldGroove, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Hmm... I thought pre-loaders were bad for taking up way too much bandwidth for high-traffic sites. That's the only reason I don't use 'em. Hope FOX can handle a bunch of kids loading up every link in every page they view.
- ChaosElement, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Perhaps if the people that run MySpace (and its users) knew the first thing about proper web design, stuff like this wouldn't be necessary. I myself prefer to take the easy way out by viewing MySpace as little as humanly possible.
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Browster looks pretty awesome, especially the way it cleans up MySpace pages, and completely strips out any hint of MySpace-ness... I can't wait to try it out, get annoyed by it's short-comings, uninstall it 15 minutes later, and begin hoping that someone creates a simple Firefox extension that does basically the same thing.
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Even better, install BlockSite and block MySpace altogether. Great for stopping friends and family from visiting MySpace on your machine. "Oh, gee, I don't know why it won't work on my computer, I must have a virus."
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3145/ - kstyron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I do that too. It's called "never".
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6MySpace can't handle the traffic that have now. It's so slow, you almost need a preloader for it. Having been bought by NewsCorp, and now with the huge cash infusion from Google, maybe they'll fix things up. A company that size should not have the bandwidth problems that they do.
- justice7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Will this plugin fix the craptastic layout and filter out self-pitying emo kids ?
- SP33DFR34K, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Queue the tube jokes.
- DoctaStooge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Install Gresemonkey. Then there are some scripts for that plugin which should help get rid of ads and almost anything else you want to get rid of.

...
SHARKS!! - MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Don't forget Flashblock, which keeps the stupid music from auto-downloading and auto-playing obnoxiously on every page.
- synthfx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8adblock? or opera with integrated block content?
- def1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Holy crap....I think your friend's page is exactly what he was talking about:
Flashing banner? Check.
Loud, annoying music? Check.
Picture of dude pissing? Check.
Point proven. - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Give up, no software can fix pop culture stupidity.
- catoutfit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4cue*
:) - br0ck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you use Firefox, install Stylish from http://userstyles.org/ and the myspace sanitizer from http://userstyles.org/style/show/185 and all profiles will revert to plain white background, black text, blue links and no video or flash.
- wfbnadador, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3actually it only applies to the page youre on, unless its been updated, you have to disable it on every page view
- mlandry, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11West Side
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8You forgot content in your list.
...Oh wait. There is none. - uttles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Something tells me this extension is going to absolutely demolish my memory usage. I use Firefox and I keep so many tabs open that I'm already pushing it.
Anybody got any usage reports/crash statistics? - Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3THERE IS A REASON WHY THERE IS A SPELL CHECK IN DIGG!
AND CAPS LOCK IS NOT CRUSE CONTROL FOR COOL!
my 0.02 - MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Your analysis of the software is far too in-depth. Comments for stories about bogus crapware like this should be limited to sarcasm, scorn, and succinct recommendations for viable, open-source alternatives.
- Darmichar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, open your hosts file and add the following line:
127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com - MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just opened a new Thingster account. Now, if I could just get it to sync with my iThing!
- jamesmorad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@def1
no im pretty sure its not something as ***** as myspace profiles along these lines:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=34082841
at least theres some general elegance and creativity to his profile compared to the rest of the users - lightandfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This sucks more than ass.
- justice7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can try spraying a pile of ***** with perfume
but its still a smelly pile of *****. - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What, Browster? Or myspace?
- CoAX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Alright. It (supposedly) makes MySpace easier to use. But does it make it prettier? That's the real question.
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not like Browster is made by MySpace. It's a third party, trying to make MySpace more legible, and load quicker. I applaud their efforts, even though their software is kind of lame.
- bigteebo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Forget the plugin linked. 2 greasemonkey extensions, and myspace is bearable. The first one is to turn off ALL the customizing on the page(but images are left intact). The other one turns off all automatic media(which is ultra-annoying).
Thus, myspace is browseable. - dunstdunst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://jukeshare.com
- liquidice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you know, if myspace weren't such a ***** website we wouldn't need tools like this. The developers of myspace need to get off their asses and fix the whole damn site, not make 3rd party users fix it through other means.
- MikeCerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If Web 2.0 is more than just a buzzword, then certainly one of its essential ingredients is clean design. MySpace is undoubtably one of the most poorly coded sites of its size and, as such, fails to meet the most essential criteria of Web 2.0. MySpace is more like a Web 1.0, social-networking site.
- Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1one of the resons that I dont use myspace
- webwidejosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the hosts file solution to MySpace. Cross-platform too!
- milener, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thanks, yes, we're working on a new way to avoid the accidental mouseovers. will come out in Sept.
- milener, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Using Browster won't cause memory issues. Browster has developed better memory mgmnt and caching than either IE or Firefox, which both have big memory usage / release issues. You will use less memory looing at pages in Browster than loading htem into and then closing tabs.
- zabouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There big problem with this software if you use a proxy server.
It changes your proxy settings to point to 127.0.0.1:8448 or something like that but i need to use proxy server on my ipcop box meaning that its useless. Plus i don't like the idea of running a proxy server on my PC -
