- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -12/+89That little diagram looks like it was scribbled by a 4 year old with down syndrome.
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42Now if Google would make a Free Cellphone service they would officially own the world.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38Will I be able to connect to Google TiSP with this? When's that due to come out anyway? I'm really looking forward to it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Search and Gmail? I have that on my current phone and it's not even the latest model. It's gotta have something more than that to convince me buy it.
- grimfandango, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24I'd love to know who you are. Seriously. I mean, WTF, do you live in an underground bunker? Nobody at Google gives a flying f**k who you are.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22It depends how much it costs. If they price it at $100 instead of the iPhones $500 then it doesn't need to be as good.
- econofast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Jiggle the handle.
- bwishey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Buried for needless use of the word "Breaking"... again.
- melbourne28, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23Once again, heresay and rumour mongering. There is about as much fact in that article as their is fact in the flat earth theory
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Agreed. It is however from a Google patent application.
- mickeyknoxxx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Girls will love it.
Now they can google some guys name from their google phone. - VANOS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I hate flip phones. They just NEVER feel well built, regardless of the brand. Second, wouldn't Google at least do *something* that is a bit different than every other crappy free phone out there.
- mrhahn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10But what's going to convince people to buy this phone rather than a Nokia, for example, for $90...
- inukki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8If you're sure that it's flat, prove it to me, i am that stupid and I got balls to bounce them around with . wt....f?
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I don't want a breaking Google phone....
- TomP, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Offtopic but... i've been experiencing alot of downtime with my TiSP anyone having the same problem?
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Saying something will launch in 07 isn't exactly breaking....but It's good to know. Google is the world's new savior.
- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They're also on record saying they're not interested in Office applications, stating search is their core business etc. etc. It obviously makes no sense to tell the world about your plans before launch, that's only going to help your competitors.
- SWiG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Has it even received FCC approval? Until it does, or Google confirms it, it doesn't exist
- unruled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5uhh, wasn't there an article on digg a few weeks ago that stated that google might be entering the SOFTWARE market for mobile phones... but that it didn't want to enter into the hardware cut-throat business for mobiles?
Im tired of these speculations.. we need an official statement. - WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I hate slide phones more. They never feel well built. My old ass LG VX6000 is still in great shape and its a flip phone. The best thing about flip phones is you don't have to worry about the screen getting scratched with your keys.
- Kailash.Nadh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5No integrated Adsense (inline: sms,mms,visual voicemail,documents,notes,calendar entries,presentations,business cards,contact book entires) ??
- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The phone will be free (to get and virtually free to use). That's my prediction anyway. It will boast (georeferenced) ads bringing in the revenue to share with the ISPs and Google won't get much of it themselves besides data mining voice and geolocation data to add to their IP pile. Not making anything from it is a good trade-off when you can show more of your money-splashing advertisers' budget and datamine along the way.
- rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Crosses fingers in hope they buy the analog tv spectrum and deploy free nationwide broadband/voice/tv services. Take that Telco and Cable! 411 is just the start, you're next!
- obijohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There are more facts in the Engadget article:
"The phones will feature Texas Instruments' 3G platform with EDGE and of course built-in G-Mail and Google Maps. Unfortunately, they will not be GPS enabled."
http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/18/google-phone-launching-end-of-2007/ - DaveClarkOne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Breaking: Google will be making its own toaster line...
- wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's another choice, buy one of the hundreds of other phones. There are many many phones.
- mswope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yawn...
That's just another "bar of soap" flip-phone.
Nice that it'll work with Orange. Here in the States - I hope it works with something other than ATT/Cingular... I can't believe that's going to be my only choice with the iPhone... - dilibau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3a Google phone ? hm... touchscreen, no keyboard, tilting sensors, Eric Schimdt inside Apple's board...sounds like....
- nsummy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like a startac with the words google on the screen
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i hope its not a flip phone like the one in the picture, if so , then i would say this is just another phone that runs some google services, but not an actual google phone
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3That's an equal employment opportunity policy for you.
- buffyoda, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Why would I want to get that when I can get the same thing at 7-11? And it's filled with candy.
- marnaq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Google has officially entered their wasting-money-on-useless-products phase.
- derekivey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Duplicate
- AkshayGenius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They can do it with any other phone too
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha Apple is about to get crushed in the handheld market.
- szembek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This sounds like BS. Don't all phones have to be 911 GPS enabled now in the US? And I doubt they would release their first phone exclusively in the UK.
- laserdog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3
I think the parent has a decent point.
Google is really good at collecting, sorting and archiving data.
The worry doesn't necessarily need to be personal.
What if a visionary leader for the country is dumb and 20 years old right now, he sends some stupid txt messages, and ten years from now, when he becomes notable, google might be in a position of great power, for just having archived everything from every service people have ever used through them. - Yareking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Iphone vs Gphone? An other great holy battle!
- gweedo767, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2My PocketPC based phone already is a "google phone". I have full google maps support, google mobile via Opera Mobile or IE Mobile and 800-GOOG411 by speed dial '9'. What exactly more do I need?
- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Check eBay for screen protectors for your phone. They are little pieces of clear plastic that stick to the screen, but are easily removable. Only a few dollars.
- BIGGY350z, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm actually 6 and it's not down syndrome, but I've got the runs.
- dennisbier, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm not so sure about the truth of this story....but if its true, it wont beat the iPhone. Darm Apple put so much effort into that phone that they delayed the thing i've been waiting for most (Leopard)!! In that sense, Apple pissed me off enough to look at Googles phone http://wetech.blogspot.com/2007/04/phony-leopard.html
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3But on my current phone I have to wait eons for the browser to launch and then navigate to a slow Web page. I'm hoping there would be integration to make this a seamless experience. I especially want to be able to sync my Gmail contacts with the phone, and specify within Gmail which contacts should be assigned to speed dial numbers.
- cmburns69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ZomZom - Integrating your email and phone contacts might have unforeseen consequences...
Speed dial #1 - 3nlarge Pen1s
Speed dial #2 - Ch3ap V1codin
Speed dial #3 - Hot l0cal sing1es in your ar3a
... - dsb101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1we are already in 2007?
- dvsbastard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It comes with a dedicated "I'm feeling lucky" button which automatically dials the nearest escort service...
- InstantABS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anyone from the Google team reading here? If not, they've probably missed the selling trick of the century. LOL.
- captaincoconut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lol, this is hilarious. I can't imagine what kind of idiot would waste his/her money on this.
