- bennop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It looks OK.
But something has to be really, really a lot better for anyone to change the way they access their email. Email is central to the online experience. Im not swapping just cause they give a few Gig more storage.
Unless it shakes the world, not much is doing . - RipperMortis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.bluetie.com/
- phatvolvo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4yeah, only the little guys like Yahoo are playing with PHP

Error establishing a database connection - christopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those wondering how they plan on making money on their free version (from the faq at http://www.bluetie.com/smb_content/products/btStandard_FAQ.php):
Why is it free?
BlueTie was started seven years ago with the vision of creating an alternative to costly 'big business' email and collaboration software. Over the years we have refined the product by constantly adding value and lowering costs. Now we are able to offer this revolutionary product at no cost because of an entirely new, patent-pending means of earning revenue without advertising.
How do you make money?
BlueTie's free solution integrates useful services from trusted partners to simplify everyday tasks. For example, when you schedule travel in your calendar, you would be asked by the application if you’d like to book travel now. If you choose to, you simply type in your travel preferences and you can see flights overlaid onto your calendar for the dates you want to fly. You choose the flight times and pricing from the options shown. We can securely store your credit card information so you can complete the purchase with a few clicks, or you may choose to enter it each time. Either way, once you’ve purchased your travel (including hotels and car rentals if you wish), your reservations will appear in your calendar along with a copy of your eTicket. The entire transaction takes place in your BlueTie account. You pay the same prices you would pay if you went out to the travel partner’s site, and they pay us a fee for each transaction. Of course, if you don’t want to use this feature you can simply ignore it.
During the next several months we will be adding additional business services like Search, Yellow Pages, VOIP calling, Fax, office supply purchasing and more. And you’ll never see an ad in BlueTie!
Who are your partners?
Our partners are the leading providers of small business products and services. They include companies like Orbitz, Constant Contact and eFax that offer high value business services that are relevant to the needs of our customers. - allyant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2:D The true power of ASP with ajax :)
- ohstoopid1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why isnt there any excellent email clients such as this in the open-source community? I know of Zimbra (bloated) and Roundcube (not as feature-rich). Am I missing a good one out there comparable to BlueTie?
- greggish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"BlueTie says that people spend an average of 4.6 hours on email every day, and many people spend far more time than that."
--That seems way too high a figure to me. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://duggmirror.com
- MoneyShot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, cool idea, but "patent-pending"? Come on... Referring people to a third-party service in exchange for a fee is hardly non-obvious. You simply can't take something that's been done for years and tack "on the Internet" to it's description claim it to be a new invention. This remains true even if you dress it up in "Web 2.0" fanfare.
BTW, eFax is hardly "high value", they are well known to be spammers. I'd recommend http://www.maxemail.com instead. - phatvolvo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and what about the open-source frameworks like symfony?
- simpsonmedia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Re: the loading wizard:
Try clearing your cache and refreshing the page. If that doesn't work, try hitting cancel on that window. You can configure any of those options in the user preferences area. - surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmm, not working for me. I'm stuck on a "Loading wizard... Please wait" page. Anyone else having this problem (WinXP, Firefox 2.0)
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's working for me on my work PC (WinXP Pro, Firefox 2.0)...
- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the problem is with Java. Looks like it is required, but not loading. I will look at it after I drink a few beers and watch some football!
Ff 2.0 isn't listed as a supported browser. - simpsonmedia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome service... Way more storage (5GB) than gmail, yahoo, etc., and the integration of the services is much smoother. The free package comes with email, contacts, calendar, and file management and supports 20 user 'enterprises'.
- ping1024, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0had the same problem..had to open it in Internet Explorer and agree to the Eula. then I was able to login in firefox.
- JRBlack10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Works fine for me on WinXP and FireFox 2.0 at 9:00 Eastern Time.
- jimmyrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fast and easy to set up. Great feedback from management team on the techcrunch posting.
- JRBlack10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is REAL nice! Start a "family" enterprise and share calendars across family members, share files across family members, contacts and such. It is clean. It is quick. Each member gets 5Gig.
Could also use this to connect and get mail from any other POP3 account. - jimmyrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Also make sure you have added BlueTie.com to your personal firewall. That could be causing the issues.
- jimmyrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0But it's not in exchange....read deeper
- jimmyrey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0nope it's up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Next time try reading what I said. I didn't say nobody was using php, I said the good open source developers aren't. They're writing/maintaining operating systems and software.
Hence crap like phpBB becomes a symbol of open source and php. : ) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Because the good open source developers aren't playing with php.
