- bsweeney1977, on 06/06/2008, -6/+259This is a big turn-off for me. It's like a political smear campaign. A product should be able to stand on the merits of it's own appeal to make headway in the market. If it has to resort to scare-tactics to make a niche for itself then my perception is that it's probably an inferior product that is having trouble competing. Basically they're saying "You should use our product because the competition is too scary, not because our product is the best one out there." I don't know, maybe I'm over-analyzing. Thoughts?

2.) None of my downloads ever contain spyware
3.) I don't need to troll websites looking for .torrent files
So therefore I'll stick with torrents thanks - badenglishihave, on 06/06/2008, -9/+165Political smear campaign? Scare tactics? Sounds like the "Mac vs. PC" commercials.
- dondara, on 06/07/2008, -1/+105It's another scam by the asshats that brought you myspacebar malware.
.torrent is the way. - stonebear, on 06/06/2008, -6/+90BitTorrent works great for me. "If it's not broken, don't fix it" is my motto. I know there is a lot of monied interests trying to break BitTorrent; they've got the big public trackers down to three now, and they are under duress. But, in my opinion, BitTorrent is ultimately unstoppable because it expresses the zeitgeist of our age, and denies that which is passing away. I cannot see that zeitgeist expressed Rhever, which seems to embrace a more-or-less old fashioned central distribution network.
- amanoj, on 06/06/2008, -13/+90Love the flash animations! Too damn funny.
BT forever!! FTW!!! - mellophone, on 06/07/2008, -1/+78The Rhever dude in the videos is a jackass.
- inactive, on 07/21/2008, -1/+67No, Luke, it's true. Really. You see, I met your mother on Tatooine back when I was a slave-child. In those days, I enjoyed pod racing for fun, and ironically, I had an aptitude for all things mechanical. Well, one thing led to another, and... Anyway, search your feelings. You know it to be true.
- albinoMithos, on 06/07/2008, -1/+64Does anybody else want to punch that Rhever douchebag when they hear him talk?
- Stormwern, on 06/07/2008, -1/+64Could be a fishing site for RIAA/MPAA, wouldn't suprise me one bit.
- DontGameDigg, on 06/07/2008, -1/+48Probably another pathetic attempt at a sting operation by the **AA. Stay the ***** away from it.
- Shadowgamers, on 06/07/2008, -0/+45Uhm. Brahm Cohen isn't a skater dude :[
"Unfortunately for Rhever, there is no Internet ‘buzz’ around their brand, people just aren’t taking about it"
Ironic no? Nice going TorrentFreak. - TheThirdLevel, on 06/07/2008, -0/+42I'm just a virgin. :(
- mrgodai, on 06/07/2008, -2/+43i would never use this pos after watching those ***** vids.
- spatty, on 06/07/2008, -0/+39id rather risk getting a virus than giving my credit card details to a stranger.
- 3Den, on 06/07/2008, -6/+45The first rule of USENET is
DO NOT TALK ABOUT USENET - brstilson, on 06/07/2008, -1/+39I don't like how they attack people directly. It's really unnecessary.
- shutaro, on 06/06/2008, -4/+41I don't know about that, I'd welcome more attack ads in advertising in general. I want Pepsi to tell me what Coke doesn't want me to know. Sure, they *say* they're refreshing...
- Tribis, on 06/07/2008, -21/+501. USENET
2. Cartoon commercials
3. ????
4. Profit - shutaro, on 06/06/2008, -0/+27That's... improbable!
- kawaiirobo, on 06/07/2008, -0/+27those are some sweet ctrl-c, ctrl-v skills.
- uncertainty, on 06/07/2008, -2/+26I don't understand what you want us to do with this. I'm not going to harass the guy, I just won't use his service.
- inactive, on 06/07/2008, -1/+25BitTorrent may not be 'broken' but it could be improved in certain ways. Initial seeding is a bitch. So are hit-and-runners.
- arjie, on 06/07/2008, -0/+24Yeah, he reminds me of a telemarketer.
From the Kazaa one:
- "Hi, I'm Rhever, the next generation in file shar-"
- "Buy Now!"
...
- "Like I was saying, I'm Rhever, the next generation in file sharing."
In the same ***** tone of voice. I felt this urge to bash his head in. - gavin422, on 06/07/2008, -0/+22Yeah, until they come up with a real protocol that allows decentralized file sharing, I won't be sold. Saying that their downloads come from a "dedicated server" was enough to turn me off.
- bunnyblues, on 06/07/2008, -0/+21Rhever will take the ship, rape us to death, and sew our skin into their clothing. And if we're very very lucky, they'll do it in that order.
You can't take the torrents from me. - darkamster07, on 06/07/2008, -1/+22anyone else think he was a pothead growing weed at first?
- inactive, on 06/07/2008, -2/+22Because Rapidshare isn't... usenet?
- JustinDevine, on 06/07/2008, -3/+23Don't fear the Rhever....
baby take my hand....
Sorry had to. - foltaggio, on 07/11/2008, -8/+27WhyTF would you want Vista?
- bagelmaster, on 06/07/2008, -3/+22Free music supported by ads. And no DRM on said free music.
- Versh, on 06/07/2008, -0/+19Judges?
8.5 7.0 8.0 9.0
We also would have accepted:
"Rhev and let die" Paul McCartney
"Torrent to torrent" David Bowie
"Take me to the Rhever" Talking Heads
... - lcmatt, on 06/06/2008, -5/+24Nice screenshot on the official website showing Ironman.DVDScr.XviD.PUKKA under the search. I'll stick to my free Virgin Media usenet access.
- mitchlourens, on 06/07/2008, -1/+19radio?
- darkamster07, on 06/07/2008, -2/+20so basically it's usenet? woulden't that be exact opposite of "next gen" filesharing? bittorrent is the future, the basic idea of user supported filesharing is the future. I can't really see how direct downloads could be safer, woulden't those servers be holding a lot of information on the individual user? also, don't you have to pay for a usenet subscription? BT is free.
- bunnyblues, on 06/07/2008, -0/+17Comment dug for word "douchewaffles"
- RoccoMcTaco, on 06/07/2008, -0/+17Regardless if they're tied to some industry, I don't like the sleazy approach.
The "Hey, I'm the cool down-to-earth easy going guy" vs "I'm the obsolete fumbling freak" advertising tactic is lame.
Some animations are partly funny but it faintly smells of something sinister. - Metalcard, on 06/07/2008, -1/+17Troll websites looking for torrents, ha! A simple TBP or Demonoid search finds me what I want first try.
- DataMouse, on 06/07/2008, -2/+17The horse and cart isn't broken - but I'm sure you don't use that to get to work (or are you Amish?)
If something better comes along, it's time to evolve.
I'm off to get my 8-track Bruce Springsteen out now... :-) - candre23, on 06/07/2008, -2/+17If you're concerned about RIAA / MPAA lawsuits, then Usenet is the way to go. Since you're not uploading anything, you can't get pinched for "distribution". Also, there is no way for a 3rd party to even know you're downloading anything.
That said, I wouldn't trust these Rhever douchewaffles for a second. Go with a generic, low-profile news server that supports secure connections and a good NZB search service like Newzbin. - inactive, on 06/07/2008, -0/+15Except it's usenet access. Just like the scammers who had the mininova.com address until they were forced to give it to the mininova.org guys. "For only $19.95/mo you can get easy access to faster downloads!" When you sign up: spyware and usenet.
- itcoll, on 06/06/2008, -3/+18thats impossible ........
- Xearis, on 06/07/2008, -0/+14http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piVnArp9ZE0
Would not be surprised that this turns out to be a trap, seemingly so well organized and just so happens to have EVERYTHING you want and nothing you don't...too convenient? - MarrowMan, on 06/07/2008, -1/+14This Rhever ***** looks dodgy
- mCanada, on 06/07/2008, -3/+16Buried for talk of usenet. There is no usenet. Don't ruin it.
- jgtg32a, on 06/07/2008, -2/+14I did
- carterx, on 06/07/2008, -1/+13Not sure where the "spyware/malware" comes from that Rhever seems so fit to keeps .torrent users from?? I have never had an issue with .torrents other than re-named or passworded torrents.
- john2kx, on 06/07/2008, -1/+13Sometimes I am afraid of Bittorrrent, but only because I'm used to the speed of newsgroups and rapidshare.
Otherwise, it's a nice fallback option to have. :) - punkcat, on 06/07/2008, -0/+11its strange, one i already dont trust it,
two i'm not even sure i understand its sharing without sharing. -
