- Trekhawk, on 11/07/2008, -20/+225Promises are cheap. How many of these will he follow through on?
- Sh0rtstak, on 11/07/2008, -13/+204net neutrality ftw
- Aguyinachair, on 11/08/2008, -10/+187It's nice to hear, but 2 pages for 5 items? Really?
- UnFriendlyFire, on 11/07/2008, -9/+88I would have thought Clinton would have backed Broadband Penetration.
- Shogi, on 11/08/2008, -5/+79Clinton has always been a fan of penetration.
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -5/+47I hope he is serious about that Broadband Penetration. It's about damn time we caught up with nations like Japan and Finland.
- scoottie, on 11/08/2008, -8/+49but Biden is no friend of net neutrality:
http://gizmodo.com/5041044/vp-candidate-biden-is-n ... - MarkusX, on 11/08/2008, -15/+56Net Neutrality - Absolutely necessary
Broadband penetration - "private sector" sucks at this. Greedy Corporations without a kick in the ass, will ALWAYS ONLY provide as much service as abso-*****-lutely necessary to gt the maximum profit. We need somebody like Obama who has the guts to stand against these giants and force them to make America look good again, instead of behind. Place 15 pfff! We deserve more, and... yes we can! - mphree, on 11/08/2008, -1/+35Good information, but very very poorly written.
- roxgod666, on 11/08/2008, -17/+50McCain said he doesn't use computers...do you think he would give a ***** about technology?
- bagboyrebel, on 11/08/2008, -3/+33Wall of Text attacks, critical hit.
- ajames01, on 11/08/2008, -11/+39What else does your crystal ball show you?
- EmailAddress, on 11/09/2008, -0/+281. Net neutrality
2. Broadband penetration
3. Wireless spectrum
4. H-1B visas and offshoring
5. Privacy - bluetytanium, on 11/08/2008, -23/+50I'll penetrate YOUR broadband.
with my penis. - palm9999, on 11/08/2008, -11/+35Thank God Barack Obama is on our side with net neutrality. I don't want AT&T (or anyone else) forcing their crap on me. And as for the other points...yay.
- tobikow, on 11/08/2008, -3/+24I'll vote for anyone that can help lower my ping in counter strike. living in the middle of nowhere with sucky internet, well... sucks.
- Shogi, on 11/08/2008, -15/+34Damn I'm happy he won.
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -10/+28We don't know about that, though.
- IpwnZnoobs, on 11/08/2008, -6/+23meanwhile McCain is learning how to reboot.
- Nightwish224, on 11/08/2008, -3/+20I just hope those promises become a reality.
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -6/+22Turn on his own running mate? Who do you think he is, Sarah Palin?
- protodon, on 11/08/2008, -1/+17Do vice presidents really have any say? They're just backup.
- McMaster88, on 11/08/2008, -3/+16I am going to Del Taco, I'm hungry.
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -3/+16Your problem with that is the huge landmass you cover with a very low population density compared to the likes of Japan. You should be able to get it into the metropolitan areas, but across the whole country is a no hitter.
- superspaldo707, on 11/09/2008, -0/+13My broadband has a virus...
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -2/+15WOW!...Obama's getting a real shake-down!..Obama better be up to the mark otherwise the expectations might just kill him
- KloroFormd, on 11/08/2008, -0/+11As long as they don't make it too low. I've been banned from a few Dallas servers for having a latency of 5. They think I'm rate hacking, and I run nothing but defaults. :/
- zmigliozzi, on 11/08/2008, -2/+12I don't think you fully understand what net neutrality is.
- system5y, on 11/08/2008, -0/+10holy *****!
- MarshalBanana, on 11/08/2008, -0/+10you better believe it.
- DarkShroud, on 11/09/2008, -0/+10That's what you get for making unsecure server connections.
- rdoger6424, on 11/08/2008, -4/+13MAYDAY, MAYDAY, SHE'S GONE ROGUE!
- iofthestorm, on 11/08/2008, -0/+9Yeah, what they didn't mention was that Obama will outlaw splitting tiny articles across multiple pages for ad impressions. They're trying to get their last ad impressions in while they can.
- PeppermintPig, on 11/09/2008, -1/+10Maybe he was just trying to name some random European country assuming people wouldn't know what their rates are?
- MrFunStuff, on 11/09/2008, -3/+12If Obama really cares about are Privacy he would repeal FIAS as soon as possible.
nuff said - lazyslacker, on 11/09/2008, -0/+8He didn't really condemn anything. you're reading negativity into what he said. What Trekhawk said can be called cautious at most.
- FasterGun, on 11/08/2008, -1/+9Well, he got half of that right. /joke
- KZodron, on 11/08/2008, -1/+9What? Finland's broadband infrastructure sucks. Copper cable and 50euro / month 1megabit connections ruling make them up to no comparison with countries like Japan or Sweden!
- PeppermintPig, on 11/09/2008, -1/+9If we can stop state municipalities from regulating competition from laying line, that would be a good start. It's all about the physical backbone.
- boonesfarm, on 11/09/2008, -4/+12He wants businesses to provide more bandwidth to more areas at no additional cost to you (or just make the rich cover that too). Sounds like an empty promise a populist would make to get elected... unless you want him to nationalize isps and take a service away from American businesses. As far as neutrality, I couldn't care less. As soon as my traffic is altered or directed, I select an alternate carrier. It could even create a new sector... AOL-like sponsored access for $5 a month... for people "who are hurtin'". In regards to privacy, that has been an evolving legislative issue for years.... before Obama entered the political ring way back in 2004. He can't honesty lay claim to it. And, maybe McCain had next to no concern for the internet community, but what makes you think Obama has great net-savvy? He had somebody help him compose an eclectic iTunes playlist for marketing purposes... what real tech wherewithal does he have?
- OrdinaryPanda, on 11/09/2008, -1/+9... and that's why I prefer him in the co-pilot position on this one.
- spiffyfitz, on 11/08/2008, -0/+8Tacos are ***** awesome. Just sayin'.
- spider-man, on 11/09/2008, -4/+12So this is going to be the response when Obama fails to deliver? McCain would have been worse. Can't get much lamer than that.
- DavidGX, on 11/09/2008, -1/+8No, not really.
He's totally against net neutrality among other things. - digitronix, on 11/09/2008, -2/+9"The irony is that if 'net neutrality' as lobbied by many of the PAC's, content providers, politicians and Slashdot/Digg users is legislated, then the FCC and other agencies will essentially be allowed to spy on all Internet traffic. In fact, the FCC - the same governmental organization charged with censoring media - would have to monitor every data bit in order to determine if any VoIP conversation had lower quality, if all email was routed the most efficiently, if any video had been tampered with by an ISP. Ad infinitum."

Unintended consequences. People typically don't think about them. Obama thinks it will keep the internet as free as possible. In fact, this legislation will achieve the exact opposite. - logandurand, on 11/09/2008, -1/+8I seem to recall him voting for that ...
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -2/+9I just hope he doesn't decide to censor the Internet and limit free speech. Remember he's not much different from Hillary, who wants to censor video games.
- brandospeed, on 11/08/2008, -5/+12I voted for ya bro, make me proud :D
- thermalcow, on 11/08/2008, -0/+6We'll find out in a year top's if he can follow through with these plans. I hope for the best....
- lacronicus, on 11/09/2008, -2/+8Wasn't RP anti-government involvement?
I hope you realize that net neutrality is a government regulation, something that the telcos do not want, and would not abide by if the government didn't enforce it. -
