- Nudar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14You have to click on Star Workstation in the article to see a picture of the mouse in question.

- ausfahrt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Dugg cause its interesting but where is the pic?!?!?!??!
- gfixler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I thought this was the actual first mouse:

- special4k4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Anyone else notice this: (Source: Wikipedia)
Not saying that Wikipedia isn't a great resource, but when it's your ONLY source for an article then I have to say the "pic or it didn't happen" comments (at the very least..) are justified. I'd love to see another source quoted in the article. - moft, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4likewise, i agree, but don't give the anti-bush movement a bad image
- interrelate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wait...according to my science teacher, Bill Gates made the mouse.
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2good artists borrow
great artists steal
:) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Picture of the ACTUAL first mouse:

from (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_mouse) - azathothx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Am i the only one to get a sick little thrill whenever i see an advert for a PC from this era being advertised as "Lightning Fast!!"
There's something about a 2Mhz processor that doesn't quite bring up the same sense of "awesome" as it used to... - BillDoor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Just because Apple themselves didn't make a two button mouse, doesn't mean that the Apple OS didn't support one. The Apple OS has supported a two button mouse for a very long time. The macintosh has always supported two button mices.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On the Wikipedia article that you have to click on (highlighted by the word "mouse" in the article)
Which leads me to conclude that this is just poor blogspam that has stuff taken from Wikipedia (as it says from the bottom)
so why did the OP post this...? - hotsoup99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3they already did. it's called the mighty mouse.
- phillydrifter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, supposedly the guy who designed it attended my alma mater, Drexel U. in philly, but they joked about how 'poor naming scheme,' they said he called it 'the x-y coordinate pointer'
I hate that school
half the teachers can't speak english
at $40k/year, i want to learn in english! - busta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would love to have professors that can speak english... unfortunately well spoken professors have a future outside of research & teaching so they don't stick around =P
- Phyrefly, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Waiting for mac fanboys to argue that Steve Jobs shat a mouse way before 1981...
- DrunkenDevil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Looks like a Fisher-Price toy.
- justnick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2pic or it didn't happen
- PhantomBantam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Wait. It can run XP?
- anog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder how many people expected to see Steve Jobs and a colourful bitten apple... :-)
- Robotsu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Some will argue that the Xerox Star wasn't actually a "Personal Computer" because it was never intended to be a widespread consumer device in every American home. Er, well yeah.. I guess that is -me- making that argument.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1two fingers on the trackpad + click = right click
- the311neo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Go watch "Pirates of the Silicon Valley" sometime and you will see a "little" blurb on this little item that 97% of us have in our sweaty little palms right now...(great flick by the way)
- kidcodea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3NOOOOOOOO!!! CRUEL!
for mac users this is like telling a child that santa doesnt really exist. - iChuckles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nah. But he was responsible in bringing it to the masses.
- amowls, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pix or it doesn't exist.
- yenster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's a link to a really amazing demonstration he did back in 1968 with a system that incorporated most of the features I mentioned above:
http://sloan.stanford.edu/mousesite/1968Demo.html - bigblacksabbath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um... Douglas Engelbart made the mouse back in 1964 back at SRI. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_mouse
- yenster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep. He also developed hypertext, bitmapped screens, groupware, the GUI, a "chorded" keyboard (never caught on, but a couple of companies tried to market the concept back in the 80's), and ARPANET. All for the the same system.
The whole deal about "Apple stole Xerox's ideas!" is just so lame. Xerox stole its ideas from Engelbart.
And since most of his work was funded by the taxpayers (he did his most impressive stuff under contract for the U.S Air Force), it all ought to be completely public domain and patent-free, and used against idiots like Amazon with their "one-click shopping" patent. "So, your patent depends on clicking a hyperlink? Sorry, but the U.S. taxpayer owns the hyperlink technology plus the mouse." - phmfthacim, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I sure hope so... XP IS THE BEST
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Although I agree, I don't agree with you spamming articles
- actorboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Most of you guys are too young to remember the the Group Computer Mouse, but I can tell you as someone there, this thing was a godsend when it hit the market.
- joeydoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1errrrr. I don't want to ***** Bush...... I will however ***** bush.
- Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1What, no love for the trackball? I know it isn't a mouse per se, but neither is the Wii-mote they have pictured. ;p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The same year I was born in! I knew it was a sign. I was destined to be a computer nerd...forever.
- TheTrueAPlus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Thats something cool to know about my birthday - only five years later I was born.
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -2/+1Pic or it didn't happen.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Besides no pic on the articles page, Dugg down for broken browser back button.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Ew, who would?
- pidge, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Its funny that the first mouse is still more advanced than Apple's mouse. How long will it take before Apple finally adds a 2nd mouse button to their mice? Especially notebooks.

What is Digg?
