Amazon recommends WHAT? [PIC]
i43.photobucket.com — Let me be honest, I don't think you should listen to what Amazon has to say anymore after this one...
- 6107 diggs
- digg it
- JesusDeluxe, on 10/10/2007, -14/+521haha, i was expecting a sex toy. but yea, do it
- scullyshouse, on 10/10/2007, -12/+215amazon normally seems to be right, so i think you should kill yourself dude
- Yez70, on 10/12/2007, -9/+169Considering he still uses Hotmail - I agree.
- Arramol, on 10/10/2007, -3/+112Not to mention the e-mail a couple of lines down indicating he uses MySpace. That's a sure sign your life is going down the tubes.
- potterboy, on 10/10/2007, -31/+2and he isn't using Live Mail.
- ICSU, on 10/10/2007, -10/+8What tubes?
- trappleton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Dugg up for Carlin reference that folks sadly aren't getting.
- Yez70, on 10/12/2007, -9/+169Considering he still uses Hotmail - I agree.
- gn0stik, on 10/10/2007, -1/+77What was the full title of the book it was recommending? And how did it come to the conclusion you would like that book?
- dagger89, on 10/10/2007, -2/+56I'm guessing Chuck Klosterman's "Killing Yourself to Live"
- R2Bacca, on 10/10/2007, -80/+7You're not guessing. You probably just looked that up. Don't act like you're smart or something.
- LordVance, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20How have you seriously NOT read that yet?
- EricSchC1, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41'You're not guessing. You probably just looked that up. Don't act like you're smart or something."
Yeah, 'cause no one on Digg reads, right? /sarcasm
Just because you don't read, doesn't make the rest of us illiterate clods. Buried for unwarranted *****-talking. - dagger89, on 10/10/2007, -2/+34No, I actually own the book, along with Fargo Rock City, and Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs.
- nitramlliw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Fail.
- ZipZapZorp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm with Dagger on this one. Also, "Killing yourself To Live" is an amazing book, which everyone who likes pop culture should read.
- R2Bacca, on 10/10/2007, -80/+7You're not guessing. You probably just looked that up. Don't act like you're smart or something.
- MicroBerto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yep. Buried as lame, because Amazon is actually doing this person a favor by recommending one hell of a good book.
- dagger89, on 10/10/2007, -2/+56I'm guessing Chuck Klosterman's "Killing Yourself to Live"
- trump48257, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13MMM....yes the Dora the Explorer Aquapet. If you haven't heard of that phallic masterpiece you should look it up.

- demizer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9I wonder what the ratio is on people who thought it would be a sex related item. I thought it would be a dildo myself.
- demodawid, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3An hero?
- xkorbin, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0I was suspecting Amazon to recommend something like lingerie to a man, but, you never know.
- HOMEsplice, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2me too
- slicedoranges, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Can no one spell the word "yeah"?
- lotrgamemast, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yer, of course we can
- scullyshouse, on 10/10/2007, -12/+215amazon normally seems to be right, so i think you should kill yourself dude
- MikeonTV, on 10/25/2007, -37/+1441For not switching to Gmail. Yeah you should.
- homerj14, on 10/10/2007, -13/+141you should also add that he's canadian and has a myspace :D
I kid about the canadian part though- ataylor32, on 10/10/2007, -31/+4I doubt he actually has MySpace. I get MySpace spam every now and then
- abandonedhero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12*She* does have a MySpace.
http://myspace.com/online_angelica- Audacitor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I can't wait for the digg effect to hit that thing.
- firebhaal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4u cant digg effect myspace dummy
- dawesdust12, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1It's already too slow. Digg Effecting Myspace is like trying to kill a dead horse.
- Dylson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Your mom killed a dead horse.
- oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Accidently dugg you up. Whoops.
- abandonedhero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12*She* does have a MySpace.
- Indy16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+52I presume it's a 'she'. Unless there's a guy with the Photobucket username "Online_Angelica".
- thrallie, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18It's called PORN. :P
- pikpikcarrotmon, on 10/10/2007, -7/+49There are no girls on the internet.

- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Dugg. XKCD is a great webcomic.
- Renton, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3This photo has been floating around for a while. I doubt it's the same person.
- GeorgeCostanza, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Aww, is someone bitter because their country's dollar sucks compared to Canada's? (Yes, americans, i'm looking at "y'all")
- pilot3033, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Aww, is someone's panties all up in a bunch because their dollar being worth more than the American Dollar is actually WORSE for their economy?
- pilot3033, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Aww, is someone's panties all up in a bunch because their dollar being worth more than the American Dollar is actually WORSE for their economy?

- WilsonMD, on 10/10/2007, -14/+46Yeah, being Canadian like the 4th thing wrong with him anyway.
- Ford_Prefect2nd, on 10/10/2007, -11/+32Yes being Canadian sucks, all those terrible social programs helping people out. All that natural environment, that lack of murders, the universal health-care. Man, so backwards... oh wait.
- worstcomment, on 10/10/2007, -15/+11Not to mention our weed kicks the ***** out of anyone's in the US.
Blow me Americans.
Come talk to me when your dollar isn't in the gutter and your economy gets its ***** together.- MrPig, on 10/10/2007, -16/+5You're an idiot. You want the US Dollar to be stronger than you're dollar.. this makes your products more expensive and as America is your biggest trading partner you're screwed. Get used to it. Free healthcare sucks for those with any money because there are HUGE waiting lists so stop gloating and being smug, grow a brain and some balls, and get the ***** off Digg.
Sorry, I'm really pissed off right now. - krakhed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6As an American who has spent a great deal of time in Canada I can say the weed I get in Oregon is better than B.C. sorry. B.C. weed is good but the strains that come out of Eugene and Portland are far superior to the stuff I can find in B.C. THe health care is good though.
- cphoover, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4He's canadian, but we should take your advice on their healthcare system...
people in the us have to choose when they are sick enough to goto the doctors, because they dont have enough money, that is just wrong.
the only thing i would disagree with was the weed comment, prolly more expensive but the ***** i gots rediculous. - cphoover, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0He's canadian, but we should take your advice on their healthcare system...

- Baltoche, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0If you want good health care and excellent weed and a strong currency come to Europe
- GeorgeCostanza, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Don't forget the fact that the Canadian Dollar owns you stupid patriots.
- xike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The extra tax on CD-R's and iPods because anyone who uses those must be stealing music...
- worstcomment, on 10/10/2007, -15/+11Not to mention our weed kicks the ***** out of anyone's in the US.
- patik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That joke taken from the Flavor Flav Roast, no less...
- Ford_Prefect2nd, on 10/10/2007, -11/+32Yes being Canadian sucks, all those terrible social programs helping people out. All that natural environment, that lack of murders, the universal health-care. Man, so backwards... oh wait.
- mcduckov, on 10/10/2007, -3/+71I work with datasets that include emails from a LOT of people aged 18-24 and hotmail is the email address I see most frequently. it is actually quite rare, comparatively, to see gmail.com. And we're not solicitors, they come to us so it is not likely they are giving us "throw away" accounts. These are their real everyday email addresses.
It puzzles me. Hotmail? Why Hotmail?- jeffchuck, on 10/10/2007, -2/+67Remember ten years ago when Hotmail was pretty much synonymous with email for most people? It's still the same way. It's easy to forget that the typical Digg user is nothing like the typical internet user.
- zmjone2992, on 10/10/2007, -2/+57we are way more awesome
- hiro, on 10/10/2007, -15/+1... and yet it's still full of naive noobs using Gmail, we'll laugh at them in 2 years as well!
- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1So what is this 'OiNK of e-mail services' that you use, oh sophisticated internet haxx0r?
- EzarKun, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1Dont you need a Hotmail account for xbox live anyways.?
- juicys, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19no
- MellerTime, on 10/10/2007, -5/+30Probably just because it's the oldest free online email service. EVERYONE has heard of Hotmail at some point. GMail's just too trendy.
- zabaf, on 10/10/2007, -9/+24MSN Messenger
- HHP2K, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21You can use msn with a gMail account.
- ThreeDee912, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8gTalk
- luchid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Dude.. get rid of hotmail... Just get a gmail account and log onto www.passport.net to cread a passport account (for msn messenger) tied to the gmail account.
- buyvalve, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I think what zabaf meant is that so many people have hotmail because it's the default for a MSN Messenger account.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2people dont read the use with another email button
I did
if you mix psi+gtalk+msngateway you = gtalk and msn together with no problem
- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I guess I'm doing it wrong. I just use different Gmail addresses for different things, some are throw-aways and some are for real site registrations (e.g. Digg). For friends and family, I keep my ISP address.
- MaxPayne3476, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Hotmail works great for me. I've had it since the 90s, and as far as free email goes, I have very little to complain about. Plus, paired with Microsoft Entourage, it's a match made in heaven.
- jeffchuck, on 10/10/2007, -2/+67Remember ten years ago when Hotmail was pretty much synonymous with email for most people? It's still the same way. It's easy to forget that the typical Digg user is nothing like the typical internet user.
- dusanmal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26I keep Gmail for "close friends and relatives", while I keep Hotmail as a lightning rod for spam and such (various online accounts, etc.). I read only what I know I have requested on Hotmail and I suspect the author does something similar as my Hotmail content approximates his... unread junk. Kind of poetic justice for MS service... keeping my spam safe :)
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Hm, I just use Gmail for everything. Since signing up shortly after the service started, I think I've had two spam messages hit my inbox. Their filtering is amazing - as well it should be, when they can base their filtering algorithms off of about a hundred trillion messages.
- xMotu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I use gmail for everything. Gmail's spam filter IS amazing.
- Rukaribe, on 10/10/2007, -5/+28At least update your Hotmail to Windows Live Hotmail...
- luchid, on 10/10/2007, -10/+5Cause the "new" version is so much more awesome ...
/sarcasm- potterboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Is it!
- Ellord, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think you got your words the wrong way around.
- Rukaribe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1No, it doesn't compare to Gmail. But it is much better than the original Hotmail, that is why I used the words "At least" and ended with an elipse.
- silencerar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I still have a hotmail account for spam and stuff like that (my official account is a gmail's one), and didn't make the change to Windows Live Hotmail, because I still use 800x600 in one of my computers.
- luchid, on 10/10/2007, -10/+5Cause the "new" version is so much more awesome ...
- QurrUm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+34You do realize that most people (me included) use things like GMail for their primary, private accounts, and then use Hotmail or Yahoo for site registrations, surveys, etc. Right?
- jonshipman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5did you realize you can create aliases in gmail?
- WhereAmI, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Why ruin gmails good name?
- Atomic1fire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2you do realize that gmail has a power spam blocker anyway
so you could use it for both - eatbeefjerky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You could always use this great thing called dodgeit.com. It's great.
- fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You do realise that most people actually use Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail, and that far, far, far, far, far fewer people use Gmail. If someone's using free web mail there's about a 1% chance it's @gmail.com.
- jonshipman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5did you realize you can create aliases in gmail?
- BHSPitMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I've never seen a Digg comment dugg up so much. (1041 as of writing)

Yeah I said it!. What?! I'm Rick James Bitch! What? - SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1holy *****, i think you must have just broke some kind of 'Article to Comments" Digg ratio record.
But yeah, i HAVE a gmail account, but i NEVER give it out or use it on the web. ever. 99% of my mail goes through hotmail. cause i'd rather MS had to pay for all that storage of spam and *****.
- homerj14, on 10/10/2007, -13/+141you should also add that he's canadian and has a myspace :D

- davidwasman, on 10/20/2007, -107/+14for f*cks sake...MORE 5 year old re-hashes? Enough already. We get it. You're new to this whole internets phenomenon. Good for you.
Digg is now as bad as 4chan AND my grandmother's forwarded emails put together.- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -7/+34Uhh, the whole Live Hotmail beta has only been around for about a year.
- suprchunk, on 10/10/2007, -15/+4False. I have had it for at least 3.
- EdgarVerona, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27I'm confused then... why do you remain here if you truly feel that way? So you can complain about it to an audience?
No offense, but if you don't like it you can always cruise to a different site... or even make your own. No one's twisting your arm to be here. I agree that things have changed a lot here, but most of the articles are still at least entertaining so I stick around.- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -16/+2That's a great attitude. Just let it happen. Nothing wrong can come of it, right?
(*see also: Bush and american apathy)- EricSchC1, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Overreact much, do we? Comparing this article and comment thread to the current state of world politics and social affairs is a bit over the top, don't you think?
- winsall, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I buried your comment for one reason - "Bush and American apathy" doesn't fall under "WORLD POLITICS". I'm sorry, but here in Australia, we couldn't give a damn about America.

- Burrito, on 10/10/2007, -4/+44Since you've seen everything on the Internet, maybe you should turn the computer off and go outside.
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -17/+3I'm an invalid and cannot go outside. But hey--thanks for assuming.
- pseudologue, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Even invalids can be assholes. And hey, you win that round.
- jcaino, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13and invalids can go outside. you know that stephen hawking guy...?
- EricSchC1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Your status as an invalid doesn't give you credence to be a bitter, *****-talking web-elitist. Not everyone's been around the block as many times as you have.
- WhereAmI, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Breaking rules 1 and 2? He's obviously new to this.

- Plant11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Just finished reading that. For those who havent read it; Klosterman travelled around the country in his car, which he called 'Tauntaun', visiting famous rock and roll death sites. Its a hilarous read at the very least. The part with the waitress discussing literature is awesome.
- OnlyShawn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1whew...glad we cleared THAT up. I was going to suggest some sort of investigation.

- FreakyT, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9You can tell it's Windows by the buttons on the page, which I'm pretty sure are from Internet Explorer. (And also the font rendering, which is how Windows renders Tahoma with Cleartype off) Though, of course, one can never be truly certain about such things.

- CyberSteve, on 10/22/2007, -1/+7only a digg member could recite that from memory...
- pkfx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I actually prefer Standard font smoothing over ClearType. ClearType makes small text look blurry, but I think small text is easier to read when it's really sharp and high-contrast. And I don't like colorful sub-pixel smoothing either.
- sickanimations, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2That should be enabled by default.
- NotShorty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It is in Vista because of the prevalence of LCDs these days. XP users who aren't familiar with ClearType can check the following out, eh?
