According to these lawyers, if someone steals a copy of Vista off your front porch, you are at fault and libel because you made it available to thieves. That doesn't make any sense to normal people. Only lawyers.

    The games company was not deprived of their ***** pinball game, they still have it; not that they'll make much money out of actually selling it.
    Who would buy it if there was no option to download from a website not licenced to distribute it?

It ought to be that way because no-one in their right mind will actually buy it; unless of course they think that Dream Pinball really is a contender against Starcraft 2.

If the client had a wireless network he could argue that someone might have hacked into the network and started downloading or that someone else was using his computer.

  • inactive, on 08/26/2008, -3/+2If you're downloading games illegally, there is a chance that you do, in fact, have some knowledge of copyright laws, and how you are running the risk of having to pay compensation. That said, companies have been known to use bully tactics on single targets, trying to make them cave in under the pressure. A lawyer can act as a mediator as well here, bringing the issue to a compromise.
