- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24This is just China trying to keep their citizens from getting information....ohhh you addicted to that evil internet, you stay away from there...you go make silly trinket to sell to american now.
- rejoined, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22How am I addicted to the net? I'm on it only 16 hours a day.
The rest of the time I surf porn. - Gadren, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24Since when is being online 24/7 a bad thing? O_o
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18that'll work for the chinese, but what do we do about the Japanese?
- holycrapitsed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17nymphomaniac hot girlfriend.
- Leach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16"psychological tests and evaluations" implies severe beatings. The Chinese can call it whatever they like.
- TheSexyGeek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Will there be porn?
- 11Heather, on 10/10/2007, -7/+19Someone explain this one to me: Here in Sydney many internet cafe's are packed with Chinese guys. Most Chinese guys also smoke. The girls don't do much of either.
- rejoined, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13The girls don't do much of what either? put out? get laid? work?
- Slotsky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12When your one of the chinese kids who makes the news for dying from playing World of Warcraft for 36 hours straight, it is a bad thing. lol
- luke16, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11explain why they are packed with chinese guys or why they smoke and girls dont? ehhhhhh
- harvinator24, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Meatspin.com the answer to any internet addiction.
- grazie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I found the cure. I got a job working on it.
- Gatesophile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I love you.
- -Jaguar-, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Can I still be cured even if I don't suffer from "depression, fear, unwillingness to interact with others, panic and agitation"?
- q1006662, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6"Internet-related deaths"?
- 3tcp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Double-post until they get pissed and leave.
- silvercrescent, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5OMG! I now realize that I am addicted too. I Need to join the camp!!! Can I sign up to the online version of the camp program?
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4Chinese smoking is probably just a habit picked up from their home country (not to say Australian's don't smoke, but they smoke a hell of a lot in China). A lot of Chinese are international students, so they could be using Internet to talk to their parents back home if they haven't got access wherever they stay. A lot of them also play a lot of mutliplayer games..
What are you actually trying to ask? Draw a correlation between Chinese males who smoke and use the Internet and females who don't do smoke or use the Internet a lot? - Chandon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Bah! If you can be driven off the web by shock sites, you're not even a legit *user*, much less addict.
Now go to http://www.gnaa.us/ and click the "members" link. - mgagne, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4For your convenience, the subscription to this cure can be made online.
- Kugo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No. They just sit around all day smoking a lot. Just like before but without the Internet.
- MonkeyFit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4pownce sucks
- juicebag, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3We all do.
- wassim2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Imagine if China actually allowed Internet users to access 100% of content?
- movd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3BATTLE ROYALE !!!!!!!!!
- 1337zork, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3ive got a girlfriend. yet i am a bit addicted :(
- thedrx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think the joke is: Gatesophile would love imjustabill because he's a Bill, and therefore is a Gatesophile's sexual obsession.
Or is it just me and I'm just digging too hard into a simple love? - Jade10145, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Internet cafes in China seem to compare to crack houses in the states, a place where addicts can get there fix and stay there..
I have a friend who went to China and he said the internet is terribly slow there, I am assuming because of all the firewalling and restrictions. I dont know how you could get addicted to the internet when its moving at a snails pace? If I had to go back to 56K days I think I wouldn't even bother using the internet. - Lowrads, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The secret is "the comfy chair." My only saving virtue is that I don't play PVE games.
I have a problem. Well played, internets. - 3tcp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2When you live in China and the internet is filled with counter-revolutionary material.
- willcoll, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Its in every country. When something appears to be a threat to the sheeple mentality, its dangerous and addictive in the eyes of government. Anything that can change the perception of people away from the gov't programmed ideology needs to be treated. Its the same with drugs, mainly cannabis.
- JohnnyXmas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why do I have the feeling that the Chinese government has declared these people Internet addicts, without giving them the benefit of a review or trial?
- Rekutyn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I think there's a point for any "internet professional" where it just becomes too much like work to be at home all day surfing. So once 5pm rolls around the net goes off and we all head down to REI for the rock climb.
- dstz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Addiction to information is a bad thing in China. Better watch TV.
- colto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah buddy, that's what they all say.
- 4eloBek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1...and your arse will be a good addition for the gergians in that camp...
- DiggUmFrog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1you gonna get the clap.
- littleodie914, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I remember reading a while back about some guy who was in one of those 24/7 internet cafe's participating in a SC tournament or something, and he did indeed die, I think from sleep deprivation/malnourishment.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Except you'll likely get beaten in these "camps". I mean this is an "internet camp"... that is a "re-education camp". With the reputation of China's 're-education camps" to go by which are notorious for its cruelty, China's "internet reeducation camps" are probably just as bad.
This comes after China recently blamed the Internet for most youth crime, claiming that the internet somehow corrupts people and influences them into going into a lawless rampage, tempting them to rob a bank or randomly stab people. Their English version is much more tame of course. Here's the English one via Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/internetNews/idUSPEK919620070419 - snowball69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm sure someone is confusing "addiction" with "habituation" here but hey, since when has an accurate medical diagnosis ever stood in the way of totalitarian governments declaring potential troublemakers as sick or loony?
- jason469, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If you're on digg....you might be addicted.
If you use LMFAO, OMFG, and ZOMG while speaking to your co-workers....you might be addicted.
If you look forward to new LOLCATZ....you might be addicted. If you have more friends in your Guild group than you do in real life....you might be addicted.
If you see a preview of a new movie and think "hmm..TPB might have it".....you might be addicted.
If you understood most of what I said above.....you might be addicted. - Amentina202, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That may be the most unflattering picture of any man, ever.
- Valnar300, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The cure, IE?
- Gatesophile, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think the joke is that I thought the Cure thing was really funny, and I laughed so much I fell in love. But in hindsight, I like your explanation better. So we'll go with that.
imjustabill, I am sexually obsessed with you. - cloudyprison, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nah, doesn't work. I tried that and now she's got a 61 shammie.
