You've obviously never seen any 2 pass On2 VP6 encoded FLVs. They can look DAMN good. It all comes down to the encoder though. There are plenty of free encoders out there that do an okay job (ffmpeg for example), but the really good ones cost money.
Check out some of the 2 pass 700k demos and you'll see they look pretty darn nice

Most sites that do automated encoding of files you upload most likely use ffmpeg unless they've licensed some technology from On2 (IMHO the best flash encoder right now) or someone else. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Hey, that Perry Wu guy has great hair!

- rwmacdonald, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I hate the lack of standards when it comes to Flash video players. Some players will continue loading the video if you pause it, some won't. Some will let you skip parts of the video by clicking on the position bar, others won't, and some just spaz out.. and why not make it dead-simple to save these videos on your machine, by clicking on a 'Save' button?

2) BitGroups : YahooGroups like Forum software without server.
Take the tottent trackers to the next level, make them website indepedent by having a GUID for each BitItem, ie. once u have the BitGUID the tracker can be anywhere on Net n number of times.
All open source please as these are not my ideas, i hope u do it first.
