- LastDinosaur, on 10/12/2007, -3/+80I've begun getting this crap constantly. Now no matter where I run I can never escape the crushing reality of my tiny penis and my eternal desire to enlarge it with homeopathic pharmaceuticals and stretching regimen!

I'm abusing the reply system, yes; but the closer the mirror is to the top, the better. - 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Some guy in Nigeria wants to give me $1,000,000 and all I have to do is give him my bank account number...
- jasper976, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16me too, i just thought i was hot *****, damn it
- AndreGerber, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Well, I keep on getting messages about Brazilian girls who want to either have sex with me or about me wanting to have sex with them.
I just block every user that sends me those things. - bram, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13My friend did it and he got his check from Bill Gates in 3 to 5 business days.
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9what if you want messages from your friends. Aparently you don't have any.
- whiskeyclone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I know it's not all that important (other than to make the severity of the problem look worse) but did anyone else spot that the image on the flickr account is 'fake'?
Check out the pixel arrangements around the bottom two dates - they are identical to the onces around the top two - clearly a copy/paste job done there. No I'm not a nut-job - go look at it for yourself. (edit: also, the bottom subject line looks cloned from the second one down)
Ethically, its similar to the thing that Reuters did with plumes of smoke photoshop a month or two ago - albeit on a much smaller scale. Still 'enhancing' images to make a problem look worse than it actually is, just isn't good journalism, and hinders the integrity of the writer, which could have the opposite effects than they intended.
YouTube spam is a problem, and something that needs to be looked at - but there was no need for the writer to go changing the dates on the inbox to make it look like they commonly get 5 messages a day - when in fact on the 12th they got 3 - and present that as fact.
And if you are going to fake it, at least have the sense to do it well... - sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I was about to comment, but LastDinosaur just blew my mind :D
- iDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Some chick thinks that one of my videos is "pretty cool", and wants to "know more". Then she gives an address that redirects to a crappy "find friends" website.
Cyber-bit*h ! - evilpig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yeah. I've been getting a lot and it's pissing me off.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7They spam from different accounts.
- city17, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11the following sites constantly spam youtube and just about every other social sites and make millions off of it (i know someone who works there):
www.ittakes2.com
www.place4fiends.com
www.friendorama.com
(all owned by the same company, go figure) - carnytrash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I've had about 30 or 40 of these- NAO PERCAM, AMATEUR BRAZILIAN GIRLS, HOT SEX SITE.
It's seems to be getting worse. YouTube needs a "report spam" button in the received messages window. - tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5YouTube should have a REPORT THIS ACCOUNT. That would work for both the PM spams, and the viral video crap from SONY, Wendys, and many other sources.
- MarkCiccone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I've been getting these things for days now, they're so annoying and Gmail keeps notifying me of them.

Put your friends e-mail on a whitelist so their messages get through to you. - upsidedork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It would be nice if YouTube had an option to check that said, "Only users whom I have added as friends can send me messages." You wouldn't be able to get messages from strangers, but some people (like me) prefer it that way.
Or maybe a limit -- users can only send 30 messages in an hour, for example. Enough that a normal user wouldn't notice, but a spammer would find it impractical.
A CAPTCHA might help, too. And a "Flag this account" button. I wonder why they don't already have those features. - JanusAmon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, I keep getting HOT SEX SITE and HOT BRAZILLIAN GIRLS. It's really starting to piss me off, the wankers...
- barrettg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Direct link To image:
http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=321311211&size=o - mrmatchgame, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I get the same things,
Hot Sluts
Big ASS, Big Tit Women
House wives wanting sex
Etc.
I got 15!!! 15 this week alone and its only Thursday.
WTF!!!!
Spammers should die suffocating from their own spam!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3seems like Wordpress haven't waked up from recent digg effects ...
They are still down by this one too .... - SteelChicken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2+ 11ty billion
Youtube should know better.
Should allow for "only mail from friends"
and "NO messages at all"
I just want to post a video now and then, not get 10 emails day about hot brazilians. - Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2HOT SEX SITE is the one I keep getting like a lot now.
- WUThad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I got 3 emails in a row yesterday, all from different usernames...but they were all 30 year old dudes from Afghanistan...that seemed to like the Brazilian Ladies.
I blocked all of the different users, but who knows how many accounts they create before Youtube stops them. - Sabot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They just keep rolling in for me too. Youtube should not allow more than one person per message as an address.
- upsidedork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As irritating as the Wendy's and Sony crap is, they are legitimate users. They don't spam. If you don't like the ads, just don't watch them -- they're not going out and harassing you.
It is useful to have those ads on YouTube, from a cultural analysis perspective, because they make it much easier to complain about the companies. (Or, maybe someday, praise them.) I wish more companies put their ads online. Maybe it would be more user-friendly if YouTube had a separate, dedicated category just for commercials. - Onwlyix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm getting the same crap. Youtube, make it stop! >_
- Dallas70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sex is what makes them the most money and the cheapest to advertise, if they get a .001% response rate they're dancing in the streets.
In other words, they'll spam 10 million users and because 100 people are stupid the rest of us are subjected to this garbage. - AndreGerber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I really think these spammers think our minds are between our legs. As if sex is the only thing we thing about, so they can target us through that. How silly.
- tommertron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Did anyone else notice that the linked blog post was almost completely unintelligible?
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah. its bad on my account. i've got more than 30 messages a day
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Youtube is being used to send spam messages, that bypass the anti-spam messages."
NEWSFLASH: Some evil Digg submitters are surreptitiously transmitting commas in, the middle of sentences! - sherifff, on 12/13/2007, -0/+0Spam "Invite Your Friends"
http://fraud-mail.land.ru/article/spam/6/ - gubatron2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Same over here, a lot of Brazilian Amateur Video spam coming my way every day.
They need to implement a block user, or mark as spam functionality. - gregdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It really should be, you're right. Wait... what?
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Youtube just has to add a "mark this as spam" icon next to each comment and then the comment gets submittied to youtube for final review.
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1crawfishsoal
hey dude, sorry saying you didn't have any friends. I kinda feel like a dick for saying that!
Digg on brother! - geoplaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There's a video on YouTube about the Spam on YouTube that makes fun of the Spam on YouTube but isn't YouTube Spam itself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBvkLHaOoRQ
Did I just write that like an SEO would? :P - blahtastic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hmm...i got the exact same set of four messages...this could potentially turn out to be annoying as hell...
- cadavreexquis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yep, I got the exact same messages over the past few days. Hopefully this means that this is still fledging spam and will be squashed.
- sofia60uz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hey! I am new to this zone can someone tell me whats happening here!!!!!!
- alrahman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I got a couple aswell. About time Youtube setup a captcha system.
- Stephanie0jh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I usually get spamming messages, but i ignore by thinking that all these are marketing stunts. in some manner companies buy banners and some buy e-mail services to get the user attention, tell me what u say........
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1does anyne know the phone number(s) for these spam companies? Digg revenge!
- korimickster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4del.icio.us
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I use Bugmenot for Youtube, as well.
Why is VTmruhlin getting dugg down? It works, people. - RogelSM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The most frustrating issue is that YouTube don't do anything to solve it, and it should be too complected!
- doinkies, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I get these Brazilian porn spams too...hopefully YouTube will put up a spamblocker soon...
- Tandaemonium, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Same here! Those are exactly the ones I'm getting.
That and effing Friendorama. -
