- inactive, on 11/20/2007, -1/+7dear google please bitch slap at&t and don't let them use it, just because you can do that, thanks - consumers
- madeinbrazil, on 11/20/2007, -0/+3It all depends on whether Android really picks up, then we'll see if AT&T doesn't join
- colindunn, on 11/20/2007, -0/+2A(1) + T(20) + T(20) = 41 x 16.24390243902 = 666!!!! OMGZ ATT IS THE DEVILZ!!1!
- skyshock1, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1They'll have no choice when the other companies pick up this handset. Embrace or get your ass handed to you.
- OBKenobi, on 11/20/2007, -2/+3AT&T is of the Dark Side. End of discussion.
- bradbelan, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1its going to take a huge effort, by a major player like google with some very deep pockets and tenacity/patience to wrest control of the wireless s/w landscape away from the telecom oligopolists and to open it up to competition and innovation. as a consumer i sure hope they can pull it off, but as a realist i'm not sure they have enough behind them to keep the telecoms from covertly torpedoing it.
- StealthAgent87, on 11/20/2007, -2/+3All we need is another phone on the AT&T network that is bugged down on there crappy system like the iPhone, and its an exclusive contract.... and blah blah blah.
- clickmyface, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1double post...how is this still possible
- jmnormand, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1fortunately at&t uses gsm and with sim card portability it doesn't matter much if they join or not. Sure it would be nice to have them backing some of the phones but its not its certainly not a make or break situation. Really until at&t gets their data network up to par its probably better not to bother with them anyway.
- jmnormand, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1you can use it anyway all the gsm phones will be unlocked. good luck with edge though...
- clickmyface, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1AT&T Isnt the only evil telco. Many of them are on the alliance, in fact. Sure they look good now, but when it comes to the bottom line they might not be as Android friendly as people seem to be expecting. Apple, on the other hand, is doing its own thing and, assuming the SDK comes as promised, I think their approach is quite good. People seem to forget that Googles CEO recently joined Apples Board of Directors. They have one of the best relationships in the industry.
- ikesauto, on 11/20/2007, -1/+2Great Post
- youareretarded, on 11/20/2007, -0/+1Can you name one phone that they have locked down? And the iphone doesn't count since they had to make a deal with apple to carry it.
- wilf_brim, on 11/20/2007, -2/+3***** AT&T. Why, in the name of God, do we continue to put up with this carrier enforced *****? The Europeans won't. They buy unlocked handsets and go to whatever carrier they like. It would be awesome of HTC sold their Android handsets unlocked in the US. Buy the handset, and go where you want, don't be locked into some contract, and don't accept them killing the features of phones (***** you too, Verizon).
- missingnoh4x, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1Like AT&T would ever accept the idea of an open phone platform, with nothing locked-down.
- soccerman90, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1no, let at&t use it. then that means i will be able to use it and be happy :)
- mediatedthought, on 11/20/2007, -1/+1Android + 700 mHz would sure change things up
- jayneff, on 03/30/2009, -2/+1***** NSAT&T!
