- i440, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28But how will they find new ways to forcefully retain customers now?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Next AOL itself needs to shut down.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Anal rape? :(
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18let's all hope there never is an AOL 10.0
- wolfzbane, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Nobody worry! I'm from the internet!
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14If the Anti-Spyware program in AOL really worked, it would remove itself!
- dpk87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13We can only hope this is the beginning of the end.
- HarrisonHoffman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Man, how pissed are the rest of the people in the research department at the people who released that data!
- Heembo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Oh comon I can't wait for AOL 10.0 - those CD's make excellent drink coasters!
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15is it odd that it's not the first time i've seen the words "AOL" and "anal rape" together?
** oohhhh it hurts... I just wanted to close my account ** - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I'm afraid the Internet will never recover from this. This is a very sad day for all of us. Get your digg comments in now, this could be the last time we have a chance! So long Internets!
:*( - adfsj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I used to like aol when it came on floppies....why can't they ebrace that again and release aol on cdrw's? or even DVDrws which would have enough room for all that bloatware its packaged with.
- omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6They did research? You wouldn't know it from their software.
(Unless they researched how to make it as invasive and dangerous to your system as possible, which is a possibility considering that Colin Powell and Alexander Haig used to be on AOL's Board of Directors) - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12If AOL were a girl, i'd fist her after school.

- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What the hell?
- wolfzbane, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Your mortal soul
- ddh1969, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hey, IF AOL did put their crap on cd-rw's then at least you could put something USEFUL on those discs...they are/were good for nothing much but coasters and stupid art projects...
- donolsen1155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I remember AOL 1.0. A DOS application. From a BBS perspective it was a pretty cool.
I'm afraid in this day and age AOL has little or no reason to even be in business, especially now that they charge more for dial-up than I pay for broadband. It's too bad they are going to stick around long enough to completely disgrace their selves before they go bankrupt. - ConceptJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, AOL is terminating everyone within the same zip code of the person who released this data with extreme prejudice, but are they actually _doing_ anything about it?
A rash of firings only improves things if the people who are left are any better than the people who got axed. I personally think they are throwing everyone they can under the bus just to look like they are taking this seriously, but I don't see any evidence that it will make any difference.
And who else wonders what AOL "Research" ever did anyway... all they are doing as a company is packaging and repackaging Web browsers, e-mail and IM, or racing to release on-line products that everyone else had years ago.
AOL _could_ remake themselves... they have a huge infrastructure and tremendous resources, but as long as they are afraid to try anything that hasn't been done by a dozen other companies, they are doomed to continue declining. - atmicrat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm hoping there will be an automated way to release ppls search querries now.
- gd007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2good riddance!
- OopsIDied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, i hope this signals the end of the giant crap that calls itself AOL. Feel soz for ppl that would lose their jobs/internect connections tho.....
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Or the end of the beginning.
- lowerlogic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah, fisting AOL would just be gross. I'd rather do a sexy, slim chick like Puppy Linux.
- rarun98, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2does this mean even more crappy software?
- cliffy2000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i hear that tobias funke is the _premier_ analrapist.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I thought they already had a 10.0. New AOL Security Edition! or something like that.
- kirashira, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2the beginning of the end for america offline! yes yes bad joke..
- addakorn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2@mrASSMAN: fat bloated ugly chicks are easy! I preffer much less bloat though.
- glock23, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Who will make AOL 10.0?
- johntwoods, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1i mean... um... AOL is great? what do you people want?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1-
b - johntwoods, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2if AOL were a person, I'd fist fight him/her after school.
