- trghpy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22That sucks.
AMD finally got his big date with the prom queen and when it came time to perform he couldnt' get it up.
Quick, someone find some semi-conductor viagra! - Matteos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Its being shipped a day before you ordered it? Seems pretty fast to me.
- tagnarth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This was one of the reasons why Dell didn't go with AMD before. I suspect there will be a few minor hiccups like this but things will get better as AMD gets all the added revenue and is able to increase their production capacity. This deal cements them as a major supplier in the eyes of plain consumers. Just looking at the price disparages on Dell's site it's not hard to figure out that everyone's going with the AMD systems.
- lysander, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"Mikey Dell"? Who writes this *****?
- Alcorsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5D'oh! 10/18/06. Yeah, shipping it a day before I ordered it would be pretty impressive.
- Alcorsu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I can attest to this. I ordered an AMD dual core from Dell 9/19/06 and it's been delayed twice already. The current ship date is 9/18/06, so I'll get it over a month after it was ordered, which is pretty lame. Also the price of that configuration has actually increased during that time, another indicator of a supply shortage.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4lol @ "Sempr0ns"
- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's affecting other manufactuers too, which I'm sure was part of Dell's plan. My company had to respin several models to use Intel, instead of AMD, because AMD couldn't deliver the parts.
- Chebyshev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4disparages? how about disparities?
- MonkeyFit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Apparently Theo Valich writes this *****. What do you expect, it's the Inquirer.
- dw2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OMG thats terrible news!
Oh wait, Its from the Inquirer - OnymousHero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Better stockpile then...luckily I have a pile of Durons and a couple of XPs left to tide me through!
- halfcockedjack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2See what happens when Intel pisses off Dell? AMD runs out of chips.
- ScottDaMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Eh. Excellent excuse to raise prices.
- rolf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Maybe, if Intel and Core 2 Duo didn't exist...
- tmcdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's OK, wait until Intel becomes the low price, high performance leader again with the DuaL Core chips that blow 5xxx, 6xxx+ chips out of the water!
And do with with dual 3ghz chips... Amd will have to Lower their intel mhz scale, as they are WAY OFF based upon to be discontinued pentium 4 line in favor of conroe!
Go on Intel---- CUT THOSE PRICES!!! BIGTIME!! MAJOR price cuts should coincide with the launch of the windows vista operating system q1 2007 - heathenx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3whatever. this has happened to intel plenty of times? i remebered ordering a dual 933mhz pentium 3 back in 2000 from dell and it was delayed two months...yes, two months.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looms? It's already here. Ask anyone who tried to buy a 4600+/4800+/5000+ AM2.
- OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, but when.
- DarknessGP, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4the article is from the inquirer... do people even look at the links posted or just blindly digg?
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm sure he meant october over september as the ship date. As for the issue at hand that AMD is having, I would have to say I speculated this would happen. This is the reason Intel is such a big dog as it is. Whether you like Intel or not, they can handle volume unlike any other company. Think for a second at what they manufacture and how many processors are purchased each day... Quite a load.
- wurzelgummage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1THE SPICE MUST FLOW!
- weirdone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2isn't amd bringing up their new fab in germany within the next 6 months? Should help with supply problems, one would think.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my reaction was quite similar.. read the feed title, came straight to this page looking for the beginning of the URL....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1These are just growing pains, it will get better, when all the money starts rolling in, then they can increase their production capacity.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And certainly Apple too.
- Matteos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@Dabellah
No ***** Captain Obvious, its called sarcasm. - drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this is a bs story read this released on the 6th
http://www.techspot.com/news/23135-amd-approves-3rdparty-65nm-production-line.html - Neilyos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Did AMD really think that they could go from barely having enough CPUs to supply retail channels to keeping up with the likes of Dell and their world market? HA!
- tagnarth, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3that was the word... (in the middle of debugging some pretty hairy code, not thinking in the realm of english)
- headband, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Theo Valich
- jtorque, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0@23r17i05o42n

It looks genuine. The lady even has a Fed Charity ID # 34-2007461 and donations are being handled by an accounting firm. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Don't cry! If there is DEMAND, you can be sure they'll make more.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -21/+9Who cares? Core 2 Duo rules.
