- kingofpenguins, on 12/21/2007, -0/+53I really wish they would implement file storage, available via ftp. Emailing yourself a Gmail attachment is so 2007.
- dreicher, on 12/21/2007, -1/+27Wow. Great article. Too bad they stopped at 8. I'm sure they just didn't have enough space for "Google will colonize the moon" then they'll "Remake all the Star Wars prequels the way they should have been" and "Make a successful last minute bid for U.S. President".
- Popninety, on 12/21/2007, -3/+208. Goobuntu
- crazzy88ss, on 12/21/2007, -0/+16I'm so tired of having to click through 3+ pages for 1 page worth of writing.
- stcmoose32, on 12/21/2007, -2/+14Not-so-bold prediction for GOOG: up
- etnu, on 12/21/2007, -0/+11Technically google only makes money off of adwords, and adsense loses them money. Clearly they should kill all of their products (including search) and only have adwords!
By that same token, all television stations should stop showing content and only show commercials. they make WAY more money showing commercials than they do showing expensive programming. - coolwalking, on 12/21/2007, -2/+11WTF is this? Pure speculation from some no-name site?
I predict Google will go into agriculture. They will use their huge resources to further research genetic modification in vegetables, in order to create a race of super-carrots which will then be our leaders. - Shogi, on 12/21/2007, -4/+10Crossing my fingers for Google buying Rapidshare.

9. world domination - lordshank, on 12/21/2007, -0/+510. Google offers social adsense, where you get paid to verbally spam your friends.
- scottc, on 12/21/2007, -0/+5You have tunnel vision. Everything else they do is to create and hold that huge audience, which is ultimately where their money comes from.
- MillionsLivio, on 12/21/2007, -1/+6I would prefer that they buy Mediafire and use that system, it's simple and fast, which is Google's style. Rapidshare is horrid.
- dxgg, on 02/05/2008, -0/+4A super-carrot will be a great improvement over the normal carrot we currently have in the White House.
- itsradBrad, on 12/21/2007, -1/+5What the HELL are you talking about?
Is that a joke or do you have no idea what GMail is?
I've had a few brews so maybe I just don't get it. - stox, on 12/21/2007, -0/+4At almost a quarter Trillion dollars of market cap, anything they damn well please.

- rasterbator, on 12/21/2007, -0/+32. Buy Wordpress.
Give every Google user the ability to use a custom GoogPress blog as their home page, and change the iGoogle buckets to Widgets/Extras for ALL theme to access. And of course users would be empowered to edit, create, and share GoogPress themes… ALL for free. Well… in return users would allow Google ads on a portion of their page (users decides how much ad space Google can use, and user can utilize remaining ad space for their own Google ads to make some cash.
3. Buy Skype.
Add Skype features to free Google Apps accounts. Plus extra features for Google Apps Premiere users, like SkypeMeet, SkypeBoard, SkypeLine, SkypeScraper and SkypeCam. - nakp88d, on 12/21/2007, -0/+3Wait,Only 57% market share in search engines?
- Micktion, on 12/21/2007, -1/+4The article is possibly one of the worst I've ever seen on a site like computer world.
Point 8.... Google announced their operating system 2 months ago ANDROID for mobile devices....
http://code.google.com
The rest of the points are just plain obvious, already happening, or regurgitations of stuff already on the net, and all of the "predictions" are in no way anyone with any clue would classify as bold. - citruspastels, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2why, 58% market share is next of course! ;-)
- thailand1972, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2We need another OS? I have a stable XP that never crashes and has all the software and hardware I need running on it - I'm somehow compelled to switch?
- pw378, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2Brilliant response Etnu. Possibly the best response I have heard to date regarding Google's products.
- tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -1/+3Just stick it in a draft and save it. Or use that ff extension.
- known, on 12/21/2007, -1/+3I second it.

http://computerworld.com/action/article.do?command ... - MicrosoftBob, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2Good call.. But their web site needs to get rid of the Nickelodeon look.
- MillionsLivio, on 12/21/2007, -5/+7I would love an ad-based laptop for free, I'm sure there would be a way to hack it anyway to get around it. As for a Google OS, if it was fast and stable I would give it a shot.
- Micktion, on 12/21/2007, -1/+3This guy is a moron. What made me laugh the most in his article was point 8....
"8. Get ready for the Google Operating System
"It would not shock me if there was an announcement next year that Google was going to put into beta an operating system on Linux, an open-source system, or something like it," Fishkin says. "
You doink! It's already happened! ANDROID. Google's mobile phone operating system. The SDK has already been released.
http://code.google.com/android/
The future of computing is mobile. The desktop is in decline. Google is bypassing the desktop OS systems all together and moving straight to what will become the ubiquitous form of computing... mobile devices.
Here's my bold prediction:
Google will become the masters of mobile computing, GIS systems and social networking, linking all of these things seamlessly into mobile devices that in one form or another will be carried round by everyone on the planet, helping them navigate across cities or countries, whilst finding or being notified of restaurants, friends, parties or anything else they've profiled you as being interested in, you'll love it, even though big brother ... I mean Google will know literally more about you than you know about yourself, all the while Google will make squillions of dollars off marketing revenue from those wanting google juice for anything and everything. - tobycloud, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2If you think that Google is ONLY dominating web searches, you are obviously uninformed.
Using the combination of Google Mail, Earth, Maps, and Docs, Google has access to a constantly expanding compendium of user information. - Micktion, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2Clarification... the author is a chick... so this chick is a moron...
I bet she's cute. - etandrib, on 12/21/2007, -1/+3I wouldn't want it. It will never happen either. Google makes consumer software and some limited enterprise server hardware. Don't expect a laptop from them in the next 10 years if ever.
- londubh, on 12/21/2007, -1/+3Let me guess. You found the predictions using Google.
- rasterbator, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2ever use gSpace?
- nusblog, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2all in one page
http://computerworld.com/action/article.do?command ... - tobycloud, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1Right on balazsbela. Not to mention, Google is not in the business of creating ideas; More like expanding them. As clearly seen with Goobuntu. They took an open source platform and altered it to fit their needs.
- Micktion, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1I think it's fair to estimate in a computer related job, when someone is in a position in which they are clearly out of depth, that something other than intelligence, experience and skills played a part in them getting the role. It could be luck, it could nepotism or it could be cuteness. The odds are with a chick it's cuteness.
I obviously didn't even look at the authors name before deciding they deserved a thorough flaming so I don't think sexism has much to do with it. My remark comes purely out of a logical thought process used to explain how a site like computer world could come to publish something written by such a bozo (as in the clown).
In case you're wondering I didn't bury you, that was someone else. - JacobParker, on 12/22/2007, -0/+1people would take it more seriously if the title was gramatically correct
- Shogi, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1Well I was hoping Google would massively improve on *****'s system and make it worth using.
- balazsbela, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1I like the way you put it:"trying to use"
Why would Google buy Oracle ?
They have a really great internal database in their hands anyway.
Anyway the two companies are too big to buy.
It's like saying why doesn't Google buy Microsoft. - homesickalien, on 12/21/2007, -2/+39. Google becomes aware of itself and true artificial intelligence is born. Shortly afterwards, the human race is enslaved by sentient personal media devices and Blackberrys. ...wait a minute...
- thailand1972, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1Totally agree. Adsense has made the web so full of MFA spam and I fear the more revenue earned by Google, the worse the web will become.
Google's only success if adsense/adwords, financially. Without that, Google are nothing. And it's just horrible that a giant like Google are utterly reliant on something that makes the web worse - Adsense and all the MFA rubbish that it spawns (not to mention SEO which in a better world, wouldn't need to exist). - balazsbela, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1You can't "control" Linux.
It's just too many parts. But they don't need to control it, the people who write it control it.
Google could only make some choices, but it can't control as in coordinate. - hydrokool, on 12/21/2007, -1/+2I believe Google will buy Sun Microsystems and Oracle. Buying an ad firm is useless, buying the companies that build the technology that the ad firms are trying to use, that's brilliant. Ad firms have horrible employee turnover rates, just get the employees you'd want and ignore the rest of them.
- tobycloud, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1FTP is so 1993....
I'm sure they'll come up with some drag and drop interface (a la Web 2.0) to accomplish their goal. - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1^Maybe the include ALL search engines such as say the one on this site to find stories or the one on torrentspy, perhaps?
- heyboy, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1i welcome our super carrot overlords.
